2008 Fantasy Football All-Value Team

Jan 1, 2009

Every year there are players that you take late in the draft to fill out your roster and provide depth.  Naturally some of these guys end up being the ones you count on the most.  Here is a look at the best values of the 2008 NFL season.

QB – Kurt Warner:  His ESPN average draft position was 131.6 because it was unclear whether he or Matt Leinart would get the starting nod.  He finished the season fifth in fantasy points.

Other high value guys:   Philip Rivers (97.9), Aaron Rodgers (124.7), and Chad Pennington (Undrafted).  Matt Cassel was literally the best value, but this list is for guys who didn’t get their break because of an injury.

RB – DeAngelo Williams:  This one isn’t even close.  DeAngelo outscored every RB while having an average draft position of 87.1.  That’s the seventh round for 12 team leagues.  All you got from him was 20 TDs.

RB – Steve Slaton:  ESPN has him listed as undrafted for has ADP, but he was drafted in most leagues I participated in.  He finished seventh in RB scoring.

Other high value guys:  Michael Turner (38.6), Matt Forte (67.5), Thomas Jones (45.4), and Chris Johnson (126.5).

WR - Antonio Bryant:  Bryant for the most part went undrafted.  He finished the season on fire to rank as the eighth highest scoring wideout.  He had 1248 yards and 7 TDs.

WR - Vincent Jackson:  A year after being everybody’s darling, V-Jax rewarded those who stuck with him in ’08.  His ADP was 138.7 and he finished the 12th highest scoring WR.

WR - Lance Moore:  Moore lived up to the third year WR hype going from 32 catches for 302 yards and 2 TDs to 79 catches for 928 yards and 10 TDs.  He went undrafted in most leagues and finished with the 14th highest WR point total.

Other high value guys:  Roddy White (66.6), Kevin Walter (undrafted), and Issac Bruce (131.3)

TE - Visanthe Shiancoe:  Shiancoe overcame the drops to become fifth in TE points.  He finished with 596 yards and 7 TDs, while gaining cult status following his overexposure on Fox TV.  He went undrafted in most leagues.

Other high value guys:  John Carlson (undrafted), Anthony Fasano (undrafted), Zach Miller (undrafted)
