5. Philip Rivers vs. San Francisco (Thursday)
6. Josh Freeman vs. Detroit
7. Matt Cassel @ St. Louis
8. Matt Ryan @ Seattle
9. Matt Schaub @ Tennessee
10. Eli Manning vs. Philadelphia
11. Jay Cutler @ Minnesota (Monday)
12. Joe Flacco vs. New Orleans

22. Mark Sanchez @ Pittsburgh
23. Matt Hasselbeck vs. Atlanta
24. Drew Stanton @ Tampa Bay
25. Rex Grossman @ Dallas
.
.

Inside the numbers:

  • Tom Brady is on fire averaging 345.3 yards and 3.3 touchdowns in his past three games. His last two monster efforts came against two of the best pass defenses (Jets and Bears) in the league.
  • Peyton bounced back against the Titans, and should pick Jacksonville apart like he always does. He averages 278.6 yards and 2.0 touchdowns in 18 career meetings. Earlier this year he threw for 352 yards with two touchdowns against them.
  • Michael Vick is taking far too many hits, a trend that won’t change against the Giants, but he’s far too explosive to contain.
  • Josh Freeman is quietly having an outstanding season, ranking near the top of all quarterbacks in fantasy points because of his rushing yardage and lack of turnovers. He have a favorable match-up against Detroit.
  • Matt Cassel should be healed and ready to restore order for Kansas City. Playing St. Louis should help matters.
  • It’s not that I think Matt Ryan can’t put up top five numbers against Seattle, rather I don’t think he’ll need to.
  • Maybe I’m making too big of a deal out of one game, but Kerry Collins looked good against the Colts. He should have another nice game against Houston.
  • I did not like the way the Broncos responded to the Josh McDaniels firing. Jason Campbell should be able to have a solid game. I’d rank him higher, but I think Darren McFadden is going to go off in this one.
  • Speaking of Denver, can you really trust Kyle Orton as your QB1 anymore? How quickly he has fallen.
  • Matt Hasselbeck is quickly running out of receivers. When they get down big to Atlanta, don’t think Charlie Whitehurst won’t get some reps. Avoid Hasselbeck despite the intriguing matchup.
  • ***UPDATE*** Donovon McNabb was benched in favor of Rex Grossman.

If he plays, where would you rank Aaron Rodgers?

If he plays, I’d start him, but I just don’t think he’ll go again since it’s his second one this year.

Maybe a little early to ask … but if Rodgers can’t play this weekend, about where would you rank the New England defense (vs GB, @ BUF) for the fantasy playoffs?

They have to be right near the top the way they are playing right now. If Flynn is in, the Pack are in big time trouble. Should make fast work of Buffalo as well. Belichick has that unit rounding into form.

My only concern would be that they lock up the division on Sunday and just piddle against Buffalo. But then again, this is the Patriots we’re talking about.

I think you’re right … if Flynn starts, NE defense has to be near the top.

How is Michael Vick ranked 3? This is a Playoff game pretty much. Last time he played the Giants he only put up 19 points… Its fantasy playoffs now and 19 points isnt much..especially compared to what he usually puts up. The Giants just played this team 4 weeks ago. Even with the Giants losing, Vick could only muster 19 points (give or take a few depending on ur league) The Bears BEAT the Eagles and Vick put up more points that he did against the Giants in that game. The Eagles were also home when they played the Giants ..and this time its in New York…Biggest game of the year for both teams… Giants defense is as strong as ever…they already have a blue print that pretty much worked (fantasy wise atleast) to stop him… The Giants are healthy at Defense… I have Vick and am very scared to start him … I was thinking Josh Freeman this week over him. Its a tough move but.. I cant afford a 19point or less performance or even worse… Injury. Vick is great this year and if he makes it to the playoffs will definitly be a headache for any team but…this is just the one team I think will stop him and stop him hard. I wont decide till Sunday..but as crazy as it sounds…Vick may ride the bench this week. If anyone can please prove me wrong cause I do want to start him.. I just need to hear some legit reasons. Not “oh its Michael Vick..hes to explosive” Just trying to play it smart…

It is Michael Vick and that is a legit reason. He has seven rushing touchdowns and a 48.3 per game average. It’s the new Michael Vick though completing 63.6 percent of his passes with a 104.3 passer rating. 251.3 yards per game. 17 touchdowns to 4 INTs. Compare that to Freeman and it’s not close. You can play your instincts and go with Freeman, but I’m of the “dance with who brought you there” type of guy. I would feel more sick sitting Vick when he’s having a big game than using him when he doesn’t.

Thats a good point lol. Im so torn man. Im down 17 points in my matchup while its not huge, it hurts. Friggin guy had Jay Feely, If it wasnt for him id be up.

I hate kickers. I ran a league without kickers once and it was awesome.

Honestly, being down 17 I would definitely start Vick. His upside is WAY higher than Freeman’s.

im in the same exact boat here… i have Vick and Mccoy, BUT playing matchups i think the giants defense will stop vick. Mccoy is starting regardless, but my backup qb just had a good fantasy outing against the RAVENS of all teams in Matt Schaub. So is Schaub over Vick that crazy of a play? I think with vicks matchup and texans playing titans that schaub is the better play (especially with mccoy in – i dont want to have both lay eggs) What you guys think?

  11. Rick
    December 15th, 2010 at 1:24 am #

Your right about the upside being better. The one thing about Vick is you never know what hes gonna do. After he dropped 56 in my league against redskins…his performance single handedly won me a game I should have lost. I was down by 42. I ended up Trading Arron Rodgers (who was my other QB) for Dwayne Bowe after that game..cause how can u not start Vick rest of the season. This Giants matchup is bothering me….but I might as well roll the dice with Vick. I was also thinking Gerrard against Colts. he put up nearly 30 last time they played the colts… Scott I wouldnt play Mccoy against Pittsburg. Id def start Vick in that situation.

    December 15th, 2010 at 1:27 am #

Id actually play Jon Kitna over Mccoy this week. The Redskins are a BAD BAD Team lol. Kitna has had 30 point games. Hes gonna do well in this division matchup. Gonna find Wittin alot and Miles.

Rodgers has been my QB all season. Luckily, I had the week 14 bye so I’m still alive in the playoffs…for now. If Rodgers doesn’t play, do I go with Sam Bradford, Kerry Collins, or Jason Campbell? I’m not sure the choice is clear.

scott – i can somewhat see using schaub in that situation. he has been hot the past couple of weeks. I just have a hard time not going with vick because of what he brings to the table and the weapons at his disposal.
rick – he means lesean mccoy
jillian – no the choice is not clear. i have them bunched up with Collins at the top, but that’s a scary thought because he had just one good game. I think he’ll do fine against Houston, especially with Britt getting healthier.

    December 15th, 2010 at 11:48 am #

thx – and i can only start 1 qb – the mccoy i was referring to was Lesean Mccoy RB of the eagles and was just thinking playing vick and mccoy its feast or famine, and having lesean rb for eagles and schaub is better than lesean and vick if the giants defense comes to play (being at home and biggest game of the year for them)
basically which lineup is better…and which 3rd WR is best play?
vick, l mccoy, mendenh, a johnson, welker, rice/floyd/or britt
schaub, l mmcoy, mendenh, a johnson, welker, rice/floyd/or britt
    thx again!

I like Floyd and can see your hesitation to put your eggs in the eagles basket. I’d use vick, but i wouldn’t argue against you if you went with Schaub.

    December 15th, 2010 at 7:42 pm #

Schaub is hot, but I have somewhat of a tough call to make….. Schaub or Matt Ryan? I played Ryan last week, and Schaub blew up….. thoughts?

  18. LestersLegends
    December 15th, 2010 at 8:07 pm #

I like them both. I favor Ryan slightly, but you’re right Schaub is hot. I think Arian is more involved this week though.

OH LOL! yea L. McCoy has been good this year. sorry bout the mix up. heres a question ..who should I go with in the flex this week. Kenny Britt, or Steve Johnson…. I have Vick starting (yes i decided to start him) with Ahmad Bradshaw and Jonathon Stewart at RB … then i got Branch and T.O. starting at wide reciever… Im thinking Britt in the flex… my options on bench are Steve Johnson (who hasnt dont anything last 4 games… ) Ladanien Tomlinson (who i have to bench this week… just no production lately..and facing steelers)… Cedric Benson (what a waste) and Rashad Jennings ( just incase ;) ) lol I wouldnt be worried to much if Antonio Gates was playing..he ALWAYS picks up the slack.. I have Kevin Boss at TE …hes been doing well but nothing like Gates monster games. I also Have the Bears D in a great matchup against the Vikes.

I have Johnson ranked a little higher, but you’re right he hasn’t done much in recent weeks. I have no problem using Britt against Houston.

Lester, Schaub or Matt Ryan? Schaub had a huge game last week, and I played Ryan, which kinds bit me in the rear. I have more confidence in Ryan, but Schaub seems to be hot. Thoughts?

If i had Vick and P RIvers I would have started Rivers definitly. He actually did well tonight. Im just happy that my matchup left Malcolm Floyd on his line up !! omg what a treat. Nice inactive GOOSE EGG.

    December 16th, 2010 at 11:02 pm #

Rivers was awesome, but without Gates and Floyd I would have went with safer choice in Vick. strong game though. will be tough for vick to top it. that’s awesome your opponent was caught napping.

Lester – Schuab vs Kitna? Schaub’s been so unreliable this year, but he does seem on a roll. Kitna may go off on Washington.

    December 17th, 2010 at 12:04 pm #

I too like the roll Schaub is on and he’d be my choice.

I need advice ? I have for defense NY Jets and Balt Ravens. Who do I start Sunday on D. I am fighting for points ,and it is first round of the play offs. Also ,since GREEN Bays QB is out for this game ? I wonder if I should keep as a receiver Jennings in? Or I have (Indy’s Graicon), (Pit- Wallace),or (Philies- Maclain) ? Also, should I take a chance and start KC’s Bowe as well? I need two WR to start.

I think I have solved my defense issue.I traded for New England def. What do think about that? Also, what about starting WR KC’S Bowe ? It looks like Cassel will start at QB?
