Here are my Week 16 fantasy football quarterback rankings.
.

1. Michael Vick vs. Minnesota
2. Tom Brady @ Buffalo
3. Peyton Manning @ Oakland
4. Drew Brees @ Atlanta (Monday)
5. Philip Rivers @ Cincinnati
6. Matt Schaub @ Denver
7. Aaron Rodgers vs. New York Giants
8. Jon Kitna @ Arizona (Saturday)
9. Joe Flacco @ Cleveland
10. Eli Manning @ Green Bay
11. Ben Roethlisberger vs. Carolina (Thursday)
12. David Garrard vs. Washington
13. Josh Freeman vs. Seattle
14. Rex Grossman @ Jacksonville
15. Matt Ryan vs. New Orleans (Monday)
16. Kerry Collins @ Kansas City
17. Matt Cassel vs. Tennessee
18. Sam Bradford vs. San Francisco
19. Jay Cutler vs. New York Jets
20. Chad Henne vs. Detroit
21. Troy Smith  @ St. Louis
22. Shaun  Hill @ Miami
23. Tim Tebow vs. Houston
24. Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. New England
25. John Skelton vs. Dallas
.
.

Inside the numbers:

  • Tom Brady may be the league MVP, but Michael Vick is the fantasy MVP.
  • My gut says Aaron Rodgers will be able to go this week. I’m a little worried that he can stand up to the Giants’ pressure, but it would be hard not to trust him if he starts.
  • Kitna’s been a little up and down, but should be a strong play against the Cardinals this week.
  • Rex Grossman surprisingly delivered the goods this past week against Dallas. He has another strong matchup against Jacksonville as he auditions for a 2011 starting gig.
  • Kerry Collins isn’t quite as strong of a play this week, but he’s been playing well and Kenny Britt is back.
  • Tim Tebow scored on the ground and through the air, but despite a favorable matchup against Houston, I can’t justify taking a gamble on him this week.
  • It looks like Mark Sanchez will be limited if he’s able to go this week. He can’t be trusted.

Vick and Witten carried my team into the Fantasy Super Bowl after Fred Jackson and Ahmad Bradshaw underperformed. 1 more game Les, 1 more game…

Take em home Rad. Take em home. Grant – What a run he’s been on. He would have carried me to the finals in the one league I owned him in if not for stupid divisions. I won five straight to finish the season tied for first. Had 136 more points than the team I tied with. I had a 2-1 division record and the other guy had a 3-1 record. Every team played three divisional games except for two that played two and two that played four, robbing me out of a title shot. Can you tell I’m bitter? I digress. Good luck in the finals gentlemen.

Nah Ryan, you sound perfectly sane to me 8|

By the way … the guy I played this week started Moreno … over Ray Rice. And he is freaking PISSED.

That sucks Les, I never played in a league with divisions, sounds interesting.

Grant, I started Tolbert over Vincent Jackson in my flex spot. Almost cost me if not for Vick.

Going into next week, would you start Torain over Bradshaw Les? Bradshaw’s facing GB and I’m a little nervous about the touches he keeps losing to Jacobs. I would start Tolbert over Bradshaw but I hate to count on 2 guys from the same team (Vincent Jackson gets my flex spot next week). Fred Jackson is my other RB.

    Grant – Haha.
Rad – It does suck. Same nonsense happened to me in baseball with the same group, but I wouldn’t have been in the finals. I like Torain and Tolbert as your starters with VJax in the flex personally. The four RBs are all around the same though so if your gut says go with Jackson or Bradshaw, I wouldn’t put up a big fight.

Need your advice, I am in the finals. Tim Hightower, Jonathan Stewart or Donald Brown @ FLEX. Eli, Rex or Tebow @QB? I played Eli last week over K. Collins and J. Campbell and it paid off. Hate the GB matchup but Rex and Tebow are a gamble. I will be up against either Garrard or Aaron Rodgers. Your thoughts? (maybe giants knockout rodgers?)

rest of team is set with: J.charles, RunDMC, Wayne, B Marshall, Tamme, Dallas and Josh Brown. Thanks!!!

I actually like Donald Brown (finally) in the flex. I’d have to go with Eli personally. The other two are very risky. Looks like a championship team to me. Good luck Dougie.

Thanks for your opinion, your site is awesome!!!! You come out with your opinions early in the week which is great!

Donald Brown will give me three starter from one team (Brown, Wayne, Tamme) which is generally against my religion. Do you think that the Colts have a great matchup @ Oak? Do you expect the Colts “O” to go off?

    Thanks again.

Thanks. I like to get it out early, especially in the playoffs and during holiday season so we can discuss. I often adjust my rankings based upon what people are telling me. We all work together (and hopefully win together).

Wayne and Tamme are must starts at this point. It’s hard to put that many eggs in the basket, but Brown fits nicely into the picture this week against Oakland.

Les – I like your site, seems to me you have pretty accurate rankings. Thanks for all your information. In the Super Bowl for the 4th straight year but I have one title to show for it – need to get my 2nd title! What do you think:

RB’s – Forte, Lynch, or Ronnie Brown (Chris Johnson starting but can take 2 more here (1 as a RB/WR flex).

WR’s – DeSean Jackson, Welker, Manningham, or Sims Walker (thinking about D Jax and not sure about the 2nd WR).

Technically I could start 3 WR’s and just 2 RB’s but probably not the conservative approach. Thanks for your help!

    December 21st, 2010 at 10:16 pm #

joel – thanks. take it home. at rb i like lynch. tampa is getting destroyed by the run. wrs i like djax and welker. for the flex i think i’d go manningham.

Lester – love the site.. I like Freeman in the top 10 this week. His consistency over the entire season gives me a lot of confidence starting him over the likes of Ben, Garrard, and Grossman.. especially at home against Seattle! Love the low Tebow rank, no way I’m risking my ‘ship hopes on that guy.

  16. LestersLegends
    December 21st, 2010 at 11:47 pm #

Ray – thanks. I don’t get the Tebow fascination. I just wouldn’t take that big of a risk in the biggest game of the year. I feel you on Freeman. I’m a little concerned that his passing total will be low, while Blount does the damage. Maybe Grossman should come down a notch.

Nice info Les. I have a dilemma. QB: Matty Ice or A. Rodgers WR: Wayne, Jennings, TB Williams, VJax RB: Benson, Bradshaw, Forte, Blount. Should I play all 4 WRs with one in the Flex or 3 RBs with one in the flex?

  18. LestersLegends
    December 22nd, 2010 at 8:47 am #

Dsmooth – Looks like Rodgers is a go. I’d get him back in there. I’d play Blount and bradshaw and use your four wrs.

    December 22nd, 2010 at 9:35 am #

I believe that A.Rodgers will not finish the game. G-Men “D” will be out for blood. Rodgers is a bit risky in that regard. Thoughts?

  20. LestersLegends
    December 22nd, 2010 at 10:49 am #

There is that chance kit, but that’s a chance you take with every QB. It’s not like the Saints are passive. Just ask Kurt Warner and Brett Favre in the playoffs last year. It’s true Rodgers has the concussions so he may be more of a risk. I’d personally go with the higher output guy, but I can see shying away because of the concussion issues.

Hello Lester, and happy holidays! In a QB dileema in the finals. I own Eli Manning, and Jon Kitna. Lost faith in Eli, and Ari pass d is more repectable than people believe. Look at the stats for the last month. Could pick-up Josh Freeman, or even up & down David Garrard. What do you think?

  22. LestersLegends
    December 22nd, 2010 at 3:27 pm #

I like Eli and Kitna over Freeman and Garrard, but Freeman is getting mentioned by a few people as a QB that I have ranked too low. If your gut says go with him, you wouldn’t be alone.

    RB: Turner
    WR: Lloyd
    WR: Britt

    DEF: Pats

    He has:

    QB: Rivers
    RB: C. Johnson
    RB: Hightower
    WR: Ochocinco
    WR: Walter
    WR: V. Jackson
    WR: Jennings
    K: Kaeding
    DEF: Chargers

My bench has Mike Williams(SEA), Crabtree, Gates(hurt), Fitzpatrick

    I really like your chances.

Great site Les! Has been a lot of help throughout the season. I’ve snuck into the ‘ship after tying in the semis. Now I go against a stacked squad and any advice I can get would be appreciated.

    QB: Peyton or Rivers
RB: I’ve got AP, Blount & Torain (Matthews, J Stewart, Maurice Morris)
    WR: Nicks & Britt (S. Rice, H. Ward, Sims-Walker)
    TE: Tamme
    Def: Chargers (Dallas is available)
K: Garrett Hartley (Josh Brown is available)

    Here’s what I’m up against…
Vick, Turner, McCoy, V. Jax, G. Jennings, Bowe, V. Davis, Packers

    Thanks again!

    December 23rd, 2010 at 7:26 am #

I like Manning a little more, but that one can go wither way. I like the way the rest of your team looks. Just keep an eye on AP. That guy has a sick team, but so do you. Good luck.

    December 23rd, 2010 at 9:51 am #

Your advise has paid off and I’m in the playoffs but I also have a dilemma. I need to decide between Freeman and Tebow at QB. I also have TE & WR/TE slots to fill with either Driver, Manningham, Britt, Boss, Tamme and V.Davis. I’m leaning toward Freeman as QB, Britt for the WR/TE and Tamme for TE. Tamme hasn’t received many points but still gets the looks. Tebow could have a huge upside but he’s a huge gamble. I’m in a non PPR league and playing against Vick at QB. What are your thoughts?

    in the finales!
12-3 record overall, mostly by Vick/Brees saving my ass week in and week out lol

    QB- Vick/Brees-1
    RB- Torain/Benson/Blount/Can Pick Up R.Brown/D.Brown/Woodhead/F.Jackson- 2
    WR- Nicks/Britt/M.Williams(SEA)/M.Williams(TB) -2
    TE- Daniels/Boss -1
    D/ST- Eagles/Bears -1
    K- Bryant/Feely -1

    Facing

    QB- P.Manning/D.Garrard
    RB- P.Hillis/A.Foster/M.Turner
    WR- V.Jackson/Garcon/Manningham
    TE- Watson/Cooley
    D/ST-Colts/Steelers
    K- Vinateri/Barth

obviously he’s favored, but I’m 1-1 to him

Les, HUGE semifinal game this week, need help! My concerns are mainly running back and wide receiver. let me know who you like the most!

please pick 2 of the 3 to start for my rbs:
    Ray Rice
    Jamaal Charles
    Arian Foster

please pick 3 of 4 to start for wrs:
    Brandon Marshall
    Wes Welker
    Brandon Lloyd
    Vincent Jackson

Thank you SO much for your expertise!

    great backs and great wrs.

i love the way rice is running and i couldn’t sit him. foster and charles is a toss up because they both can be so explosive. foster has been more consistent and he should shred denver. at wr i love marshall and vjax. i like lloyd a little better than welker because new england could be run happy against buffalo. i think tebow will have to lean on lloyd.

  32. zientek
    December 23rd, 2010 at 5:17 pm #

ok man, foster and rice it is, i was thinking those two but glad you reassured it.

as for receivers i was going with vjax for sure, needed to find other two tho, and glad you helped me out. you don’t think tebow could hurt lloyds value if they don’t have chemistry?

sounds good tho man, hopefully rolling to the championship game after this week thanks to you!

how do you feel about my lineup for this week:

    qb: michael vick

    rb: arian foster
    rb: ray rice

    wr: brandon lloyd
    wr: brandon marshall
    wr: vincent jackson

    te: owen daniels

    k: rob bironas

dst: ny giants (hopefully theyll be angry after last week)

let me know what you think or if you need to know my bench. take it easy man.

  33. zientek
    December 23rd, 2010 at 5:21 pm #

alright man sounds good, was gonna def go with vjax, just curious about other two. you don’t think tebow will hurt lloyds status cause of lack of chemistry?

let me know what you think of my lineup for this week or if you need to know my bench.

    qb: michael vick

    rb: arian foster
    rb: ray rice

    wr: brandon lloyd
    wr: brandon marshall
    wr: vincent jackson

    te: owen daniels

    k: rob bironas

dst: giants (hopefully pissed off cause of last week)

let me know man, wishing you luck on your teams!

  34. LestersLegends
    December 23rd, 2010 at 5:31 pm #

i think tebow is smart enough to know that lloyd is his best wr and he’ll lean on him. if the pats get to an early lead, they could limit welker’s snaps because they’d have clinched home field.

What do you think about Gronkowski over Tamme for TE? He’s available off waivers. Hernandez isn’t playing so I’m thinking Gronkowski will have more targets than Tamme.

  36. LestersLegends
    December 23rd, 2010 at 6:55 pm #

I still like Tamme, but that’s not a bad play.

I’m more of an Eli fan.
