Here are my Week 9 fantasy football quarterback rankings. Remember the Broncos, Jaguars, Niners, Rams, Redskins, and Titans are on bye.
.

1. Philip Rivers @ Houston
2. Aaron Rodgers vs. Dallas
3. Tom Brady @ Cleveland
4. Drew Brees @ Carolina
5. Peyton Manning @ Philadelphia
6.  Eli Manning @ Seattle
7. Matt Schaub vs. San Diego
8. Ben Roethlisberger @ Cincinnati
9. Michael Vick vs. Indianapolis
10. Matt Ryan vs. Tampa Bay
11. Matt Cassel @ Oakland
12. Jay Cutler @ Buffalo
13. Josh Freeman @ Atlanta
14. Brett Favre vs. Arizona
15. Joe Flacco vs. Miami
16. Mark Sanchez @ Detroit
17. Carson Palmer vs. Pittsburgh
18. Jon Kitna @ Green Bay
19. Matthew Stafford vs. New York Jets
20. Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. Chicago
.
.

Inside the numbers:

  • I thought Dallas’ defense would respond to Romo’s injury. It didn’t happen. It’s Aaron Rodgers’ turn to destroy them this week.
  • Seattle is 29th against the pass allowing 267.7 yards per game. Look for Eli to shred them.
  • I’m expecting Michael Vick to play this week coming out of the bye. I’m not sure if his mobility will be limited, so I’m being a little conservative based upon how he’s performed to date.
  • Atlanta is allowing 260.3 passing yards per game and a 69.2 completion percentage. Josh Freeman is a borderline QB1 this week.
  • I expect Brett Favre to overcome his latest newest injury.
  • Matthew Stafford was brilliant last week, but the Jets will present a much stiffer test.

Joe Flacco’s feelings are hurt and he expects an apology.

He feasted on NE and Buffalo, but Miami presents a stiffer challenge.

So I’ve got Welker and Santonio Holmes on my bench, both of whom haven’t really been doing much lately. Espec. Welker who seems like he isn’t even in the game down by the red zone anymore.

Anyways Steve Breaston and Jonny Knox (someone dropped him cuz of his bye) are on waivers. Would you grab either of them if you had to drop one of the two WR’s above.

And if so who would you add who would you drop?

    Thanks

i would add knox for holmes. i still think welker could have potential. it just seems like sanchez isn’t great when the weather gets bad, and we’re getting to that time of year.

Thanks, so if I can’t get knox, would you grab Breaston and drop Holmes or no?

I think so. Holmes hasn’t made the impact I thought he was going to.

I know their metrics don’t look great, but I can’t feel confident about any QB on the road in Seattle. Does that lower Eli to the point where Big Ben is worth the start?

I think they are both solid options. I’d go with your gut. I just like Eli a little better.

I have both the manning brothers as my QBs. Peyton is the obvious choice but against the Eagles pass defense would Eli be a better start, or do you think Peyton is still the better start?

I can’t bench Peyton. He operates against anybody. With next to no running game, it will be all on his shoulders.

Can we expect rodgers to start putting up his usual numbers again? Is there any reason to try and trade him (for appropriate value) heading into the playoff run and playoffs? The injuries around him seemed to have hurt his value this year. Am I crazy to suggest it?

Depends on what you have or can get. If you can get Flacco and an upgrade somewhere else, that might be worth considering.

who do u think has more upside on waivers..Blount or Tamme?

Gotta say Blount. There are plenty of decent TEs out there, but to get a lead back that is also the guy at the stripe. You get him.

Who do you think is the better option for remainder of season (PPR)
Kellen Winslow – on my roster
    Tony Gonzalez – waivers
    Ben Watson – waivers
    Jacob Tamme – waivers

I would say Gonzo. He had a stinker before the bye, but he was solid weeks 3-6.

Tamme is intriguing, but that’s a lot of stock to put in one game against the league’s worst pass defense.

Question for you … I just traded away Vick in a package to get Reggie Wayne, so my QBs are Flacco and Fitzpatrick. There are a ton of QBs available (which makes me wonder why the guy wanted Vick, but whatever), including the following:

    - David Garrard (may at least be good against HOU, CLE)
    - Matthew Stafford (some cupcakes ahead, including BUF, DAL, NE)
    - Josh Freeman (good playoff schedule with DET, SEA)

So my options really are: (1) drop Fitzpatrick for one of the above, (2) drop Anthony Gonzalez for one of the above, (3) do nothing. I’m going to study the schedules of all 5 QBs (including Flacco and Fitzpatrick), but I’m curious if you have any insights.

Collie is close to returning so I’d drop Gonzalez. Having another QB makes sense if there are weeks you’d rather have one of them over F & F.

sounds like gonz’s could be out for the year too.

… or, as I like to call them, “Flac-n-Fitz”. Or “Fitz-Flac”. I don’t know, I’m just making this up.

The only other thing … somebody dropped Shiancoe just before the news about Moss dropped, and I was going to put in a waiver claim for him, dropping Gonzalez. I guess I could see what happens from that and then decide what to do. Assuming the claim goes through, I’m leaning toward dropping Fitzpatrick for Stafford. Stafford seems to be the most likely to blow up in any given week.

That’s true, but he does have the “soft” label he needs to shed.
