2010 Fantasy Football Start/Sit Week 11

Here’s some sit and start advice as you set your lineups for Week 11 of the NFL season.
Matt Cassel, Kansas City Chiefs

Cassel is coming off a 469 yards, 4 TD game against Denver. He has 12 touchdowns in his past five games. He should continue to shine against Arizona’s 27th ranked pass defense (269.3 yards allowed per game).
Mark Sanchez, New York Jets
Sanchez is clicking with Santonio Holmes, who is forming a nice 1-2 punch with Braylon Edwards.  Sanchez has averaged 317.5 passing yards in his past two games with three touchdowns. He’s also ran for a score in both of those games. This week he takes on Houston’s league worst pass defense (301.3 yapg).

Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears

Cutler was good enough last week against the Vikings at home. This week he travels to South Beach to face the Dolphins. They rank sixth is passing yards allowed with 203.9 ypg. They are also tied for 12th with 13 passing TDs allowed.

Running Backs
Felix Jones, Dallas Cowboys

Jones’ numbers were bloated by his 71 yard touchdown catch, but that’s the kind of big play ability he brings. Jason Garrett is wise to get him the ball in space and let Felix make plays. Detroit ranks 26th with 130.4 rushing yards allowed per game, and they are giving up 4.7 yards per carry.
BenJarvus Green-Ellis, New England Patriots
The Law Firm ran well against Pittsburgh’s league best run defense last week. He should have another good game in him against Indianapolis’ 29th ranked run defense (133.2 yapg). The Pats used a lot of short passes and runs to perfection against Pittsburgh, and they will likely employ a similar strategy to keep Peyton Manning at bay.

Ronnie Brown, Miami Dolphins

Brown scored a touchdown last week, but only gained 11 yards on 12 carries. He’s scored in consecutive weeks, but he plays the Bears’ 2nd ranked run defense (82.3 yapg) in a short week.

Wide Receivers
Santonio Holmes, New York Jets

Holmes has finally started to reward those owners who stuck with him despite his suspension and slow start. He has ten catches for 190 yards and a touchdown in his past two games with a date with the league’s worst pass defense (Houston) on the horizon.
Mario Manningham, New York Giants
With Steve Smith out, Manningham caught ten passes for 91 yards and a score. While I don’t expect a repeat performance against the Eagles, a strong game against the 18th ranked pass defense (241.9 yapg) wouldn’t be a stretch. The Eagles are also tied for 22nd with 16 passing touchdowns allowed.

Mike Sims-Walker, Jacksonville Jaguars

MSW had a golden opportunity last week against Houston’s porous pass defense. He responded with three catches for 26 yards. Mojo is running well and Mike Thomas has clearly replaced him as the go-to guy.

Tight Ends
Todd Heap, Baltimore Ravens

Heap is coming off a solid game (4 catches, 57 yards, TD) against Atlanta. More importantly playing in the Thursday game gave him a mini-bye week, which should help the bumps and bruises at this stage of the season. He should play well against Carolina.

Greg Olsen, Chicago Bears
Olsen has scored in consecutive games, but his lack of yardage is concerning. If he doesn’t score, you’re looking at about three fantasy points. At this crucial part of the season, you just can rely on that lack of production.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs get a nice home start against the struggling Cardinals. They are prone to sacks and interceptions, plus Beanie Wells is a question mark.

New York Giants

Perhaps the G-Men were looking ahead to this week’s tilt with Philly. Perhaps the Cowboys finally tried. Whatever the scenario, the Giants looked bad against Dallas, and have the misfortune of facing Michael Vick this week.

    Who should I start?

    Must start 2 – S. Hill, J. Kitna, K. Orton
    Start 3 – K. Moreno, A. Bradshaw, BJGE, M. Forte, F. Jones, L. Blount
Start 3 – R. Wayne, B. Edwards, M. Floyd, S. Johnson (Collie and Britt are injured)
For kicker I have L. Tynes, and Kansas City D.

At QB I like Kitna against Detroit. I liked what I saw from them last week, especially Dez Bryant.

At RB I like Bradshaw, Blount, and Forte (but Felix Jones is right there with Forte).

At WR I’d sit Floyd. See what he can do first.

Your K and D should be fine.

Thanks. Do you think it’s worth dropping Edwards for Bess or Amendola? I need a clutch WR for this week, however, I don’t want the move to hurt me for the rest of the season either.

I couldn’t see dropping him the week they play the worst pass defense in the league.

Ok…WR advice…pick three of the following…Dwayne Bowe, Mike Wallace, Steve Johnson, Mike Thomas, Brandon Marshall…as of now I’ve got Bowe, Wallace, and Thomas in…I’m just a little unsure of whether to sit Thomas for Johnson…he’s been solid…really solid…but last week Thomas came up huge and Johnson did not. It really boils down to whether Cinci’s D or Cleveland’s D presents more of a problem. What are your thoughts?

I like Johnson a little better than Thomas this week. I think Cleveland’s D is better than Cincy’s. Personally I would go with Marshall. I think he’ll mesh well with Thigpen.

@GDR – I would go with Jones and Owens. I think Dallas will continue to get Jones involved and T.O. has been too money to bench.

    @chris – vick, brees
    wrs – wayne, bowe,
    rbs – foster, bradshaw
    flex – lloyd
te – tamme if he looks good to go.

Garcon or Randy Moss? I was thinking Garcon until Moss proves himself.

Also, between these RB’s in a 2 RB + Flex format, who should I start?

    Reggie Bush
    Thomas Jones
    Felix Jones
    LeGarrette Blount
    Jahvid Best

    QB Josh Freeman
    RB Michael Turner
    RB Fred Jackson
    RB/WR Dez Bryant
    WR Hakeem Nicks
    WR Reggie Wayne

    QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

Freeman, Bowe or Dez Bryant in my flex spot? qb’s get four points for passing td’s recievers get 6 points for receiving and rushing touchdowns ppr league

Do QBs typical score more than WRs in that format? I really like Bowe’s matchup.

  24. yuppy
    November 19th, 2010 at 11:49 pm #

Not really they even out. I had Bowe in there. I had to pick three out of R. White, G. Jennings, Dwayne Bowe, and Dez Bryant.

Great WR corps. I’d stick with Bowe.

Should I start Foster or Moreno this week? I know Foster is a manbeast but the matchup scares me and I know nothing about the Chargers run D.

  27. LestersLegends
    November 20th, 2010 at 3:25 pm #

I would go with Foster. Moreno has a tough matchup as well. San Diego is 4th with just 89.4 yards allowed per game. Jets are a better unit, but Foster has been way better than Moreno this year.

Okay, thanks. I was knocked out of 1st place down to 3rd last week in my league. Vicks monster game cost me big time. I finally bit it and dumped Hines Ward and Welker, they just weren’t producing. Colston is on thin ice with me too.

I managed to pick up both of the Mike Williams and Mike Thomas from the Jags…since it looks like Sims-Walker is out this week he should see a lot of looks. I can’t wait for Collie to come back, I really miss his consistency.

Tera – I’d go with Orton and Roddy.
