Here’s some sit and start advice as you set your lineups for Week 15 of the NFL season.
Matt Schaub, Houston Texans
In case you didn’t get the memo, Matt Schaub is back. He’s thrown for 730 yards and five touchdowns in his past two games. He’s averaging 295.2  yards and two touchdowns in his past five games. He’s going up against a Tennessee team that is allowing 244.3 passing yards per game, which ranks 26th in the league.

Kyle Orton, Denver Broncos

I gave Orton a chance last week and he completed just 19 of 41 passes for 166 yards with three interceptions. The week prior he threw for just 117 yards. Now he’s facing an Oakland team that ranks seventh in the league with just 202.5 passing yards allowed per game. That same Raider team that held him to 198 yards in Week 7 when he was still posting monster numbers.

Running Backs
Ronnie Brown, Miami Dolphins

Brown has yet to reach 100 yards of total offense in any game this season, and is averaging just 62.3 total yards per game on the year. With just three touchdowns, he’s not making fantasy owners happy. This week, though, he should be able to turn in a solid performance. He faces the Bills, who at 165.8 rushing yards allowed per game rank dead last at stopping the run. RB had 85 total yards and a score in Week 1 against the Bills, and I like his chances against them at home this week.
Mike Tolbert, San Diego Chargers
Just because Ryan Mathews had 16 carries and a score last week doesn’t mean Tolbert should be avoided. After all he had 16 carries of his own and a score. The Niners have the ninth ranked run defense (100.1 yards allowed per game), but Philip Rivers will take pressure of the running backs, which should allow Tolbert, and possibly Mathews, to have solid performances.

Cedric Benson, Cincinnati Bengals & Thomas Jones, Kansas City Chiefs

This RB duo was once shared a backfield in Chicago. They have been two of the better fantasy running backs the past few seasons, but I’m down on both this week. Benson is going up against a Browns team that has allowed just four rushing touchdowns all season. They held him to 60 yards in Week 4. Meanwhile Jones had just one yard on three carries last week. I don’t anticipate him bouncing back against the Rams, who have allowed just five rushing touchdowns this year.

Wide Receivers
Derrick Mason, Baltimore Ravens

Mason is about a month away from his 37th birthday, but nobody must have told him. He has five touchdown catches in the past six games. The Saints have been incredibly tough against the pass this year, but Joe Flacco has played well in recent weeks.
Roy Williams, Dallas Cowboys
Williams has struggled the past couple of weeks against the Colts and the Eagles, but is a nice bet to bounce back against Washington’s 29th ranked pass defense (260.5 yards allowed per game).

Donald Driver, Green Bay Packers
With Aaron Rodgers expected to be out, Driver can’t be counted on against the red hot Patriots. Aside from a 61-yard touchdown two weeks ago, Driver has been quite since Week 4.

Tight Ends
Owen Daniels, Houston Texans

Daniels returned from a five-game absence and caught five passes for 91 yards. He was targeted 11 times. We already spoke of Tennessee’s struggles stopping the pass.

Zach Miller, Oakland Raiders
This may sound hypocritical since Miller also overcame an injury to catch four passes for 68 yards. My problem is that Miller’s foot injury is a lingering one. He had just four catches for 20 yards combined in the three games prior to last week. I just don’t feel safe starting him in the playoffs.

Oakland Raiders Defense

The last time they faced off, Oakland mauled the Broncos 59-14 in Denver. They forced three turnovers and collected four sacks. This time they welcome the Broncos to the Black Hole. Good luck with that. The Raiders are tied for third in the NFL with 38 sacks.

Green Bay Packers Defense

The Packers are next in line to try and slow down Tom Brady and company. The Pats are piling up points, not allowing many sacks, and not turning the ball over frequently. It’s a situation to avoid entirely.

I know you mentioned Tolbert but do you like him over Felix Jones (vs WASH) this week?

  2. LestersLegends
    December 15th, 2010 at 6:57 am #

I like Felix better. He’s been playing well of late and i love his matchup.

So i have to pick two out of the three…LeGarrette Blount, Jonathan Stewart, and BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Who should i go with? Also, Vincent Jackson or Earl Bennett?

  4. LestersLegends
    December 15th, 2010 at 8:35 am #

All good choices. BJGE is my odd man out because he has a tougher matchup, but I like them all so if your gut says go with Blount or Stew I wouldn’t argue.

At WR I think VJax has more upside while Bennett is safer. Depends if you’re a gambler or not.

Do you like Woodhead or Vjax better at a flex?

Also, of Bradshaw, Fred Jackson, Hightower and Felix jones, I have to play 2. I think hightower could have big game against carolina, but hard to decide who would sit of the others. Right now I have woodhead, bradshaw and felix jones in my lineup. We get 0.75 ppr. What do you think?

  6. LestersLegends
    December 15th, 2010 at 9:58 am #

I’d go with Jackson, Bradshaw, and Felix Jones as your two RBs and flex.

I like Hightower too, but Arizona struggles to score. I like your RBs better than VJax who is a risk and Woodhead who you never know how many touches he’s gonna get.

Who do you like for the WR positions in non-PPR…Wes Welker, Miles Austin, Anquan Bouldin, Santonio Holmes, or T.O?

Also, trying to decide Kevin Boss or Jacob Tamme…

  8. LestersLegends
    December 15th, 2010 at 11:11 am #

I have Austin, Boldin, Welker, T.O. (in that order) 9-12 with Holmes at 19. It’s really a toss up for the top three. Pay attention to the weather to see if anybody should be ruled out. Other than that, I’d go with your gut. Mine says sit T.O., but I don’t have a strong argument against him since I have him as a WR1 this week.

At TE I go with Tamme, but Boss is also a TE1 (#7 in my rankings) so I can understand if you go with Boss instead.

Who do you like in a non PPR league? P.Garcon or Miles Austin (I have Peyton Manning)

Also, Jamaal Charles or Mike Tolbert? Thanks!

Garcon is catching far more balls lately. I’d double up with Manning and Garcon. I like Charles to bounce back this week.

What do you think about Bradshaw, Tolbert, Ronnie Brown and Miles Austin for 1 RB and 1 Flex.

I like Tolbert for sure and I don’t trust Austin anymore. I’m not sure about Bradshaw who is having a great season but getting less carries or Brown whose been disappointing but has a good matchup.

My 2nd league has way too many bench players so there was never any good waiver pick ups. I’ve got woodhead, tomlinson, benson and R. Williams for one flex spot. I was thinking Benson just because he gets the most carries.

  13. LestersLegends
    December 15th, 2010 at 9:15 pm #

I like Brown’s matchup, but I would have to go with Bradshaw. He’s been playing good football lately.

Benson is probably the safest play, as you are thinking. Ricky is an option if you feel like gambling since he’s playing Buffalo.

who would be a better play mike williams(TB) or arrelious benn?

  15. tony castro
    December 16th, 2010 at 2:22 am #

I need 3 WD D jackson, B loyd, mike williamson TB, b. marshall, and arrelious benn. and rb ray rice or ryan torain first time in the play offs

  16. LestersLegends
    December 16th, 2010 at 6:44 am #

anonymous – i like williams over benn. he’s been doing it all year.
tony – djax, marsall, and williams at wr. again, benn was good last week and i like him, but williams has by far been the more productive wr this year. lloyd is hard to trust as the broncos really soured last week.

  17. Elway
    December 16th, 2010 at 9:30 am #

I have three wr spots, who should I play? Mason,Bouldin,Floyd,M. Williams(sea),Wallace, and TO. I also have two RB spots Tolbert,Charles,Dixion, and Mathews.

elway – good group of WRs. I like Boldin and floyd. at rb i like tolbert and charles. if floyd looks to be limited this week i’d go wth wallace.
chado – i lke ronnie this week, but i can see using westy in a ppr league.

So I have rivers in one league going tonight but also going against him in another. I was wondering if u think its a good idea to sit him nd pick up up collins or alex smith?

  23. dogger
    December 16th, 2010 at 10:04 am #

Obviously, this may depend on whether or not Collie plays, but I need to play Collie, Vincent Jackson or Woodhead as a WR2 in ppr league. What say you?

  24. dogger
    December 16th, 2010 at 10:06 am #

Following up – Britt is on Waivers. Is he a better option than all 3?

  25. LestersLegends
    December 16th, 2010 at 10:07 am #

freak out – i go with rivers. playing him or not won’t help you in the other league. just hope he does well and the rest of the other team falters.
dogger- i can’t trust collie yet. i’d go with vjax tonight. he has more upside and you get an idea of what you need for the rest of the week.

  26. LestersLegends
    December 16th, 2010 at 10:10 am #

toss up against vjax tonight. i’d add him for collie though.

    Are these silly questions?

(RB) Steven Jackson or LeGarrette Blount

(WR) Sidney Rice, Santonio Holmes, Arrelious Benn, Stevie Johnson, Percy Harvin

Terrible WR situation. Or should I pick up Louis Murphy and drop ___?

    Thanks in advance!

  30. LestersLegends
    December 16th, 2010 at 2:04 pm #

No questions are silly. I have Blount at 11 and SJax at 15. Very close. If your gut says SJax, I’d go that route.
I’d go with Holmes, Stevie, and Rice. I like Murphy #3 but not sure who i’d drop for him. Maybe Benn.

  39. CHill
    December 16th, 2010 at 7:01 pm #

Thanks. but do you think using BMarsh for Jennings is a good idea since I’ve gotta start Ronnie Brown vs. the bad Bills run D? Im not sure starting 2 Dolphins is a great idea.. as bad as their Offense has been lately. Austin Collie should be cleared to play this week, and has been very productive when healthy.

I’ve been decimated by injuries after finishing the reg. season w. the best record in my league.. and struggling to patch up all these holes.

  44. LestersLegends

  51. Kristi
    December 18th, 2010 at 1:17 am #

Which three wide receivers should I start? Miles Austin, Brandon Lloyd, Steve Johnson, Austin Collie, or Mike Sims-Walker. I got to the playoffs with the first three, but they have been absolute duds these past few weeks. I just picked up Collie and Sims-Walker off waivers. I’m down by 40 pt. with my opponent having Jackson and San Diego defense. My team needs CPR to pull off a win this week.

  52. LestersLegends
