Here’s my Week 15 tight end rankings.

1. Jason Witten vs. Washington
2. Vernon Davis @ San Diego (Thursday)
3. Jacob Tamme vs. Jacksonville
4. Chris Cooley @ Dallas
5. Kellen Winslow vs. Detroit
6. Greg Olsen @ Minnesota (Monday)
7. Kevin Boss @ Philadelphia
8. Tony Gonzalez @ Seattle
9. Rob Gronkowski vs. Green Bay
10. Owen Daniels @ Tennessee
11. Brent Celek vs. New York Giants
12. Benjamin Watson @ Cincinnati
13. Marcedes Lewis @ Indianapolis
14. Aaron Hernandez vs. Green Bay
15. Dustin Keller @ Pittsburgh
16. Brandon Pettigrew @ Tampa Bay
17. Heath Miller vs. New York Jets
18. Ed Dickson vs. New Orleans
19. Jermaine Gresham vs. Cleveland
20. Jeremy Shockey @ Baltimore

Inside the numbers:

  • Jason Witten is averaging 70 yards and a touchdown in his past three games.
  • Vernon Davis is really 1A. He’s been a beast the past two weeks, and plays well when Alex Smith is starting, but the Chargers are the number one pass defense.
  • Greg Olsen has scored a touchdown the past two times he’s faced the Vikings.
  • Hakeem Nicks returned, but Steve Smith (hamstring) and Mario Manningham (hip) got banged up on Monday. Boss should remain a ky option in the passing game.
  • Antonio Gates is so frustrating. If he can go, he’ll likely have a big game, but he’s a gamble. They do play on Thursday so you should get a feel whether or not he can play. If it looks promising, I’ll add him to the rankings.

Miller had 28 yards Week 8-Week 13. Last week was nice, but I don’t trust him yet.Scaife scored twice last week, but has 37 yards in three weeks. Too risky in my book.

Who should I start I lost because adrian peterson didn’t do well againgst new york giants defense. I am also bothered by the opponents coming up this week the Chicago bears. But i am going to ride him and see if they will do better. So on that not who should i start for week 12. T brady, J. Freeman, A. Peterson, A. Foster. or should i pick up a running back and if i do who should i go after that is available. WR B. Edward, B. Marshal, M. Austin, D. Branch, M. Wallace. Tamp bay or New york jets Defense.

I don’t like his matchup against their corners. The Jets have been made the fool by the Patriots and by one of their coaches in recent weeks. I think the defense at least does their part this week.

scully – if miller is able to practice this week without problems, I’ll adjust my rankings. I just worry about lingering injuries.

Can you make the case to start winslow over Lewis in PPR format? I have both and it would be hard for me to bench Lewis, a touchdown machine. Thanks!

Winslow isn’t catching that many passes for than Lewis is, but I like Winslow better this week mainly because of the matchup.

Tough question for you man … I’ve got Celek and Pettigrew, and Boss is available, in my PPR league. My gut feeling is to stick with Celek for this week. Is Boss worth the pickup and the $1 it will cost me for the transaction? :) Thanks.

i don’t see boss as being a major upgrade over celek, who played well last time against the Giants. If your gut says Celek, i’d probably stick with it.

You know, another possibility (something you may want to consider for your list as well) is that Shaun Hill could start this weekend. If so, Pettigrew gets a big upgrade and could be worth starting, especially in a PPR league.

    That’s a good point Grant.

So, I have both Vernon Davis and Tamme (I know, poor me, right?) but can’t decide. Davis has been awesome with his QB back, and Tamme’s been down as of late, but the matchups suggest the opposite, with Jax’s horrible Pass D and the Chargers’ reasonably strong D. Thoughts?

Edit: PPR league, if that makes a difference to you

I noticed you spoke highly of the Pats passing attack. I was planning on starting Woodhead at WR along with Jennings(if Rodgers plays) and Pierre Garcon. I also have Sidney Rice and Austin Collie but “Big Mike” and “Super Mario” are able to be obtained. Assuming Rodgers sits who should be my 3rd? Also where would you rank Danny Woodhead for WR/RB?

anon – i would go with jennings with or without roders, garcon and big mike williams. i love woodhead as a player, just not as much as a fantasy one. a option you could consider is joe webb if he has WR eligibility.
