Here’s my Week 8 wide receiver rankings. Keep in mind that the Bears, Browns, Eagles, Falcons, Giants, and Ravens are on bye.

.

1. Reggie Wayne vs. Houston
2. Andre Johnson @ Indianapolis
3. Randy Moss @ New England
4. Brandon Marshall @ Cincinnati
5. Dwayne Bowe vs. Buffalo
6. Greg Jennings @ New York Jets
7. Calvin Johnson vs. Washington
8. Terrell Owens vs. Miami
9. Larry Fitzgerald vs. Tampa Bay
10. Kenny Britt @ San Diego
11. Wes Welker vs. Minnesota
12. Miles Austin vs. Jacksonville
13. Pierre Garcon vs. Houston
14. Percy Harvin @ New England
15. Mike Wallace @ New Orleans
16. Chad Ochocinco vs. Miami
17. Dez Bryant vs. Jacksonville
18. Mike Williams (SEA) @ Oakland
19. Marques Colston vs. Pittsburgh
20. Hines Ward @ New Orleans
21. Lance Moore vs. Pittsburgh
22. Michael Crabtree vs. Denver
23. Brandon Lloyd @ San Francisco
24. Santana Moss @ Detroit
25. Deion Branch vs. Minnesota
26. Mike Williams (TB) @ Arizona
27. Roy Williams vs. Jacksonville
28. Steve Johnson @ Kansas City
29. Davone Bess @ Cincinnati
30. Steve Smith (CAR) @ St. Louis
31. Braylon Edwards vs. Green Bay
32. Blair White vs. Houston
33. Mike Sims-Walker @ Dallas
34. Lee Evans @ Kansas City
35. Santonio Holmes vs. Green Bay
36. Patrick Crayton vs. Tennessee
37. Steve Breaston vs. Tampa Bay
38. Kevin Walter @ Indianapolis
39. Donald Driver @ New York Jets
40. Jabar Gaffney @ San Francisco
.
.

Inside the numbers:

  • With Dallas Clark and Austin Collie out look for Pierre Garcon, Blair White, and possibly Anthony Gonzalez to step up for the Colts.
  • Randy Moss will be extra motivated to take on the Patriots.
  • Kenny Britt has scored in five straight games, including three last week against the Eagles.
  • Dwayne Bowe has four TDs in the past two weeks. He’s a great play against the Bills, who have allowed 14 passing TDs already.
  • The Cowboys will be without Romo, but with a week of practice, Jon Kitna should be fine. I like the prospects of Miles Austin, Dez Bryant, and Roy Williams against a Jaguar pass defense that has allowed a league high 16 TDs on the year.
  • Denver has allowed 11 passing TDs, which makes the likelihood that Michael Crabtree scores fairly high.
  • Malcom Floyd is expected to be out again. Patrick Crayton has 199 yards in the past two weeks, making him a decent WR3 against Tennessee.

Where is Greg Jennings on this list?

I second that … Jennings should be downgraded against Revis, but not completely removed! :)

He must have got erased when I was reformatting last week’s rankings for this weeks. Thanks.

So just to play devil’s advocate here … would you honestly start Fitzgerald over Garcon this week? Really? Things are so screwed up in Arizona right now that I don’t see how you can have any confidence in Fitzgerald. It’s sad, really, because we had hope after the New Orleans game.

My rankings will probably always be a little bloated with Fitz because he’s so darn good. Tampa Bay has allowed 12 passing TDs so there is a chance he scores.

I know what you mean, he is one of the best … but his reception ratio (catches to targets) is like 45%, one of the worst in the NFL. Maybe he’ll turn it around against TB this week.

Eventually I will have to admit he’s not the same. I need a 12 step program I think.

K so here’s my question for you, I need one more starter from this bunch of WR’s, who would you go with given the matchups…….Jennings (vs. Jets, Revis?), M. Williams, SEA (vs. Oak, Asomugha-tough spot), Kenny Britt (vs. Oak), Steve Smith, CAR (vs. Stl)….thanks a bunch

Great options. I’d probably look to trade one, but that’s a different deal. I’d go with Jennings because Revis isn’t the same, and Driver is ailing.

So I’m in a similar dilemma as JW … here are my options, PPR league, start 3 WR … and I’ve placed *’s by my current choices:

    *B. Marshall @ CIN
    G. Jennings @ NYJ
    L. Fitzgerald vs TB
    *M. Williams (SEA) @ OAK
    *S. Smith @ STL
    A. Gonzalez vs HOU

In a PPR, I think Marshall and Williams are locks. Then it’s a matter of picking who I think will have the best game … this week, I think it will be Steve Smith. What are your thoughts?

I agree with Marshall and Williams. I still lean towards Jennings because of Carolina is bad, but I can see using Smith in that match-up. Again, I’d look to make a trade.

Is this lineup worthy of staying the course, or would a trade with someone be in order…in a PPR league, 8 teams.

    Brady, Fitzpatrick

Peterson, Forte, Reggie Bush, Felix Jones

Wayne, Boldin, Britt, M. Williams (sea.), Floyd

    Keller, Moeaki

    Bironas, Folk

    Ravens, Chiefs

Forte has been so up and down…I sit him and he has a monster week, start him and he stinks.

I think Jones is going to step up and Bush should be back soon so you should be good at RB. Once Floyd gets healthy, you could try to package a WR and RB to get an RB upgrade.I wouldn’t carry two kickers. Get some depth at RB, WR, or even D. I’m not sure I’d carry two QBs. How often are you going to bench Brady? If it’s eight team league, there should be decent options should something happen to TB.

It is a tough week to decide on which WR to start. PPR with the following:

    Deion Branch
    Marques Colston
    Wes Welker
    Terrell Owens
    Braylon Edwards

I need my receivers to score this week because I have to rely on Hightower as my second back. At least I have Gore as my first.

    October 28th, 2010 at 1:07 pm #

I guess I should have stated I need to pick 3 out of those 5.

    Thanks!

  16. LestersLegends
    October 28th, 2010 at 1:10 pm #

That’s tough. I’d eliminate Edwards for starters.

I’m almost leaning towards T.O. and the two Patriots given the PPR nature. I think Brady and the Pats dissect the Vikings secondary. I can see 15+ catches between them. If it were my team I’d go Welker, T.O., and Colston.

That sounds like a plan, as much as I hate to say it being a Vikings fan though.

Thanks for your advice, I apprieciate it.

Vikes fan. Nice. I am actually a Patriots fan (since mid-80′s) living in MN. My son likes both the Pats and the Vikes and had a tough time picking this one. Ultimately he went with the Pats. Think Favre plays? My guess is yes.

I think Favre plays too, that is why I picked up New England’s defense for the week. Losing hope each and every week with this team. They really do know how to break your heart.

Hi, Roy Williams or Deion Branch and Lee Evans or David Gettis or James Jones.

  23. LestersLegends
    October 29th, 2010 at 9:40 am #

It’s close, but I’d go with Branch over Roy. More mouths to feed in Dallas. Plus I think they run more this week. I also go with Lee Evans. He’s actually returned to form with Fitzpatrick.

I think you’re the only one with realistic expectations of Steve Smith (CAR). He is still top 15 everywhere else.

    good luck.

I like Dez this week. Kitna locked in on him. Plus, he’s so explosive.

  29. LestersLegends
    October 29th, 2010 at 10:40 am #

Yeah, I’m not sure why people are so quick to rush him back into the top 15. He’s probably not 100% and their offense is still an issue.

I need of 2 of the following 3 to start in a PPR league:

    Felix Jones
    Percy Harvin
    Mike Wallace

Currently I have Harvin on the bench, but don’t feel good about it. What do you think?

I need help I have Fitz, jennings, bowe, Mike Williams(tb), and britt. I also have knox and crabtree but knox has a bye and crabtree is not a good play. I need u to pick 2 wrs to start. Im thinking Bowe and Britt but I like jennings too. So i need a second opinion.
Also who are some good targets to try and trade for fitz?
My rbs are tomlinson, torain, s-jax and brown. Im willing to trade brown and other people in the trade. I want to get a good receiver

  33. LestersLegends
    October 29th, 2010 at 12:39 pm #

Good problem to have. I think I’d use Harvin over Wallace.

  34. LestersLegends
    October 29th, 2010 at 1:11 pm #

Trading Fitz now is probably not advisable because his stock is so low. You are really deep at WR so I would target the teams that need help there. If someone has a stud #1 and weak 2s and 3s, perhaps you can trade some of your depth for the upgrade at WR.

You could also see who is stocked at RB and weak at WR and try to find a deal.

You can’t really go wrong with your choices, but I would go with jennings and bowe. i can see using britt over jennings though.

I don’t think you’re trading moss or miles at a good time. both players are at lower values than earlier in the year. you do have a lot of options so trying to make a deal makes sense. look for someone in your league that’s hurting at WR and see if you can find a deal that makes sense. offering two players like lloyd and johnson for an upgrade would be good.
