2011 Fantasy Football RB Rankings – Week 9

.
Here’s the LestersLegends’ Week 9 2011 fantasy football running back rankings.
.
1. Arian Foster vs. Cleveland: The Browns are giving up 127.3 ypg on the ground. Dual threat Foster should put up another monster game.
2. LeSean McCoy vs. Chicago: Facing the number one rushing defense didn’t slow down Shady. Neither will Da Bears.
3. Beanie Wells vs. St. Louis: Beanie actually showed some toughness last week. Throw in a match-up with the league’s worst run defense (165.6 ypg) and you should have a winner.
4. Fred Jackson vs. New York Jets: Jets are giving up 126.9 ypg on the ground. Bills will turn to Jackson plenty in the passing game as well as their wides will likely struggle.
5. Michael Turner @ Indianapolis: The Colts rank 31st with 144.0 rushing yards allowed per game. They don’t have the size to slow down Turner.
6. Matt Forte @ Philadelphia: The Eagles’ run defense has improved, but Forte does it all.
7. Frank Gore @ Washington: Gore continues to put up massive numbers. He’s averaging 131.8 yards and a touchdown in his past four games.
8. Ray Rice @ Pittsburgh: Pittsburgh is a tough draw, but Rice remains a must-start.
9. Michael Bush vs. Denver: Looks like McFadden won’t be able to play making Bush a solid RB1.
10. Steven Jackson @ Arizona: Suddenly S-Jax looks like a top ten back again. He’s averaging 129.7 total yards and a TD in his past three games.
11. Shonn Greene @ Buffalo: The Bills are giving up 120 ypg. Greene is averaging 95.3 total yards in his past three games.
12. DeMarco Murray vs. Seattle: He had a strong follow-up to his breakout game. His team just played him out of the game. That shouldn’t be the case against Seattle.
13. Mike Tolbert vs. Green Bay: The Packers are tough against the run, but Tolbert is active in the passing game as well. Plus, it doesn’t look like there will be much competition for touches thanks to injuries.
14. Cedric Benson @ Tennessee: Should be fresh after sitting out last week. The Titans are giving up 129.3 rushing ypg.
15. Rashard Mendenhall vs. Baltimore: Very tough match-up. You’ll have to hope for a score from Mendy to crack double-digit fantasy points.
16. Darren Sproles vs. Tampa Bay: Sproles continues to get a ton of looks in the passing game. He’s a safe RB2.
17. LeGarrette Blount @ New Orleans: Should receive little competition for carries against a Saints team giving up 124.1 ypg.
18. Brandon Jacobs @ New England: With Bradshaw out suddenly Jacobs becomes a RB2.
19. Chris Johnson vs. Cincinnati: CJ0.5K is in a season long funk. Bengals have second best run defense (85.4 ypg allowed)
20. Knowshon Moreno @ Oakland: Should get another start with McGahee out. Raiders are giving up 116.9 ypg.
21. Reggie Bush @ Kansas City: Do I think Bush will have a repeat of last week? No, but I liked what I saw from him and KC struggles with the run.
22. BenJarvus Green-Ellis vs. New York Giants: Patriots are hard to predict, but the G-Men are giving up 130.1 rushong ypg and Belichick typically exploits weaknesses.
23. Jackie Battle vs. Miami: The Dolphins actually have a pretty solid run defense. They have only allowed three rushing TDs and 109.9 ypg.
24. James Starks @ San Diego: Chargers are giving up 117.7 rushing yards per game.
25. Chris Ogbonnaya @ Houston: Houston has a solid defense, but with Peyton Hillis likely out Ogbonnaya should get a lot of touches.
26. Daniel Thomas @ Kansas City: If his hamstring is good to go he will still split carries with Reggie Bush.
27. Delone Carter vs. Atlanta: Averaging 50.5 yards and 0.5 TDs over the past four games.
28. Ryan Torain @ San Francisco: Nearly impossible to use him against the Niners’ top run defense (73.4 ypg).
29. Bernard Scott @ Tennessee: Earned some extra carries with his play last week.
30. Javon Ringer vs. Cincinnati: Outplayed CJ0.5K. He should get more looks.

1.) Would you trade Cruz, Benson for Austin or Bryant (also would you trade Cruz straight up for either of the two?)
2.) Would you rather have down the stretch Austin or Bryant?
3.) Would you trade Vjax for Austin?!
Thanks!!!!

1. Would certainly move Cruz straight up for either two. If you had significant RB depth and neither are starters for you I would do it.
2. I like Dez better.
3. I’d rather have VJax. I don’t like Austin’s Week 16 date with Philly.

Who would you play this week N wasgington, S Holmes, R Wayne, J Nelson, D Hester and your reason why? I need three wide recievers for this week. Rob

I like Holmes in what should be a high scoring affair with Buffalo. The Bills are giving up 265.9 passing ypg. He is probably the most talented WR of the bunch at this point in their careers. I also like Jordy Nelson. He gives you the explosive play ability. Finally I like Reggie Wayne. The numbers haven’t quite come but the looks are there. He’s a talented WR that is going to make some plays. The Colts will be playing from behind and will be passing a lot. The Falcons aren’t strong against the pass.

Would you trade Frank Gore and Bowe for Welker and Steven jackson? This league does not have playoffs.
LestersLegends

I don’t think I make that deal. S-Jax has been nice, but Gore has been unbelievable. PPR makes it closer.

So play Benson and Greene over blount this week?
LestersLegends

That’s my take. You don’t really get a sense of how healthy Blount is since it’s his first game back. Plus the Saints could score big and take Blount out of the game plan. Benson is a little risky because you don’t know if it’s going to be more of a RBBC now. As for Greene I always tend to value a little more than his worth because I just think the potential is there.

I can’t believe it’s come to this … Beanie Wells is available in my league (remember, it’s PPR, so he’s not as valuable as you might think). I’m thinking about dropping either Reggie Wayne or Peyton Hillis for him. Wow.
What do you think?

I guess I should clarify something … if I did pick up Wells, it would probably be for a one-week spot-start only. I’ve got Sproles, Tolbert, and Hillis, for one RB and one W/R spot. Sproles is must-start, and if Mathews is indeed out this week, Tolbert would be a nice fill-in, probably more valuable than Wells.
I also feel that Hillis has more potential value down the stretch in this league, so my instinct is to leave Beanie on the wire … but I could probably be convinced otherwise.

That’s a tough one Grant. What Beanie’s four catches (all in week one) don’t do it for you? I think I’d roll with him over Hillis. This week’s match-up is a dream one. Beanie has seven score in six games. He’s been at 60 and a score in all but one game. His TD consistency kind of offsets his lack of catches. I don’t think people would rush to pick up the Madden Curse at this point.

Breaston, Denarius Moore, or Damian Williams for wr3? Also, Bush, LaRod Stephens-Howling, or Joseph Addai? Thanks!

Standard league and having a difficult time deciding on 2 to start.

What do you think of this deal:
I’m giving Welker and Greene for Turner and Dez Bryant. My WRs would be Bryant and either DHB/Washington/Manningham (or AJohnson when healhty), and my RBs would be Gore and Turner. Thoughts?
LestersLegends
November 2nd, 2011 at 3:45 pm #
I think you have to use Wells in that match-up. He’s had at least 60 and a touch in every game but one. I think you get one more big game out of Murray too before Felix clouds things up.

David. Date night. I’m thinking Breaston and Bush.

Last week you suggested that I pick up B Scott. I did and it worked great–thanks! I no longer need him to start as I have Michael Bush and Sproles (and hopefully J Best will be back for week 10). Should I keep him in reserve or drop him and pick up Javon Ringer?
LestersLegends
November 3rd, 2011 at 5:20 am #
If you don’t have to lose waiver priority or free agent budget then I would make the move to Ringer.

Lester, one more item. I read today that a rumor is floating around that Ahmad Bradshaw has cracked a bone in his foot, but the Giants haven’t announced it yet. Given his possible injury, and Brandon jacobs recent attitude, do you think Jacobs would be a good play against the Pats? I’ll either play him or Javon ringer… thoughts?
LestersLegends
November 3rd, 2011 at 11:07 am #
At this point it looks like Jacobs is the guy.
Justin
November 3rd, 2011 at 12:48 pm #
Well, since Jacobs is a better start than Ringer, then who’s my better flex option….. Ringer or Heyward-Bey?
LestersLegends
November 3rd, 2011 at 12:55 pm #
I like DHB better. Ringer was great last week but it was against the Colts.

Thanks for the advice last week. Who would you start alongside Steven Jackson this week if you had to choose between Daniel Thomas, James Starks or Willis McGahee?
LestersLegends
November 3rd, 2011 at 7:33 pm #
Not sure mcgahee plays. I would probably go with starks

The Broncos Run D has improved this year, but you have Bush ranked 9th. Is he a safer start than Shonn Greene? And for flex would you rather have Reggie Wayne, Jonathan Baldwin, James Starks or Antonio Brown? Thanks!
LestersLegends
November 5th, 2011 at 4:00 pm #
Probably not a safer start but I think Bush could be a beast. I’d go with Antonio Brown.
