2011 Fantasy Football Start/Sit Week 16

Dec 21, 2011

.
Here’s a look at LestersLegends sit and start advice as you set your lineups for the 16th week of the NFL season.
.
Quarterbacks
Start:
Tim Tebow @ Buffalo: I know you didn’t go into the season thinking you’d be using Tebow in your title game (or third place game), but’s been solid in all but one game. The Bills are middle of the road against the pass, but have allowed 26 passing scores. The real magic will come when he’s running the ball against their 29th-ranked run defense (139.5 ypg).
.
Sit:
Joe Flacco vs. Cleveland: Same scenario as last week. Flacco is too inconsistent to count on in your title game. It’s likely that there’s an available QB in your league that makes a better play than Joe. Plus the Browns rank third with 188.4 passing ypg allowed.
.
Running Backs
Start:
LeGarrette Blount vs. Carolina: The Panthers rank 25th with 130.4 rushing ypg allowed. They are also one of four teams that have allowed 16 or more rushing scores. They shut him down a couple of weeks ago, but I expect he gets revenge at home.
.
Sit:
BenJarvus Green-Ellis vs. Miami: He has nine TDs on the year and four in his past four games, but he’s averaged just 31.5 total yards in those games. If he doesn’t score, you’re in trouble.
.
Wide Receivers
Start:
Jabar Gaffney and Santana Moss vs. Minnesota: Their favorable fantasy playoffs schedule (NE, NYG) continues with the pathetic Vikings. While the Pats may give up more yards per game, nobody has allowed more passing scores (31). Perhaps the most pathetic part is they have just six INTs on the year.
.
Sit:
Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon vs. Houston: Wayne scored last week. Yeah. The Colts were finally able to win. Double yeah! That doesn’t mean I’d play either of their WRs though against the Texans’ second-ranked pass defense (181.1 ypg).
.
Tight Ends
Start:
Brent Celek @ Dallas: Celek has averaged 5.0 catches for 66.7 yards with three TDs in his past nine games. In the first meeting with Dallas he caught seven passes for 94 yards and a score. Unless you have one of the big dogs, Celek should be in your lineup.
.
Sit:
Greg Olsen vs. Tampa Bay: Olsen has solid overall numbers (45 catches, 540 yards, 5 TDs), but he has just 15 catches in his past six games with one TD and a 30.2 ypg average.
.
Defenses
Start:
Cincinnati vs. Arizona: The Cardinals are hot right now, but they don’t score a lot of points and give up a sack. Even if the Bengals lose, that’s a good recipe for a fantasy defense.
.
Sit:
Atlanta Falcons & New Orleans: Both defenses were huge last week, but obviously face much better teams (and QBs) this week. I’m expecting a shootout so look elsewhere for a defense.

Need advice — I’m in my championship game in 12 team non-ppr league. Need to pick 3 of these 4 for RB and Flex: mccoy, cj2k, ryan matthews, and marshawn lynch.

I think mccoy and matthews are must starts so it comes down to lynch vs. cj2k. Lynch has been a beast, but I think cj2k’s upside is greater. he could bust several long runs whereas lynch’s points will come around the goal line.

    Thoughts?

With you on Shady and Mathews. I like Lynch a little better because CJ1K has been such a disappointment. That said, I totally see where you’re going with the upside. He does have a better match-up. He is dealing with an ankle injury though as well, which is something to consider.

Hi Lester! Barber or BJGE? Need two out of these four Wr’s? Wallace usually automatic but Batch maybe? Maclin who I like this week and scored on the Cowboys earlier this year? D. Bryant at home didn’t do well in there first matchup? P. Harvin who laid a stinker last week with A.P back he scares me fear the run is over? Lion Te’s or Jet Te’s? Example I get Pettigrew & Sheffler. K Hanson or Carpenter? Lion D/ST or Falcon D/ST? thx merry x-mas Ben!

Tough call at RB. I like The Firm a little better because he scores and Barber seems to be out of favor in CHI. Good WRs. Tough decision. I like Dez and Percy is Ben doesn’t play. If he does play, I like Wallace over Dez. I think they do a better job with Percy this week. Maclin is safer over Percy and Dez though.
