Jan 11, 2011

Illinois running back Mikel Leshoure has declared for the upcoming 2011 NFL Draft. The 6’1″, 230 pound junior ran for 1697 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also caught 17 passes for 196 yards and three more scores.
He had 17 of his 20 touchdowns in his last seven games, including a five touchdown game (3 rushing, 2 receiving) against Michigan, a three touchdown game (2 rushing, 1 receiving) against Purdue, and three rushing touchdowns in the Texas Bowl against Baylor.
Leshoure ripped Baylor for 184 yards to help Illinois win 38-14. He destroyed Northwestern for 330 yards.  He had an astonishing 917 rushing yards (1011 total) in is last five games at a 7.5 ypc clip.
He figures to be the first or second running back off the board in the 2011 NFL draft, perhaps in the late first/early second round. Depending upon where he lands, he could be a solid addition to fantasy teams next year.
