2012 Get ‘em or Don’t Sweat ‘em – Week 8

Oct 22, 2012

.
There were some unusual he.roes on Sunday. There always are. Let’s take a look at them and see if they are worthy of your fantasy rosters.
.
Mark Sanchez, QB, New York Jets
Sanchez threw for 328  yards and a touchdown. Before you get ahead of yourself, realize that he played the Patriots’ weak pass defense.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.
.
Jamie Harper, RB, Tennessee Titans
Harper scored a pair of touchdowns, his third in the past two weeks. He faced the Bills, who are terrible against the run. He only has value if Chris Johnson goes down.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.
.
Rashad Jennings, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Filled in for the injured MJD and had 102 yards. If Mojo misses any time, Jennings will be a must-own.
Ruling:  Get ‘em.
.
LaRod Stephens-Howling, RB, Arizona Cardinals
It was Stephens-Howling’s turn as he racked up 149 total yards. Powell did his thing last week. It’s a frustrating situation, but you got to add him.
Ruling:  Get ‘em.
.
Chris Givens, WR, St. Louis Rams
Givens caught three passes on five targets for 73 yards. He’s been fairly productive the past four games, averaging 65.3.
Ruling:  Get ‘em.
.
Donald Jones, WR, Buffalo Bills
Jones caught four passes on five targets for 47 yards and a touchdown.  He doesn’t provided consistent fantasy points. He’s only a plug-in option.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.
.
Jeremy Kerley, WR, New York Jets
Kerley caught seven passes on eleven targets for 120 yards. He’s the top dog with Holmes out.
Ruling:  Get ‘em.
.
Brandon LaFell, WR, Carolina Panthers
LaFell caught four passes on eight targets for 53 yards and a score. He has been disappointing for a player that was expected to have a breakout year. If you have a roster spot available he may be worth a look.
Ruling:  Get ‘em.
.
Greg Little, WR, Cleveland Browns
Little caught six passes on seven targets for 52 yards and a score. Gordon is the Brown receiver to own. If Little can build on this game he’d be worth adding in the future. For now, look elsewhere.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.
.
Cecil Shorts III, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
Caught four of ten targets for 79 yards and a touchdown. I don’t trust their passing game.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.
.
Kevin Walter, WR, Houston Texans
Walter caught four passes on six targets for 74 yards and a touchdown. He’s coming on lately, but the Texans don’t pass enough for him to be a good option.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.
.
Dallas Clark, TE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Clark caught five passes on six targets for 51 yards and a touchdown. Good to see him back, but I wouldn’t roster him.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.
.
Dustin Keller, TE, New York Jets
He caught all seven of his targets for 93 yards and a score. He won’t be a consistent option, but he is a solid TE2.
Ruling:  Get ‘em.
.
Logan Paulsen, TE, Washington Redskins
Caught four passes on six targets for 76 yards. He’ll get more run with Fred Davis out. I’d probably look elsewhere to replace Davis, especially with Chris Cooley coming in.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.

Just wanted to state an error. For Rashad Jennings you talk about how he is a must own if MJD misses time, then your ruling is “Don’t Get ‘em”. I assume you started typing Don’t Sweat ‘em and forgot to take out the Don’t when you changed it to Get ‘em. Same for Dustin Keller.

Hey lester, I have the number 1 waiver in my league. My running backs are Mathews, Reggie, Doug Martin, and Dwyer… I dont want to blow my load and waster my number 1 waiver. Do you think it would be a good idea to use it on Rashad or Stevens-Howling this week? Note, they would really just be trade bait, but Im afraid to let someone else get them, and they keep it up.

Rashad. Mojo could be down for the count.

Hey lester, I’m planning on using my waiver this week to get Howling. I have Celek, Pettigrew, and Rudolph. But I also have garcon, jennings, and manningham. Who would you drop? I’d like to keep garcon for playoff potential in the late weeks (if he shows up)

I’d say manningham but i also don’t think you need three tight ends.
