2012 Fantasy Football DEF Rankings – Week 2

Sep 12, 2012

With an exciting first week under our belts, here are the LestersLegends 2012 Week 2 fantasy football team defense rankings.
1. Houston Texans
Their defense looks rock solid again. They are tied with the fewest points allowed (ten) and they face Jacksonville, which should lead to a high defensive point total for the Texans.
2. New England Patriots
The Patriots looked good against Tennessee. Facing Arizona at home should keep them near the top of the early season defensive rankings.
3.  Cincinnati Bengals
They got chewed up in Week 1, but I think that’s more an indication of how good the Ravens are. They should destroy the Browns.
4.  New York Giants
They gave up a ton of yardage to Dallas, but should bounce back against the Bucs at home.
5. Pittsburgh Steelers
Do I think the Jets’ offense is suddenly for real? Not exactly. I think Pittsburgh’s defense will get the media talking again about Tebow.
6.  Oakland Raiders
They allowed the fifth fewest yards (258) to the Chargers. Should continue to be solid against Miami.
7. Washington Redskins
They held their own against the Saints. The Rams should be a much better match-up.
8. Baltimore Ravens
Vick looked horrible against the Browns last week. Baltimore should keep the offense somewhat in check.
9.  San Francisco 49ers
The Niners have a tough match-up against the Lions, but they are still a top ten fantasy defense.
10. San Diego Chargers
They held the Raiders to 14 points. Tennessee has question marks on offense.
11. Dallas Cowboys
Ware should be able to get to the QB. The Seahawks struggled to move the chains in the opener.
12. New York Jets
Without a reliable running game the Steelers aren’t as explosive on offense, which should help the Jets.
13. Minnesota Vikings
If nothing else, I expect Jared Allen to get to Andrew Luck.
14. Philadelphia Eagles
As explosive as the Ravens looked, I wouldn’t want Philly’s defense in my fantasy lineup this week.
15. Chicago Bears
They have potential to put up multiple sacks. I just wouldn’t start them against the Packers.
16. Detroit Lions
After the handshake kerfuffle the Lions will be fired up to face San Fran. I still wouldn’t start them though.

Does Detroit’s offense really scare you enough to not recommend using the 49ers this week?

I agree they aren’t an elite choice, but I would still include them in the Top 10…

I think I’m so used to them being near the top I forgot them along the way. Thanks for the catch.
