2012 Fantasy Football DEF Rankings – Week 3

Sep 18, 2012

With an exciting second week under our belts, here are the LestersLegends 2012 Week 3 fantasy football team defense rankings.
1. San Francisco 49ers
Finally the Niners get a match-up that should reward those who chose them as the number one fantasy defense off the board. They rank eleventh in total defense (310.0 ypg) and tied for ninth in scoring defense (20.5 ppg). They should manhandle the Vikings.
2. Philadelphia Eagles
The Cardinals are 2-0, but it hasn’t been pretty. The Eagles have underachieve on offense, but their defense, which ranks fourth in total defense (267.5 ypg) and seventh in scoring defense (19.5 ppg) has been rock solid.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers rank seventh in total defense (276.5 ypg) and tied for ninth in scoring defense (20.5 ppg). The Raiders are struggling at just 13.5 ppg.
4. Chicago Bears
The Rams get the Bears at a dangerous time. They have had plenty of rest and their pride has been damaged. They rank in the top half in total and scoring defense.
5. Detroit Lions
The Lions rank tenth in total defense (299.5 ypg) and the Titans are last in the league with 11.5 ypg.
6. Green Bay Packers
They are coming off a brilliant game. With extra time to rest they should be solid against Seattle, who has struggled offensively ranking 28th in total offense (284.5 ypg).
7. New York Jets
Miami exploded last week, but were handled by the Texans in the opener. I’m guessing they’re somewhere in between against the Jets.
8. Dallas Cowboys
Tampa Bay is 29th in total offense (282.5 ypg). Dallas ranks ninth in total defense (292.0 ypg)
9. Houston Texans
They rank first in total defense (196.0 ypg) and scoring defense (8.5 ppg). They have a tough match-up against Peyton and company, but they have been too good to ignore.
10. Indianapolis Colts
They aren’t a sound defensive team, but they are playing at home against Jacksonville’s weak offense. The Jags rank last in total offense (236.0 ypgs) and 30th in scoring (15.0 ppg).
11. Baltimore Ravens
They have a tough match-up against New England, but they are playing at home. They may give up a lot of yards, but they may not yield a ton of points.
12. Jacksonville Jaguars
Andrew Luck has looked good at times, but the Colts are in the bottom third in scoring and total offense.
13. Buffalo Bills
The Bills have been terrible defensively, but if they get that offense going they could make things tough on Cleveland.
14. New Orleans Saints
The Saints may finally look like themselves offensively against the Chiefs. If they make the game one-dimensional, they could make things tough on Kansas City.
15. St. Louis Rams
It all depends on which Jay Cutler shows up, but if the bad one does the Rams could have multiple sacks and picks.

Six of one, half dozen of the other. I like them better this week and I don’t like Atlanta next week against Carolina either so I can see it.
