2012 Fantasy Football DEF Rankings – Week 8

Oct 23, 2012

.
With an exciting seventh week under our belts, here are the LestersLegends 2012 Week 8 fantasy football team defense rankings.
.
1. San Francisco 49ers
The Niners rank first in total defense (272.3 yards allowed per game) and second in scoring defense (14.3 points allowed per game). Arizona ranks 31st in total offense (293.4 ypg), 27th in scoring offense (17.7 ppg), and have allowed a league-high 35 sacks.
.
2. Green Bay Packers
The Jags are a hurting unit and ranked last in total offense (235.8 ypg) and scoring offense (14.7 ppg). Take away Maurice Jones-Drew and it gets ugly.
.
3. Chicago Bears
They are such an opportunistic unit. They have 21 takeaways and five touchdowns. Throw in the Devin Hester threat in the return game and you’re in business. Carolina is in the bottom third in yardage and scoring.
.
4. New England Patriots
St. Louis is in the bottom third in yardage and scoring. If it’s rainy in London the Rams could have trouble moving the ball through the air. The Pats play the run well so it could work in their favor.
.
5. Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings are tough at home giving up just 14.3 ppg. The Bucs are red hot on offense, but Jared Allen and company will bring the heat.
.
6. San Diego Chargers
With Trent Richardson banged up the Browns could struggle to move the ball and put points on the board against the Chargers.
.
7. Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks are fifth in total defense (297.3 ypg) and third in scoring defense (15.1). Detroit is averaging just 15.3 points over the past three games.
.
8. Oakland Raiders
Brady Quinn is staring for the Chiefs, which is a scary thought. They’ll stuff the box in an attempt to slow down Charles. If it works it will be ugly.
.
9. Detroit Lions
The Lions aren’t scoring, but their defense has stepped up by averaging 18.7 points allowed over the past three games. Seattle ranks 30th in total offense (293.6 ypg) and 31st in scoring offense (16.6 ppg).
.
10. New York Jets
In the past three games they have played the Patriots and Texans tough while destroying the Colts. The Dolphins are 21st and 22nd in total offense and scoring offense respectively.

What are your thoughts for week 8… Minnesota or Atlanta? I know you ranked Minnesota at 5 and Atlanta didn’t even make the list… but Atlanta is going up against the turnover prone Eagles.

they are but they are still capable of putting up big points. they could have fixed some things coming out of the bye. More risky imo.

Pats D or Miamis D with no special team points. I have a feeling the Rams are gonna get a few passing TD’s on Pats. I know the Jets can do the same against Miami. Thanks Man.

I don’t have the Fins in my top ten. Jets are a tough team to predict.
