2012 Fantasy Football QB Rankings – Week 15

Dec 10, 2012

With an exciting 14th week under our belts, here are the LestersLegends 2012 Week 15 fantasy football quarterback rankings.
1. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints
Brees is really getting into the holiday spirit of giving. He has thrown seven interceptions with just one touchdown pass in his past two games. Fortunately for Brees owners, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are even more festive. They have allowed 311.6 passing yards per game. Brees lit them up like a Christmas tree to the tune of 377 yards and four touchdowns in the first meeting.
2. Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers
Cam Newton is hitting his stride at just the right time. He’s averaging 275 passing yards, 2.3 passing touchdowns, 82 rushing yards and one rushing score in his past three games. The San Diego Chargers have allowed 242.9 yards per game and 24 passing scores. He’s a Dasher with the arm of a Comet. Enjoy the ride.
3. Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons
After doing his version of Silent Night in the first half of Week 14′s matchup with the Panthers, Matty Ice exploded to finish with 342 yards and a pair of touchdowns. His team lost, but Matty Ice did right by fantasy owners. The New York Giants have allowed 252.8 passing yards per game.
4. Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos
Manning has the Broncos marching to the beat of the Drummer Boy. He’ll march East to face the Baltimore Ravens. They have allowed 246.6 yards per game. Peyton is averaging 293.2 yards per game and has already thrown 30 touchdown passes. Pa rum pum pum pum.
5. Tom Brady, New England Patriots
The Patriots have a possible Super Bowl preview against the San Francisco 49ers. Brady and Bill Belichick live for this games like this. Jim Harbaugh will try to be a Grinch, but I expect Brady to spread holiday cheer.
6. Eli Manning, New York Giants
Do you see what I see? The Giants looking very hard to beat. Eli has eight touchdown passes in his past three games. He travels to the Dirty South to take on a suddenly vulnerable Atlanta Falcons team.
8. Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions
If the Arizona Cardinals would put up even a hint of a fight, Stafford could be in line for a monster day. I still think he’ll have a solid showing, but the way the Seattle Seahawks Jingle Bell rocked the Cards last week, he may not attempt as many passes as you’re used to.
8. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
The Chicago Bears go from facing one of the worst quarterbacks in the league (Christian Ponder) to facing one of the best in Rodgers. He may be dashing through the snow in Chicago, but Rodgers is used to it. Rodgers has been mediocre at best since his Week 10 bye. He has more risk this week than the other elite quarterback options.
9. Josh Freeman, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Freeman and his ships come sailing in to New Orleans in the morning. The Saints have allowed 284.5 yards per game and 27 passing scores. Freeman threw for 420 yards and three touchdowns in the first meeting.
10. Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers
Big Ben did his part last week throwing for 285 yards and three touchdowns against the Chargers after missing three games. The Dallas Cowboys won an emotional game last week, but the loss of their teammate could feel more real this week.
11. Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals
Dalton the red-haired QB struggled against the Cowboys, but should deck the halls against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Iggles have allowed 25 passing touchdowns.
12. Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers
It would have taken one of the Three Wise Men to predict that Rivers would throw three touchdowns against the Steelers. With DX and Malcom Floyd playing at a high level, Rivers is able to overcome the disappearing act that Antonio Gates has had. Rivers is a low-end QB1 against the Panthers.
13. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
Romo is averaging 331.3 yards and a pair of touchdown passes in his past four games. The Steelers are allowing just 169.2 passing yards per game, which could mean tough sledding for Romo and company.
14. Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts
Luck has more interceptions (nine) than touchdowns (eight) in his past four games. He whiffed on a favorable matchup against the Tennessee Titans. The Colts play the Houston Texans on the road. J.J. Watt could make Luck feel like he got run over by a reindeer.
15. Carson Palmer, Oakland Raiders
Palmer is like a Christmas present that I wrapped. With six straight losses it isn’t pretty. Once you get past the exterior, the sentiment changes. He’s averaging 310.7 yards and 2.2 touchdowns during that stretch. The Kansas City Chiefs have allowed 25 passing scores.

Considering the recent play of Aaron Rodgers in the last two months, do you think I’m crazy benching him in favor of Josh Freeman?

I don’t know that I could sit Rodgers in a playoff game, but Freeman is definitely a quality option this week. It wouldn’t be that far-fetched.

With RGIII’s injury, I’m in need of some QB advice. I currently have Philip Rivers as my back-up. It’s evident San Diego’s offense has not been great.

Some of the “top” guys available are Nick Foles, Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins, Colin Kaepernick, Chad Henne, and Jay Cutler. Would you stick with Rivers or try to nab one of those guys I listed.

Luck was anything but Lucky with his numbers yesterday. I never imaged, but that bad call hurt him. Thankfully, the big boys came through & all got in the red zone yesterday. Gost & Hern haven’t played yet so I already won. I hope I get a 1st round bye since that puts me at 11-3. It would be nice to have a break & worry about who’s the better match up Brady @ Jac or Luck @ KC? Guess I’ll know tomorrow or Wednesday. Hope your weekend went well!

I’d stick with Rivers personally Rick. Wilson is an option, but it could be heavy on the Lynch. Cousins is an unknown. Kaepernick will face Belichick for the first time. Henne is whatever. Cutler is banged up.
Dr Mel – Good thing your guys picked up the slack for Luck!

I have them 1 and 2. If Brees gives you a bad taste, go with Cam.

I’d advise against that, but good luck.

Benching Rodgers is not crazy at all – going against the Bears stout D on the road with a weak offensive line and possibly in the snow, hahaha! I’m starting Wilson or Kapernick over that bum. He single handedly lost me my other league in week 14.

Good luck with that Joel. That bum has 160 touchdown passes to 45 interceptions over the past five years. Throw in 17 touchdown runs.

I hope you’re right but I think you have him ranked too high this week IMO. Thanks for all that you do Lester.

I agree. Your comments made me dig a little deeper and you guys are right. I slid him down to 8. Given the way he’s played, that could still be too generous.

Hi lester! I need to play three WR. Out of these people who would you start B. Marshall, E. Decker, C. Shorts, P Garcon, W. Welker, J Maclin. I know I liking B Marshal and Wes Welker, But I like P Garcon but he going to be followed by Joe haden (Yipes). So I am needing your advice.

Marshall isn’t an option. He’s an automatic. You need two.

Welker and Garcon are my picks. I can see Decker if you don’t feel good about Garcon.

Hi Lester! Need ur help 1st rd playoffs? Eli or Romo? but I can pick up Freeman and who would you drop? Or would you sit tight with one of those two Qb’s? It does cost me 100pts for a Freeman pickup and a first rd. win is only worth 100pts. Rb’s which 3 out of these 4? Charles, Rice, Lynch, Spiller? Wr Need 2 out these 4 Marshall automatic, Nicks, Jennings, Maclin? Kicker Tucker or Walsh? Def/ST Pats or Bears? thx

I’d play it safe with Eli personally. RG3 is super human though.
