2012 Fantasy Football RB Rankings – Week 10

Nov 5, 2012

With an exciting ninth week under our belts, here are the LestersLegends 2012 Week 10 fantasy football running back rankings.
1. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
Peterson is averaging the highest total yards per game total (123.0) of his brilliant career. He has four touchdowns in the past three games. This is with a brutal passing attack. He gashed Seattle last week and should do the same against Detroit.
2. Marshawn Lynch, Seattle Seahawks
Beast Mode has three straight 100-yard games and five on the year. The Jets are giving up 141.4 rushing yards per game. They are in trouble.
3. Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens
Rice is averaging 109.2 total yards and 0.75 touchdowns per game. Oakland has allowed ten rushing touchdowns and 124.1 rushing yards per game.
4. Arian Foster, Houston Texans
The matchup with Chicago is tough, but Foster has scored in ten straight games dating back to last year. In fact, he has scored in sixteen of his past seventeen games.
5. Doug Martin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Martin has 486 total yards and six touchdowns in the past two games. San Diego has a solid run defense, but this dude is on fire.
6. Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers
Gore comes out of the bye averaging 97.1 yards and 0.5 touchdowns per game. He’s a great play against St. Louis.
7. LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia Eagles
Shady is starting to be more active in the passing game again. He’s a strong play against Dallas.
8. Reggie Bush, Miami Dolphins
Bush had a beautiful touchdown against the Colts. He should blow up against Tennessee. The Titans have allowed 141.6 rushing yards per game and nine touchdowns.
9. Matt Forte, Chicago Bears
Forte has a tough draw against Houston. They have not allowed a rushing touchdown all year. He’s averaging 117.3 total yards in his past four games though.
10. Willis McGahee, Denver Broncos
McGahee is averaging 98.8 total yards and 0.5 touchdowns per game. The Panthers are yielding 119.0 rushing yards per game.
11. Stevan Ridley, New England Patriots
Ridley bounced back from two sub-par games with 127 yards and a touchdown prior to last week’s bye. Buffalo has allowed 169.5 rushing yards per game and 14 rushing touchdowns. Stevan scored twice in their first meeting.
12. Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans
Miami is only giving up 83.9 rushing yards per game, but Johnson is averaging 143.5 total yards in his past four games.
13. Ryan Mathews, San Diego Chargers
Tampa Bay has a stout run defense, but Mathews is a threat in the passing game as well.
14. BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Cincinnati Bengals
The Firm found his way into the end zone against Denver. The Giants got gashed by Pittsburgh last week and have allowed 118.0 rushing yards per game.
15. Ahmad Bradshaw, New York Giants
Bradshaw had a quiet game against Pittsburgh. He should be better against Cincinnati. The Bengals have allowed 117.0 rushing yards per game and nine rushing touchdowns.
16. Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons
The Saints have been brutal against the run. Turner is coming off a strong game against Dallas.
17. C.J. Spiller, Buffalo Bills
I don’t expect Spiller to do his damage on the ground, but he should be very productive in the passing game.
18. Vick Ballard, Indianapolis Colts
Ballard dominated the touches with Donald Brown hurting. I expect him to do the same against Jacksonville. The Jags have allowed 137.4 rushing yards per game.
19. Mikel LeShoure, Detroit Lions
LeShoure ran for three touchdowns in the first half. The Vikings have been brutal the past two game as Doug Martin and Lynch ripped them apart.
20. Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs
He hasn’t been able to get anything going, averaging 41.0 total yards the past three games. Taking on Pittsburgh won’t help.
21. Pierre Thomas, New Orleans Saints
Decent RB2 against Atlanta. The Falcons have allowed 127.5 rushing yards per game.
22. Isaac Redman, Pittsburgh Steelers
Redman will draw the start, but Dwyer will likely get some action in. The Steelers have been pounding the football so Redman should be a solid play. The Chiefs are giving up 126.0 yards per game on the ground.
23. Rashad Jennings, Jacksonville Jaguars
Jennings didn’t get a chance to get many carries as the Jags got blitzed by Detroit. He wasn’t able to get it going in the passing game either. He should be better against the Colts. They are giving up 130.8 rushing yards per game.
24. Shonn Greene, New York Jets
Despite what Adrian Peterson did to them, the Seahawks are a tough run defense. Greene will have his work cut out for him.
25. Jonathan Stewart, Carolina Panthers
Led the team in carries against Washington, but it was Cam and DeAngelo to score. He’s only a borderline RB2 against Denver.
26. Fred Jackson, Buffalo Bills
Jackson should also have a decent day, mostly in receiving yards, against New England.
27.Felix Jones, Dallas Cowboys
I still don’t expect Murray back. Had a decent game against Atlanta, but a lot of it came in garbage time. Not a great play against Philly.
28. Daniel Thomas, Miami Dolphins
Didn’t see double-digit carries against Indy, but finished with 62 total yards. Should be solid against Tennessee.
29. Marcel Reece, Oakland Raiders
Should get extra touches against Baltimore with the Raiders’ injury situation at running back.
30. Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams
He’s sharing the load with Richardson and facing a stout Niners defense. Look for another option if possible.

What’s up Les? 6-3 and have a matchup with the guy who’s 7-2 this week. I like my matchups. Here’s how i have my lineup set.
QB- Big Ben (home v. KC)
RB- Ray Rice (home v. OAK)
    WR- Julio Jones (@ NO)
TE- Jimmy Graham (home v. ATL)
F- Marques Colston (home v. ATL)
F- Stevan Ridley (home v. BUFF)

Bench- Wallace v. KC, Charles @ PIT, RJennings v. IND, Witten @ PHIL.
Keep the lineup how i have it? Or would you swap someone out?

I have 2 D/T’s playing each other this week. Chicago at home vs. Houston. Leaning towards Chicago. Who would you start? Are either good plays this week? Somehow i think the Bears win this game? Thoughts?

Thanks again for you advice. I appreciate it.

Greg Jennings was dropped in my league. Should i drop Antonio Brown and pick him up for the playoff run? Brown is hurting, and i don’t play him over Jones, Colston, or Wallace anyways. Any chance Jennings gets healthy and plays anytime soon?

i don’t have faith in jennings getting healthy, but it’s not a bad gamble.

I’d keep lineup like you have it. I’d go with Chi over Hou D.

Thanks again. I heard the Mike Mularkey say MJD, (who i have in my IR slot), Is ruled out this week for Thursday’s game, but the following week is a possibility/questionable to play. Have you heard anything about MJD’s tentative return?

I’m looking to sell high on Leshoure, offer him for Chris Johnson (ppr league)…is that the right move for me?

  8. LestersLegends
    November 6th, 2012 at 9:31 am #

    Haven’t heard yet.
Joe – Possibly. You won’t get a good answer. It will have to be a gut decision.
Dan – i’d do that. Doubt they will accept, but worth a shot.

Do you think rashad Jennings or Vick Ballard is a better play at flex this week? I picked up Dwyer as well but if I don’t hear anything about his status I may have to lean on one of the other guys

  10. LestersLegends

    Ballard, but Jennings is safer.

So I have Mendenhall in my flex position, if neither him or Harvin play who is the better free agent pickup? B. myers, M. Greece, T. Jones, G. Tate, or J. Kerley?

12 team league, my 4 rb’s are marshawn lynch, ryan mathews, reggie bush, and jonathan dwyer. Obviously have lynch locked as my rb1, but who should i play for rb2? Its been mathews, but hes had three underachieving games in a row and bush is primed for a breakout game against the titans. It’s just hard to bench mathews for bush knowing that mathews is due for a breakout game soon…. help?

  16. LestersLegends
    November 6th, 2012 at 10:21 pm #

    I have Bush ranked higher.

As for Mathews, he had 72 total yards, 104, and 93. Wouldn’t call that underachieving.

    Get- M Lynch
    Give- Julio

I only start 1 RB 1 WR and 2 Flex spots
RB’s- Rice, Ridley, Charles, MJD (on IR)
WR’s- Julio, Wallace, Colston, Jennings (stashed on bench)

Would you make this deal? PPR.

My eventual problem being, when MJD comes back in a few weeks, i would have to drop an RB. (Charles?). Maybe i should stand pat.

I think it’s a matter of preference. You’re more likely to plug lynch in your lineup than Julio I’d think.

    QB: ryan
RB: martin, mccoy, donald brown, dwyer, mendy
WR: julio, lloyd, crabtree, steve johnson, ty hilton, chris givens
    TE: gronk
    DEF: miami and NYG

need 1 RB, 2 RB/WR, and 2 WR. I’m thinking martin, mccoy, julio, lloyd, and ty hilton in the flex (since avery got hurt, but it looks like he will play). Thinking to drop mendy. Also, do you think I need another TE on my roster?

here are my picks for week 10. I feel like i am taking a gamble. tell me if you think i have some good choices here.
    qb- Matt ryan, Andrew Luck
    Rb- Marshawn lynch, doug martin
    Wr- julio jones, titus young
    Te- ed dickeson
    K – Justin Medlock – carolina
    Defense – Colts

im playing gridiron challenge on espn website, so i have a 50 mill salary cap, and i am risking picking the cheapest TE, K, for the expensive matt ryan, andrew luck, doug martin, marshawn lynch, and julio jones. i need a big week. my biggest fear is that san diego will stop doug martin. help me feel better please.

  22. LestersLegends
    November 7th, 2012 at 12:49 pm #

Nat – no need for another TE. I’d use stevie or crabtree over Hilton
dudesta – I think that looks like a solid lineup.

I have i. redman, m. reece, f. jones, d. brown for this weeks rbs. I’m thinking of going with redman, just not sure who i should plug in for my other rb slot.

  24. LestersLegends
    November 7th, 2012 at 4:15 pm #

I’d say felix. of course redman is a tough one if the other backs can go.

Well the major concern all year came true and McFadden looks like he’ll be out this week. I only have Kendall Hunter as a back up. Should I go after any of these guys instead: Andre Brown, Joquie Bell, Woodhead, Daniel Thomas, Jacquizz Rodgers, or Dexter McCluster? Standard league

Hey Les, I need a win badly this week. I’m 3-6 and on the verge of not making the playoffs. I need to start 2 RB. I have Leshoure, Bradshaw, Ballard and Redman. Which two? Bradshaw been killing me lately. I see he’s rank higher than everybody else but don’t have faith in him. Help please!

  30. LestersLegends
    November 8th, 2012 at 8:47 am #

I think Ballard should be a solid play. LeShoure would be who I turn to if you don’t want to roll with Bradshaw and Redman is sharing with Dwyer and/or Mendy.

How-ya doing Les, Leshoure over Charles this week? No brainer right?

  32. LestersLegends
    November 8th, 2012 at 2:55 pm #

I’d say it’s pretty close but I have LeShoure a little higher.

Lester! awesome call with Andrew luck and Colts. I was leaning towards them in the first place, and you made me feel more confident. This year is by far my best year, and i put so much more time into studying other teams stats, etc… It just makes the games so much more fun. I am a bit concerned still about playing martin against chargers. They have a good statistical defense against the run. My other guy is Marshawn but i believe he has not been practicing due to an injury. how much of a risk do you think im taking with them. I need to get at least15 points from each rb this week to win against my opp.

  34. LestersLegends
    November 9th, 2012 at 3:39 pm #

Nice. I think Marshawn will be fine. He’s one of the few power runners left in the league. They have to give guys like he and AP some rest during the week because they play so physical.
