2012 Fantasy Football RB Rankings – Week 13

Nov 26, 2012

With an exciting 12th week under our belts, here are the LestersLegends 2012 Week 13 fantasy football running back rankings.
1. Arian Foster, Houston Texans
Foster got back on track with two touchdowns and 117 total yards on Thanksgiving. This week he gets the Tennessee Titans. They have allowed 129.8 rushing yards per game and 10 touchdowns.
2. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
Peterson continues to shine despite inadequate quarterback play. He had 138 total yards against the Chicago Bears. The Green Bay Packers have allowed 103.8 yards per game and nine rushing scores.
3. Trent Richardson, Cleveland Browns
T-Rich had 112 total yards and a touchdown against the stingy Pittsburgh Steelers. He should have a field day against the Oakland Raiders. They have allowed 131.2 yards per game and 15 rushing scores.
4. Doug Martin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Martin has a tough matchup against the Denver Broncos. Still, he is averaging 158.5 total yards with nine touchdowns in his past six games.
5. Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs
Charles is averaging 108.3 yards in his past three games against three tough defenses (Steelers, Cincinnati Bengals, Broncos). I like his chances against the mediocre Carolina Panthers.
6. C.J. Spiller, Buffalo Bills
Spiller had just 14 carries, but managed 107 yards against the Indianapolis Colts. He should be a monster against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags have allowed 136 yards per game and 14 rushing scores.
7. Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens
Rice is averaging 108.9 total yards. He had 93 total yards in the first meeting with Pittsburgh. This time he gets to play them at home, where he has scored six of his seven touchdowns.
8. Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans
CJ has averaged 137.2 total yards with four touchdowns in the past six games. He could have tough sledding against the Texans, although he did run for 141 yards in the first meeting.
9. Marshawn Lynch, Seattle Seahawks
Beast Mode was held in check by the Miami Dolphins. He had another tough matchup against the Chicago Bears. He’s a power runner like Peterson so I still expect a solid outing.
10. Alfred Morris, Washington Redskins
Morris continued his solid season with 113 yards and a touchdown on Thanksgiving. The New York Giants have allowed 114 yards per game, including 120 to Morris in the first meeting.
11. Ahmad Bradshaw, New York Giants
Bradshaw gets a boost with Andre Brown on the shelf with a broken leg. He should be active on the ground and in the passing game against the Redskins.
12. Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers
Gore continues to provide steady fantasy numbers. He’s averaging 97.4 total yards per game with six touchdowns. He takes on the St. Louis Rams. They have allowed 111.4 yards per game with 14 rushing scores.
13. Bryce Brown, Philadelphia Eagles
It looks like LeSean McCoy will miss this one so Brown is a borderline RB1 against Dallas. If you watched him on Monday Night Football, you know he has some upside.
14. Stevan Ridley, New England Patriots
Ridley has scored in the past four games while averaging 87.5 yards. The Dolphins are tough against the run, but it will be hard to key in against Ridley with Tom Brady at the helm.
15. BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Cincinnati Bengals
The Law Firm is averaging 89.3 total yards with three touchdowns in his past four games. He is unlikely to crack the 100-yard mark for the third straight week, but he should be solid against the San Diego Chargers.
16. Ryan Mathews, San Diego Chargers
Mathews continues to be held out of the end zone, but is averaging 90.3 total yards per game. The Bengals have allowed 116.1 yards per game and 10 rushing scores.
17. Beanie Wells, Arizona Cardinals
Beanie scored two touchdowns in his return. He gets a solid matchup in his second game back. The New York Jets have allowed 142.8 yards and 12 rushing scores.
18. Knowshon Moreno, Denver Broncos
Moreno was the surprising winner in the Willis McGahee injury sweepstakes, compiling 111 total yards. Tampa Bay has the league’s stingiest run defense, allowing just 81.5 yards per game. They have allowed nine rushing touchdowns, and Peyton Manning should open things up for Moreno.
19. Matt Forte, Chicago Bears
It looks like Forte will suit up against Seattle. They have a fierce defense and Michael Bush is a capable partner in crime, which could limit Forte’s touches. Not to mention he’ll get the work at the goal line.
20. Rashad Jennings, Jacksonville Jaguars
I don’t expect Maurice Jones-Drew to be ready to return. Jennings is back in the mix against Buffalo. The Bills have allowed 147.3 yards and a league-high 16 rushing scores.
21. Felix Jones, Dallas Cowboys
I am not expecting DeMarco Murray to play this week. Jones has scored a touchdown the past three weeks. If he gets the start, he should produce against the lifeless Eagles.
22. Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons
Turner was stuffed in the first meeting against the New Orleans Saints. This time he gets them at home. Turner has scored in three of his past four games. The Saints have allowed 156.5 yards and 10 rushing scores.
23. Reggie Bush, Miami Dolphins
Bush rebounded with 87 yards and a touchdown against the Seahawks. Daniel Thomas continues to play a prominent role, limiting Bush’s value against the Patriots.
24. Shonn Greene, New York Jets
Greene is averaging 93.7 total yards the past six games. The Arizona Cardinals have allowed 124.2 yards per game.
25. Jonathan Dwyer, Pittsburgh Steelers
Dwyer gets the latest crack at the starting gig in the revolving door that is the Steelers’ running back scene. He’s a solid option against a Baltimore team allowing 128.5 rushing yards per game.
26. Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams
S-Jax ripped the Niners for 127 total yards and a touchdown in the first meeting. I expect they will do a better job bottling him up in this one.
27. DeAngelo Williams, Carolina Panthers
It looks like Jonathan Stewart (ankle) will be out of action. D-Will should be a solid option against Kansas City. They Chiefs are yielding 126.1 rushing yards per game.
28. Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders
It appears that Run DMC will make his return. I would expect Marcel Reece to maintain plenty of involvement, particularly on passing downs. The Browns have allowed 118.4 yards and nine rushing scores. McFadden is a high risk play.
29. Mikel LeShoure, Detroit Lions
LeShoure has scored in back-to-back weeks and has five touchdowns in his past four games. The Colts have allowed 121.2 yards per game with 11 rushing scores. He is an injury concern. If he checks out, he could move up the ranks.
30. Darren Sproles, New Orleans Saints
I don’t expect Sproles to be active in the running game, but he should be busy catching the football. I get the feeling he’ll find a way to score in this one.
31. Vick Ballard, Indianapolis Colts
Ballard has a decent matchup against the Detroit, but he’s sharing the load with Donald Brown. The Lions are giving up 122.4 yards per game.
32. Michael Bush, Chicago Bears
It looks like Forte will play against Seattle, but I expect Bush to be involved. He has five touchdowns in the four games he has had at least 12 carries.

What’s up Les? I sat your mancrush last week thinking he was’nt 100%. Boy was i wrong, and it cost me a win. 8-4 tied for 1st heading into the last week.

Palmer also killed me. Ugh. Drop him in his matchup vs. CLEVE for Henne vs. Buffalo? I need Big Ben back healthy.

    My other positions…
    RB-Rice home v. PITT
    WR-Julio home v. NO
    TE-Graham @ ATL
    F-Charles home v. CAR
    F-Ridley @ MIAMI
    D/ST-Bears home v. SEA

Bench- Witten home v. PHIL, Colston @ ATL, Wallace @ BALT, Parmele @ BUFF

My only question mark, as i said was at QB, and maybe Ridley’s flex spot. Roll anyone on my bench for Ridley? Or leave it alone?

    Thanks bro, as always….

Pt.2…Should i hang on to MJD? Or drop him for Wells? If he does come back he should have decent value w/ Henne at QB.

I like Henne short term over Palmer. You have good options on the bench. Hard to split hairs between ridley, witten (in PPR), and colston.

Do you think MJD plays again this year? Keep him and cross my fingers, or snag Wells?

I see GJennings will play as well this week, i have him also. I’ll wait to see how things shake up first, before considering him.

  5. LestersLegends
    November 27th, 2012 at 6:36 am #

I would keep MJD. It’s not like you would use Wells if you had him.

Thanks. the four letter sports network has Wells above Ridley for projection this week, but its close.

I do like his matchup. I just can’t go all-in on him with the options you have.

I know u have felix jones higher than r. bush but would u bench him over r. Bush? My other rbs are lynch and mendy

  9. LestersLegends
    November 27th, 2012 at 10:00 am #

I’d only use Bush if Murray played. I wouldn’t argue against you for using bush, but if I have a guy ranked higher that means that is who I’d use personally.

    November 27th, 2012 at 12:30 pm #

i didnt listen to you last week; i benched felix and it cost me a game. same situation instead i used mendy which was stupid.
    so i learned my lesson.
    thanks man!

I’m playoff bound, PPR league. Should I drop J Stew for either Moreno or Ja’Quizz? Looking for overall value, not necessarily just Week 13.

  12. LestersLegends
    November 27th, 2012 at 12:59 pm #

Nico – I used Mendy over Felix in a last minute decision too. I share your frustration. Felix has been pretty solid fantasy wise since taking over the starting gig.
Dan – I would for Moreno, possibly Rodgers as well.

If McFadden & Godson do come back this week as planned, does it make sense to hang on to Reece? Or, would I be better off getting another RB like Moreno, Felix or even Dryer now that Mendy was bumped down to the #3 gig. Thanks Ryan!

  14. LestersLegends
    November 27th, 2012 at 3:37 pm #

I think it would make more sense to grab Moreno. Felix and Dwyer are debatable. Not sure how long they will hold on to lead gig.

  15. Dr Mel
    November 27th, 2012 at 4:49 pm #

That’s what I thought. I’m trying to flip Hillman for Moreno & Reece for Wells. Hopefully, that will get me through the play off runs. Not sure I want to gamble with Bush unless you disagree? Do you not like Brady this week @ Miami? I noticed you had him at 6th coming off his 2nd best game. Tannehill has only thrown 2 TD’s & 6 picks in last 3 games. I think you had the Pats D ranked around 7 on B/R. Am I missing something? Thanks as always Ryan!

    November 27th, 2012 at 5:51 pm #

I just think there are some good matchups this week at QB. He’s in the same tier as the other top five in my opinion.

Pats just aren’t a great defensive team. Bend but don’t break. I do have them at five though. Same tier as Jets and Ravens this week.

Which Bush? I like Michael as a short-term fix.

  17. Dr Mel
    November 27th, 2012 at 7:00 pm #

Sorry I meant Reggie. Michael has never been available in my league all season. My only other options at RB are Bryce Brown and Bilal Powell. Who is going to have the most opportunity going forward I need 2 RB’s Moreno I know, then is it Wells, Brown, Powell? Or should I look at Daryl Richardson? Guessing here, hard to figure from week to week. Thanks!

  18. KM
    November 27th, 2012 at 7:38 pm #

Bryce Brown or Beanie Wells? I know Bryce looked good on Monday night, but Beanie is going up against the Jets which are ranked 30th in rushing defense.

  19. LestersLegends
    November 27th, 2012 at 8:17 pm #

Dr Mel – It is hard week to week. Immediately it looks like Brown. Long term Moreno and Wells
KM – I like Bryce if McCoy is out again.

    What’s up Les,

Think I’m gonna shelve Ridley this week and play Colston. Colston has been quite for so long i just think he’s due and that the game could be a shootout. Have a feeling Brady throws all day, Vereen vultures, Woodhead vultures, Ridley never is in on passing downs, blah blah blah. Do you think Ridley is a safer play than Colston? I know he’ll touch the ball more but there’s alot of mouths to feed on that team when it’s first and goal. I might be able to snag Moreno or Brown on WW. You like either of those guys over Ridley or Colston? I need to win this week.

Play Big Ben this week if he’s a go? I hear it’s 50-50, or roll Henne or Palmer?

  21. LestersLegends
    November 28th, 2012 at 8:39 am #

If McCoy is out and Brown gets the nod again he’d be tempting. Given the way the Eagles have sunk though, he would be riskier that Colston. Agree it will be a shootout with Atlanta.

  22. Somewhere over Dwayne Bowe
    November 28th, 2012 at 8:47 am #

Hard to pull Ridley tho. He has been consistant while Colston has been feast or famine. In PPR, there is less than one point seperating their year point total. I take it if i could get Brown you like him better than Ridley and Colston. Yes?

  23. Swade
    November 28th, 2012 at 9:44 am #

    Hey Les,

RB Question. Starting TRich and Morris as RB1 and RB2, and have Sproles as my W/R Flex. Thinking about S. Jax for the flex too but dont think he will shred SF again. Your thoughts?

  24. LestersLegends
    November 28th, 2012 at 9:53 am #

Somewhere – A little bit, but he’s the riskiest of the three imo. He was a beast on MNF, but Carolina isn’t great. That team is in major turmoil.
Awade – Toss up. Sproles in PPR. SJax in standard leagues.

@fleaflicker suggested I play the Pats D over Dallas D. Do you agree with them? I’m up against the 49er’s D & its so tough to predict, lately I’ve been right on the money. Also, I face Run DMC (not too worried, should be limited), Megatron, Colston, & Hicks. Not worried about Brady facing Rivers. Am I solid? As always, I welcome your comments. Thanks again, Ryan!

I should have posted on WR page, that’s where my line up is.
Cruz, Julio, Shorts, Wells & Morris against above. Not worried about QB, TE, or K. His other was MJD, which I can’t figure? Moreno, Mendy, Amendola, DX, Witten & Luck on bench. I need to seal a big lead for my play off run. Thanks!

Thanks Ryan! The machine has me up 56 points but we all know how that goes! Mainly concerned about Hicks taking targets away from Cruz. Never sure what to expect from Megatron, Colston and the Forty Niners D they are always threats. I didn’t get your defensive ranking this week which puzzles me so I have to go by what I read off of Bleacher Report. My league stockpiles defense is like crazy, so it’s the one thing I try to get done early & right. Thanks for all your help and good luck this weekend!

Game Day Les. Love to see your mancrush and Graham have solid games tonight. Was thinking about putting all my eggs in one basket and throwing Colston out as well. My buddy said play Ridley. I’m wavering. You got a hunch either way? Ridley or Colston? I swear i won’t bug you til Tuesday morning lol. Thanks bro…

PS Dumped Palmer for Henne. Hope Chad’s luck continues!

Haha. I can’t recall if you’re PPR or not. I think that makes a difference. PPR I go Colston.

I added Henne for Bradford as my QB2.

  40. Somewhere over Dwayne Bowe
    November 29th, 2012 at 4:37 pm #

It’s PPR. My problem is Colston has been kindy shitty his past 5 weeks. I know he gets in the endzone, but the catches and yardage have been meager. 10-12pts in a PPR is crappy, and that’s been his average the past 5 weeks. I want 20 lol. if i knew he was gonna do that again i would sit’em. problem is he could easily have a couple TD’s on that team.

  41. Somewhere over Dwayne Bowe
    November 29th, 2012 at 4:54 pm #

This is what it says regarding Colston this week on espn’s site…

‘Colston has failed to gain 30 yards in three of his past five meetings with Atlanta, but that was when the Falcons’ secondary was fully stocked. Now with CBs Asante Samuel (shoulder) and Dunta Robinson (head) both questionable, and top CB Brent Grimes on IR all year, Colston should have an easier time getting open. He has enjoyed success in the Georgia Dome, with 420 receiving yards and three TDs in five career games there. ‘

At the moment I have Marcel Reece and Knowshon Moreno as my starters, and Beanie Wells, Felix Jones on the bench. I like the match up for wells this week but he has been limited all week in practice. Any thoughts.
