2012 Fantasy Football RB Rankings – Week 14

Dec 3, 2012

.
With an exciting 13th week under our belts, here are the LestersLegends 2012 Week 14 fantasy football running back rankings.
.
1. Arian Foster, Houston Texans
Foster had a modest day (53 total yards) against the Tennessee Titans, but he scored yet again. Foster has 15 touchdowns through 12 games. The New England Patriots are solid against the run, but Foster so consistent.
.
2. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
Peterson is averaging 181.8 total yards in his past four games. The Chicago Bears “held” him to 138 yards in Week 12. He’s not human.
.
3. Trent Richardson, Cleveland Browns
T-Rich is averaging 124.2 total yards with three touchdowns in his past five games. The Kansas City Chiefs have allowed 129.3 at 4.7 yards per carry.
.
4. Marshawn Lynch, Seattle Seahawks
Lynch is averaging 110.4 total yards with four touchdowns in his past five games. The Arizona Cardinals have allowed 128.6 yards per game.
.
5. Doug Martin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Martin is averaging 123.4 total yards with 10 touchdowns in 12 games. He’s a ball of awesomeness. This week he faces the lifeless Philadelphia Eagles.
.
6. Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens
Rice was held to 83 total yards by the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he managed to score a touchdown. He should have continued success against the Washington Redskins.
.
7. Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs
Charles is averaging 115.8 total yards in his past four games. The Browns are giving up 115.6 rushing yards per game.
.
8. Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans
Johnson has averaged 120 total yards in his past nine games. He had 117 total yards in his first meeting with the Indianapolis Colts. Indy has allowed 122.6 yards per game and 12 rushing scores.
.
9. C.J. Spiller, Buffalo Bills
Spiller continues to do serious damage with just about 15 touches per game. He’s averaging 112.1 total yards in his past four games. This week he faces the Rams. They have allowed 114.4 yards per game and 15 rushing scores.
.
10. Bryce Brown, Philadelphia Eagles
If LeSean McCoy can go this week, it will shakes things up. Brown is averaging 186 total yards and a pair of touchdowns in tow starts. This week will be tougher against Tampa’s league-best run defense (82.3 yards per game).
.
11. Ahmad Bradshaw, New York Giants
Bradshaw is a solid option against the league’s worst run defense. The New Orleans Saints have allowed 153.8 yards per game and 11 rushing scores.
.
12. Stevan Ridley, New England Patriots
Ridley has a tough matchup against Houston, but Tom Brady and company will keep them honest. Ridley is averaging 84.2 yards and a touchdown in his past five games.
.
13. Knowshon Moreno, Denver Broncos
Moreno had a more modest game (83 total yards) against the Bucs, which was expected as they have the league’s top run defense. This week he gets the Oakland Raiders. They have allowed 130.4 yards per game and 16 rushing scores.
.
14. Matt Forte, Chicago Bears
Forte had 96 total yards and a touchdown on a ankle that wasn’t 100 percent. The Vikings have allowed 115.1 yards per game and 10 rushing scores.
.
15. Alfred Morris, Washington Redskins
Morris has been a steady option all year. He faces the Ravens, who have allowed 125.8 yards per game and 11 rushing scores.
.
16. BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Cincinnati Bengals
The Law Firm has strung together three straight 100-yard games. The Dallas Cowboys have allowed 116.5 yards per game and 11 rushing scores.
.
17. Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers
Gore is averaging 88 total yards and 0.5 touchdowns in his past four games. The Miami Dolphins are stout against the run, but Gore averages 107 total yards per game at home.
.
18. Mikel LeShoure, Detroit Lions
LeShoure has scored in three straight games. The Green Bay Packers have allowed 115.2 yards per game and 10 rushing scores.
.
19. Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams
Jackson has averaged 117.3 total yards in his past four games. He’s a solid RB2 option against the Bills. They have allowed 139.2 yards per game and a league-high 17 rushing scores.
.
20. DeMarco Murray, Dallas Cowboys
Murray came back with a bang, record 102 total yards and a touchdown against the Eagles. Expect the Bengals to put up more of a fight.
.
21. Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons
Turner has now scored in three straight games. With seven touchdowns on the year, it’s possible that he could record his fifth straight double-digit touchdown season. He’s facing the Carolina Panthers, who have allowed 128.8 yards per game and 10 rushing scores. Turner had 178 total yards and a touchdown against them in Week 4.
.
22. Shonn Greene, New York Jets
Greene has not scored in five weeks, but he has averaged 83.4 total yards during that span. He takes on the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have allowed 144.0 yards per game and 16 rushing scores.
.
23. Vick Ballard, Indianapolis Colts
Ballard gets the benefit of playing without Donald Brown. Locking horns with the Titans, who rank 27th in run defense (129.4) also helps. Tennessee has allowed 11 rushing scores.
.
24. Jonathan Dwyer, Pittsburgh Steelers
Dwyer struggled against the Ravens with 49 yards on 16 carries (3.1 yards per carry), but he was able to get in the end zone. The San Diego Chargers present a tough matchup, especially if Ben Roethlisberger can’t go again.
.
25.Ryan Mathews, San Diego Chargers
Mathews has yet to be spectacular this year. He has been pretty steady though. The Steelers present a tough test.
.
26. DeAngelo Williams, Carolina Panthers
D-Will will likely carry the full load once again. Atlanta has allowed 121.3 yards per game and 13 rushing scores.

What’s up Les? Finished tied for 1st w/ 2 other teams but 3rd in points, meaning i missed getting a bye in the first round. Playoff time is here…

QB- Big Ben home v. SD
    RB- Rice @ WASH
    WR- Julio @ CAR
    TE- Graham @ NYG
    Flex- Charles @ CLEVE
    Flex- Colston @ NYG
    D/ST- Bears @ MINN

Bench- Palmer home v. DEN, Ridley home v. HOU, Wallace home v. SD, MJD (likely out), GJennings home v. DET, Witten @ CINCY, Texans D @ NE.

The team i’m playing i beat by like 30 during the season. They have Brees going whom i handcuffed w/ Colston and Graham last time and it worked out. Don’t see Ridley doing much v Houston run D, they have’nt allowed dick to a RB like all year. Thinking Brady throws alot in this game. If Ben can’t go, i gotta roll Carson Thursday night. He does put up a ton of points AT HOME.

Think my lineup is ok? Would you sub in anyone else at the flex. It’s a PPR btw.

    Thanks as usual….

I think you have it figured out. QB situation is tough. You probably can’t wait on Big Ben is my guess. Gonna have to hope on Palmer. The good news is the Broncos should score big which will make Palmer pass.

  3. Somewhere over Dwayne Bowe
    December 4th, 2012 at 8:52 am #

Yeah, or i drop Palmer. There are a few options on our WW.

    Flacco @ WASH
    RWilson home v. ARIZ
    Fitz home v. STL
    Weeden home v. KC
    Henne home v. NYJ
    Cutler @ MINN
Tebow (too bad i dont think he’s gonna start or i would probably take a chance on him)

Waive Palmer for any of these guys?

Hey Les, My opponent this week is sitting Brees and playing Eli. I guess they dont want me collaring Brees w/ Graham and Colston….or so it seems….Odds they are just playing around and will put Brees in at the last minute? I would never sit Brees despite his crappy games the past 2 weeks. They just playing around?

  7. LestersLegends

Could be frustrated. Hopefully they keep it that way and Brees goes off….to your guys.

    Hey Lester,

I have a RB delimma. In a PPR, I have TRich vs KC and Morris vs Bal as my RB1 and RB2. For my W/R Flex I have Forte @ Min at the moment, but I am enticed by SJax against Buffalo. Forte has been solid most of the year but had a tough time with Minn earlier this year before he tweaked his ankle. I keep doubting SJax and he keeps putting on lately, need this W bad this week.

    Arian Foster

I’ve seen your column and you give good advice! I would like to ask..

QB: I have RGIII and Chad Henne. I am starting RG III.
RB: Sproles, Murray, Forte, hopefully tomorrow I’ll have Dwyer
WR: Marshall, Decker, TY Hilton, Blackmon
    TE: Gresham and Daniels
    DEF: Texans or Steelers
    K: Gostkowski or Graham

    Many thanks for any advice.

    Les,

You like Flacco? lol NO ONE like Flacco. You mean you would play him over Ben if he starts, or Palmer? That’s a huge dice roll seeing as how awful Flacco is on the road, and how utterly inconsistant he’s been all year.

  22. rozay

Hey man I don’t trust beanie wells against seattle. Do you think james starks makes for a good start in his place this week?

  23. LestersLegends
    December 5th, 2012 at 8:04 am #

Somewhere – I do given his matchup, but it’s is a risky play. he’s either 200 yards or 350 yards. Looks like Ben will play.
Rozay – Starks may be done for the year with a knee injury.

  24. rozay

  25. JP
    December 5th, 2012 at 8:36 am #

    Hey Lester,
PPR league, pick one….Alex Green, Reggie Bush, or Beanie Wells?
Don’t like Reggie against SF and his splits with Thomas, Beanie probably wont do much against Seahawaks D, just heard Starks might be done for season or at least this week. Leaning towards Green against Lions….What u think?? Thanks!!

  26. JJ

    Dez Bryant or Bryce Brown???

  27. Dan
    December 5th, 2012 at 9:36 am #

Out of these 5 who would you start (2rbs, 1 flex)

Knowshon Moreno, Bryce Brown, Stevan Ridley, Steve Smith, Anquan Boldin.

I currently have all three rb’s in. But I’m not sure about Ridley. He’s had a great season and he’s my best player after Tom Brady, but I just get a feeling that he won’t produce much against the Texans and the Pats will thus choose to attack them through the air. Thank you for your help.

  28. LestersLegends
    December 5th, 2012 at 9:44 am #

rozay – i think green would be teh option
JP – That is a toss up. I think Reggie may be the option. I could see a heavy dose of Rodgers for GB.
    JJ – Dez
Dan – I’d go with the RBs.

He hasn’t passed phase three of his test as of this morning, so he’s out I would assume. The way Brown is playing I think Reid will probably stick with him like Foles. I had him in but took bin out after seeing an article on a bad match up. I think its going to be close between Hilton & Brown. Tell me after I tell you who I’m up against:
    QB-Flacco
    RB- SJax, Ingram
    WR-Roddy, Austin, Decker
    TE-Graham

Do you think I’m competitive enough, last week was way too close! Hanson

I know everyone assumes he is a must start, but between him & the Pat’s D last week it was almost my game if Morris & Cruz didn’t save me. Well SD is what? 7-8th v. the run? Pitt has to win at 7-5, and i would think they have to throw. No?

  62. LestersLegends
    December 7th, 2012 at 6:39 am #

Makes sense. They also don’t want to expose Ben. It’s a calculated risk going with Ben since Flacco has had so many duds

  63. Somewhere over Dwayne Bowe
    December 7th, 2012 at 7:06 am #

I know. It’s tougher for me to start Flacco for whatever reason. Maybe it has to do w/ Ben being my starter and a reason i’m in the playoffs. I was 2-2 when he was out to fall to 8-5 on the year and miss one of the 2 top seed byes this week by 11 team points. If he was healthy. I easily get there imo. I feel like if he does’nt play well, at least i put out my ‘stud’ and go down with my guy. I think Pitt has to win, has to throw, albeit probably dinking and dunking and quick release pass plays to keep Ben upright. He does have the receivers to take a little screen or quick slant all the way to the house…..It’s tough. Still leaning Ben. I do think Pitt will try and run it, i just dont see them having a ton of success vs. SD’s run D. I maybe wrong.

So many different rankings plus everyone’s take on the game, my head is about to burst! PLEASE tell me if I’m making the right call. My playoff future is riding on this! Still play Luck? Yeah Les, good analogy. BTW loved seeing Marcel Reece put up 2.9pts ppr last night against me lol. Makes my QB decision a little less terrifying.

    Chris :
    Qb- Stafford
    Rbs- Lynch, Turner
    Wrs- Cruz, Brown
    Tes- Daniels
    Flex- Hernandez
    D- Seattle

Mel – I like both options. I don’t think Luck vs. Brady is much of an issue. I like Luck better, but they both should succeed. Nice start.
Brandon – Morris is the odd man out for me.
    Somewhere – Sweet.

Thanks, you think starting both tight ends is gonna pay off?

I like them better than your WR options.

I was thinking tate just because it seems like he is russel wilsons favorite target

He’s an option, but he’s a little scary for me to rely on. He has been rock solid the past five games.

brown has been a dud all year

I have a WR and flex spot that I’m not sure what to do with

Complete with: Steve Smith (Carolina), Josh Gordon, Sidney Rice, Montell Owens (RB), and Alex Green (RB).

Leaning towards Smith and Gordon. Help!

Great site Les! Like your advice!
Got 3 leagues; #1 and two #3s on the verge of being eliminated.
    All non-ppr.
    Similar situations on all three;
Team CC- Flacco, Newton, or Dalton? Pick 1
Colston, Roddy, Torrey, Hilton? – Bench 1
    Gonzo or Bennett?
    Clev.(KC) or Cinci(DAL)?
    Team JP- Freeman or Brees?
Marshall, Austin, Torrey, Hilton? – Bench 1
Brown or Forte? I also have Matthews, but he and Brees took me from first to third last week. Figured he may have one good in him, but that guy is done.

#1 Team CFRS – Dalton or Brees?
Roddy, Austin, Cobb, Gacron? – Bench 1
    Brown or CJ2K? – I also have R. Bush, that I simply won’t chance.
    Gresham or Bennett?
    Sea.(AZ) or SF(Mia.)?
I’m just a first timer here, but I figured why ask for just some advice when I could get it all…

I would appreciate some advice on who to start.
    QB- Freeman or Kaepernick
WR2 – Lance Moore or Josh Gordon
RB2/Flex- Montelle Owens, Darren Sproles, Vick Ballard, Moore, or Gordon
TE- Dallas Clark, Benjamin Watson, or Tony Moeaki (all three risky but very few options in an 18 person league and Gronk being out..)

Steven – I’d go Smith for sure. The rest are pretty close so playing your gut isn’t a bad option.
Chris – Newton, Hilton (very close with Torrey), Gonzo, CLE, Brees, Same as other league. you could split the difference and go one in each league, brown, Brees, Garcon, CJ, Gresham, SEA
Ryan – Freeman, Moore, Ballard, Clark

team CC- bench Hiltron instead of White? I was thinkin that Smith Smokes this week, while Roddy gets the “whiteout.” And therefore, Hiltron! Right on with the Goz and Clev!
team JP- Brees? He’s the one that put me in this position. Daltron has been very trustworthy all season long, even if not galactic numbers.
CJ2K over Brown in 3rd leag.? seems like Reid finally got the message, “it’s the ground game stupid!”

Les, my team went off yesterday and i won by 50pts. Big Ben was a good call on my part, Colston not so much lol. But i’ll take the win, and We’ll talk Tuesday morning bro. Thanks as always.

Nice job. I was cruising until Seattle Defense went wild. I need Owen Daniels to have no more than 72 yards and a score tonight to advance. Arg.
