2012 Fantasy Football RB Rankings – Week 2

Sep 11, 2012

With an exciting first week under our belts, here are the LestersLegends 2012 Week 2 fantasy football running back rankings.
1. Arian Foster, Houston Texans
Gave owners a little scare before giving owners their typical two touchdown game. Should have no problems against Jacksonville.
2. Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens
Has a tough match-up against Philly, but the versatile back should still get his.
3. LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia Eagles
Shady is in the same boat as Rice in their head-t0-head match-up.
4. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
Forget Shaq or Dwight Howard, All Day is Superman. Showed no effects of his knee injury. He should slay the Colts.
5. Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders
Caught a ridiculous 13 passes in the opener. Only gained 32 yards on the ground, but his 118 total yards were solid. He should destroy Miami.
6. C.J. Spiller, Buffalo Bills
With Fred Jackson out, Spiller should continue to shine as he torches the Chiefs. He has scored five TDs in his past four games dating back to last year.
7. Alfred Morris, Washington Redskins
Am I jumping the gun on Morris? Possibly, but he had a big game last week and gets to follow it up against the Rams.
8. Matt Forte, Chicago Bears
Michael Bush is going to steal his short touchdowns. It’s that simple. He should still put up a big game against the Packers.
9. DeMarco Murray, Dallas Cowboys
Put on a show in the opener with 140 total yards. Has a tougher draw against Seattle, but remains a solid RB1.
10. BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Cincinnati Bengals
Had 95 total yards and a score in the opener and gets a nice match-up with Cleveland making him a viable RB1 option.
11. Ahmad Bradshaw, New York Giants
So much for David Wilson taking his job. Bradshaw had 93 total yards and a score with a juicy match-up against Tampa Bay.
12. Stevan Ridley, RB, New England Patriots
With 152 total yards and a score he quickly staked his claim as the best value back. Should continue to excel against Arizona.
13. Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs
He didn’t return quite as triumphantly as AP, but 87 yards at 5.4 ypc is solid. Should excel against Buffalo.
14. Doug Martin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Was very active against the Panthers and if the way the Giants looked against Murray is any indication, he should do well again.
15. Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars
Mojo will get back to where he was (or close), but it won’t start this week against Houston.
16. Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers
There is still life in his legs. He got loose against the Packers for 112 yards and a TD. Should do well against Detroit.
17. Marshawn Lynch, Seattle Seahawks
Scared owners with is back, but still managed 97 total yards. Takes on Dallas.
18.  Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans
Nasty first game and not in a good way, thought he Titans should fare better against San Diego.
19. Reggie Bush, Miami Dolphins
Dolphins are a mess, but Bush had 115 total yards and was very active in the passing game. Faces Oakland.
20. Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams
Turned in a decent 84 yard performance. Doesn’t have much competition for touches. Faces Washington.
21. Ryan Mathews, San Diego Chargers
I am a little cautious with Mathews, but the potential for a big game is there against Tennessee, who was destroyed by Ridley last week.
22. Trent Richardson, Cleveland Browns
Cincinnati will be tough, but Richardson will get a heavy workload and the chance to do some damage.
23. Darren Sproles, New Orleans Saints
Had 35 yards, a score, and a two-point conversion. Brees will continue to look to him.
24. Kevin Smith, Detroit Lions
The Niners are ridiculously tough, but Smith is a dual threat that should put up a safe RB2 score.
25. Willis McGahee, Denver Broncos
Had a respectable 64 yards against Pittsburgh. Should be easier to get going against Atlanta.
26. Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons
He is definitely further down on the food chain this year. I’ll give him a pass on his 32 yards in Week 1. If he has another disaster, his RB2 status will be in question.
27. Jonathan Stewart, Carolina Panthers
DeAngelo Williams couldn’t have been more underwhelming. J-Stew should get a chance against the Saints.
28. Cedric Benson, Green Bay Packers
Not exactly what we expected after glowing reports out of Packers’ camp, but they did take on the Niners. Things should improve against Chicago.
29. Shonn Greene, New York Jets
He’s a dog, but he had a nice showing against the Bills (94 yards, TD). Pittsburgh will present a bigger challenge.
30. Donald Brown, Indianapolis Colts
Had 48 yards and a score against the Bears. He will need more touches, but he should do well against the Purple.

Hey RL, any issues with sitting Torrey Smith vs Philly and rolling with…

    RB CJ
    RB D Murray
    WR Harvin
    WR Demaryius Thomas
    FLEX Spiller

    Thanks as always.

What are you thoughts about jonathan dwyer in the flex spot this week? He’s only projected at 5 points but he looks like he’ll be getting the bulk of the carries against a defense that got torched by spiller in week 1.

  13. LestersLegends
    September 12th, 2012 at 10:15 am #

Depends on what your other options are. I think he could do better than 5.

    September 12th, 2012 at 10:24 am #

Being a running back i figured dwyer was my best flex option. I’m not comfortable putting a receiver at flex this week after getting burned last week.

    September 12th, 2012 at 10:26 am #

depends on who the WR is. it is a passing league now

    September 12th, 2012 at 10:42 am #

That’s true. Well lafell and alshon are available in my league, blackmon burned me last week. Which is why I was leaning towards dwyer.

  17. LestersLegends
    September 12th, 2012 at 10:51 am #

really a toss up. I like LaFell, but Dwyer isn’t a bad option either.

Would you trade Wes Welker and Donald Brown for Dez Bryant and Ryan Mathews? Also he has stafford, witten and aaron hernandez should I try to add to the trade and get one of them to improve those positions?
    8-team league
    rb-Mccoy, Peterson,Bradshaw, Alfred Morris, Brown

Right, but he catches the ball out of the backfield. Unless Bush gets in the end zone, you’re stuck with a low score.

10 team PPR League. Is it possible to feel desperate in Week 2? I lost my flex last week in Fred Jackson. Unfortunately, my options for a flex this week are as follows:

    Torrey Smith
    Kevin Smith
    Peyton Hillis
    Titus Young
    Alshon J.
    B. Lafell

Or pretty much anyone else off the heap…

I would probably go with T. SMith.

I have Shonn Greene, M. Turner, & Micheal Bush. What two should I Start? Will Turner rebound and be atleast tradeable?

  31. LestersLegends
    September 13th, 2012 at 12:39 pm #

I would go with Green and Turner. I think Turner could have some solid games. The Falcons will want a balance.

  32. Cole
    September 13th, 2012 at 1:43 pm #

    Richardson or Lynch

Also what do you think about James Jones for the bears game since gregg jennings is out.

  33. LestersLegends

I like Lynch. I think Jones could have a solid game tonight if Jennings can’t go.

Shocked I am even asking this but do I throw Chris Johnson on the pine in favor of Kevin Smith? Last game was horrific for CJ2K

  35. LestersLegends

I wouldn’t against the Niners even though CJ0.8K is off to a horrible start.

    September 14th, 2012 at 12:55 pm #

I kinda like rolling with Welker. That way you’re covered.

Desean Jackson, Kevin Ogletree or Michael Crabtree as my WR3 this week? I don’t like the hamstring and bad matchup with Baltimore for Jackson, but Seattle and Detroit are also tough defenses. Crabtree is the go-to guy for SF but Ogletree can run free all day as defenses focus their attention on Miles Austin, Dez Bryant, Demarco Murray, and Romo is a good QB who will get the ball to whoever is open…

Im real torn between B Green-Ellis, and A Bradshaw. I feel that they’re both safe bets, but that Green-Ellis has more upside. then again can tampa bay really stop the run again, and is cleveland really not gonna stop the run.

Also M. Floyd, or H. Nicks

    Thanks for the help

  49. LestersLegends
    September 16th, 2012 at 8:15 am #

I have them ten and eleven so I don’t offer much clarity. I give BJGE the edge because he’s more likely to get in the end zone. I’d go with Nicks if he can go, but Floyd is definitely the safer bet.

  50. Matt
    September 16th, 2012 at 8:47 am #

Thanks exactly my thoughts. Good just for some reassurance. I might go with Bjge, and i’ll stick with nicks if he plays. he usually doesn’t flop 2 games in a row.

Thanks for the help as always
