2012 Fantasy Football RB Rankings – Week 4

Sep 24, 2012

.
With an exciting third week under our belts, here are the LestersLegends 2012 Week 4 fantasy football running back rankings.
.
1. Arian Foster, Houston Texans
He didn’t run one in, but had 108 total yards and a receiving score. Dating back to last year he has scored in five straight games and eleven of his past twelve. Faces Tennessee, who has yielded 150.3 ypg on the ground.
.
2. Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens
He is averaging 131.6 total yards and a score each game. Cleveland has allowed 122.7 ypg on the ground. The last time he faced them Rice had a touchdown and 135 total yards.
.
3. Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars
The rust is off following his 177-yard explosion against the Colts. Next up is Cincinnati, who has allowed 155.0 rushing ypg and five scores.
.
4. LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia Eagles
McCoy has to be more involved in the game plan. If not to save Vick, but also cut down on the turnovers.
.
5. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
He ran well against San Francisco (86 yards). He has eight TDs in nine career games against the Lions.
.
6. Marshawn Lynch, Seattle Seahawks
The Rams are improved against the run, but they are still allowing 120.7 ypg and five scores. They will struggle to stop Beast Mode.
.
7.  Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs
Answered any questions about his knee with 288 total yards against the Saints. The Chargers will present a stiffer test, but he’s an explosive player.
.
8. Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders
Run DMC answered doubters by dropping 113 yards and a touchdown on Pittsburgh. He dropped 150 on the Broncos in their last meeting.
.
9. Alfred Morris, Washington Redskins
Morris is averaging 87.7 yards per game. Tampa has been solid against the run thus far, but the way RG3 is moving the offense, Morris should turn in a nice effort.
.
10. Willis McGahee, Denver Broncos
McGahee ran for 163 yards and two scores in his last meeting with Oakland. I’m expecting a big game against a team that has allowed four rushing TDs and 116.3 ypg.
.
11.  Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers
The Niners will look to rebound against the Jets, who are yielding 148.7 ypg on the ground.
.
12. BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Cincinnati Bengals
The Firm scored a TD last week to salvage his week and quiet produce for a third straight week. He gets Jacksonville, who has allowed 154.3 rushing ypg and five scores.
.
13. Trent Richardson, Cleveland Browns
Richardson came back to Earth with 51 total yards against the Bills, but managed to score. Baltimore has allowed four rushing touchdowns and 111.7 ypg.
.
14. Cedric Benson, Green Bay Packers
Benson gets to feast on the Saints run defense that ranks dead last with 215.0 ypg and six rushing TDs allowed.
.
15. Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons
He isn’t sexy, but he has scored in consecutive weeks. Carolina has allowed four rushing TDs and 139.3 ypg. Turner has eleven TDs in eight career meetings.
.
16. Ryan Mathews, San Diego Chargers
He survived his first game. Things should start to get easier beginning this week against Kansas City, who is allowing 122.7 ypg.
.
17. Mikel LeShoure, Detroit Lions
Emerged as a beast debuting with 134 total yards and a score. Takes on the Vikings.
.
18. Doug Martin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Locks horns with the Redskins. Averaging 86.0 total yards per game.
.
19. Stevan Ridley, RB, New England Patriots
Has been slowed by two good defense (Arizona, Baltimore), but should be back on his game against the Bills.
.
20. DeMarco Murray, Dallas Cowboys
The Bears will be a tough test. Murray can move the ball and has little competition. He’s just been quote since his strong opener.
.
21. Darren Sproles, New Orleans Saints
He’ll be an active part of the Saints gameplan against the Packers. Surprisingly didn’t catch any passes last week, but that will be rectified.
.D
22. Michael Bush, Chicago Bears
Matt Forte could practice this week, but I don’t see him suiting up against the Cowboys.
.
23. Andre Brown, New York Giants
The Eagles will put up a better fight than Carolina did, but Brown sure looked decisive.
.
24. Tashard Choice, Buffalo Bills
Fred Jackson could practice this week, but I think it’s Choice’s turn to carry the load against New England.
.
25. Daniel Thomas, Miami Dolphins
Reggie Bush avoided serious injury, but he’ll likely be out against a tough Arizona defense.
.
26. Jonathan Stewart, Carolina Panthers
After missing last week and having the long layoff J-Stew should be ready against Atlanta, who is yielding 128.7 ypg.
.
27. Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams
S-Jax is as tough as they come. That won’t help him dig out of the funk as the Rams face Seattle.
.
28. Ryan Williams, Arizona Cardinals
Williams ran well last week, but could struggle against a Miami team allowing just 64.7 ypg.
.
29.  Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans
Perhaps one of these weeks he’ll wake up and show a pulse. I doubt that happens against Houston though.
.
30. Ben Tate, Houston Texans
Tennessee is a mess. This feels like a week where both Houston RBs can get loose.

Hey lester, I was thinking about picking up mikel leshoure on waivers, but just not sure who I should drop. I have
RB: D Murray, Richardson, McGahee, Morris
WR: Bowe, Cruz, Austin, Ant Brown & Johnson
Would you stick with the players I have or drop one of them? So far ant brown has been a let down & a skins Rb can never be trusted with shanahan.

Your team is pretty stacked. i’d probably stick with what you have. i hear you about brown, but you’d have wr depth issues and it’s true about shanahan, but morris isn’t giving him any reason to oust him. the recent backs have had fumbling or injury issues. if morris can avoid that perhaps he will be more like what shanahan had back in denver

Thanks lester i’ll take your advice & stick with what I have. Plus detroit lions RB’s drop like flies so he’ll probably be out for the season by week 6!

Hey Lester, I have Spiller, Jamaal Charles, Chris Johnson, Morris, and Ryan Williams as my rb’s. I can play 3 of them. I was thinking Charles & Morris for sure, but not sure who else? Spiller looks to be out, Johnson has been atrocious, not sure if McGahee will play and it looks like Beanie Wells may be out to open things up for Williams!!

Oh sorry, I have McGahee too!!

  7. LestersLegends
    September 25th, 2012 at 9:50 am #

Charles and Morris like you said. Then I’d go McGahee unless he can’t go. in which case I’d plug in CJ or Ryan Williams depending on beanie’s status.

Lester – What do you think the future of Spiller will be this season? I might have missed trade boat on him with the injury, but it looks like he will only be out this week and the injury is not as bad as first thought. Do you think it’s worth trying to package him in a deal for someone, or worth hanging onto? Thanks.

  9. LestersLegends
    September 25th, 2012 at 12:32 pm #

I’d hold onto him. He avoided a serious injury and should come back strong.

Do you think owners should sell high on Charles now? I really don’t think he will keep up consistent production. I’m thinking I could trade Holmes and Charles for maybe Steve Smith and Foster…

Sorry for the double post but this is my roster.

    QB: Dalton, Big Ben
RB: D. Murray, Charles, M. Bush, D. Williams, A. Bradshaw
    WR: S. Holmes, T. Smith, M. Colston, B. Gibson
TE: Chandler (though soon to be K. Rudolph
D/ST: Seahawks (might pick up Arizona)

Note: Just got my first win this week. Thanks for the help!

No wories about double post. If you can make that deal, I would totally do it. Like your squad. If you can land smith and foster, look out.

Hey man, I got a lot of questions about who to start and where. I’m starting LeSean and MJD at RB, but what about my two WRs or Flex? I have Larry Fitzgerald, Victor Cruz, Miles Austin, Ryan Mathews, Willis McGahee, Michael Bush, Santonio Holmes and Danny Amendola. I’m in an ESPN standard league. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. Another quick question: I’ve just had an offer accepted: CJ2K for Michael Bush. Good trade, or did I just give away Bush for free?

  16. LestersLegends
    September 26th, 2012 at 9:00 am #

That’s a tough one. Forte should be back soon. CJ has just been so bad. It’s a nice gamble.

    September 26th, 2012 at 9:10 am #

Hey, I need a little help.

    QB: Brady, Schaub

RB Ridley, Deangelo Williams, CJ Spiller

WR Welker, AJ Green, Antonio Brown, Brandon LaFell, Jeremy Kerley

    TE Gronkowski, Hernandez, Heath Miller

    D/ST Ravens, Bears

    K Gostkowski

With Hernandez, Miller, and Brown all out for this week’s games, I was thinking of starting Brady, Ridley, Williams, Welker, Green, Gronkowski, Kerley as my flex, Ravens, and Gostkowski.

Any suggestions? Should I try to trade for a running back? The best one available in FA is Jackie Battle.

    Thanks

Do you really think Morris will do better than Richardson since the Bucs have the number 1 rated rush defense as of now and baltimore’s is rated 18th?

  19. LestersLegends
    September 26th, 2012 at 12:10 pm #

Godnollid – I would go Lafell over Kerly, but that’s a toss up. I’d put a feeler out for a RB, but your best trading chip is hernandez.
Cole – I think baltimore scores a ton making the running game go to the wayside

Do you think McGahee or Spiller is worth the play if they do dress even with the risk of getting further injured or limited carries? How valuable do you think Ryan Williams is with him being pronounced the starter now?

  21. Clueless
    September 27th, 2012 at 9:09 am #

    12 Team PPR
    Start 1 QB, 2 WR, 2 RB, 1TE, 1 Flex wb/rb/te

I was offered Miles Austin for M Bush and W McGahee – not sure if I should make this trade or counter with Bush and A Brown for Austin – or would I be giving too much?

    My Team:
RB-Lynch, LeShoure, Benson, A Brown, M Bush, McGahee
WR-P Harvin, B Marshall and Antonio Brown
    TE – Graham and Pitta

    His Team:
RB – Bradshaw, Forte and Hillis
WR -Calvin Johnson, Austin, M Floyd and K Ogletree
TE – Hernandez and Fred Davis

  22. LestersLegends
    September 27th, 2012 at 9:40 am #

Brandon – I like Williams now. I wouldn’t expect Spiller to even dress. They are probably trying to play Belichick games. I think McGahee will play and should play well.
Clueless – Which A Brown Andre or Antonio? I would counter with RB Andre Brown and M Bush to try and keep your four starters. Otherwise I think you have the depth at RB to make the move. I don’t think I’d do it with Antonio Brown though.

  23. Clueless
    September 27th, 2012 at 10:11 am #

Yes, the RB is Andre Brown

Thank you for the response I really appreciate it!

LINEUP HELP: This is what I am working with: RBS: TURNER, RICHARDSON, & MORRIS & WR: C.JOHNSON, BOWE, AUSTIN, & LLYOD. I NEED 2 RBS, 2 WRS, & A FLEX. who would you start? thanks!

  25. LestersLegends

The odd men out for me would be Lloyd and turner

  26. Emily
    September 27th, 2012 at 1:50 pm #

I have a question about who to play at FLEX. I’ve lost 2 games now based on benching the wrong player. :( I am in a non-PPR league. Here are my RB’s and WR’s of note:

    RB-McCoy, BenJarvis Green-Ellis, Andre Brown
WR- Julio Jones, AJ Green, Demaryius Thomas

Obviously I want to start McCoy, Julio and AJ.

I am going to have to bench one of these 3: Green-Ellis, Brown, or Thomas… and I don’t know which one to sit based on this week’s match-ups etc. I lost last week by benching Brown, and week 1 I lost by benching Thomas. What do you think?

    THANKS!! :)

  27. LestersLegends
    September 27th, 2012 at 2:02 pm #

I would bench Brown. Sounds like Bradshaw is back and they will play the hot hand.

    Lester,
I can’t decided which RB’s to keep & play in my PPR league. I really need the points this week I’m in a tight match up. I picked up LeShoure, I have Morris, but he hasn’t produced for me since week 1. I dropped Bradshaw due to poor production & injury, was that a mistake ( for LeShoure). Do you think Reggie Bush will be well enough to play? If he is which are my strongest two? Many thanks!

  29. LestersLegends
    September 27th, 2012 at 2:55 pm #

I like LeShoure and Morris. Not sure I trust Reggie to play. If he does, you kind of have to go with him. I’d use morris over leshoure.

Let’s assume for a minute that reggie bush and steven jackson each sit out sunday, who’s backup is the better option? (daryl richardson or daniel thomas)

  31. LestersLegends
    September 27th, 2012 at 3:22 pm #

i would say d-rich. i would guess miller would cut into thomas’ touches.

  32. Rozay
    September 27th, 2012 at 3:33 pm #

Thanks for the help. The spiller injury derailed my rb2 spot so im in desperation mode. I’ll go with d-rich this week.

i expect s-jax to play though.

  34. Rozay
    September 27th, 2012 at 3:41 pm #

True. I noticed bush and s-jax both sat out practice today so I thought I’d ask. After what seattle did to green bay’s offense, daniel thomas might have a better shot against arizona anyways

Which 2 of these 3 running backs would you play this week

Alfred Morris, Willis McGahee and Ryan Williams

    Thanks

    Lester,

I need some lineup help for RB. I have Murray, McGahee, Ridley, Morris, and CJ spiller. I was planning to play Morris and Murray, but Murray has a tough draw with Bears D. Im already in a smal hole as my opponent has great matchups and has 20 points projected on me. I was also contemplating picking up ryan Willams and playing him. Some RB advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  37. LestersLegends
    September 28th, 2012 at 12:06 pm #

Matt – I’d go Morris and McGahee.
Sean – I like Morris and McGahee for you too.

    Lester,

    These are my starters
    D. Bowe., Julio Jones, A.Foster, C. Benson.
Considering the above, which one of the following would you put in flex:
S-Jax, Jerome Simpson, or Pierre Thomas?
    Cheers,

    Hey RL,

So early on a quarter season check up, but a lot of moving (uncertain) parts here. I think I am pretty well situated for a PPR 12 team league, but would like a temperature check…really for playoff time come week 13, injury free.

    QB Romo
    RB Murray
    RB Leshoure
    RB/WR Torrey Smith
    WR Harvin
    WR D Thomas
    TE Graham
    K Tuck
    D ARI

    Bench
    QB Ponder
    RB CJ?K
    RB Quizz
    WR CJ Spiller
    WR LaFell
    TE Rudolph

I think I stand pat and hope CJ?K roars back. But…

    1) consider trading Graham (for what?) if Rudolph thrives?
    2) hold onto Spiller? My real-time game observations from Week 2/partial Week 3 lead me to believe even if Flex/splitting carries, this cat has mojo.
    3) drop LaFell and pick up Bilal Powell? I might be situated with RB as is….

    Thanks as always.
