2012 Fantasy Football RB Rankings – Week 7

Oct 15, 2012

With an exciting sixth week under our belts, here are the LestersLegends 2012 Week 7 fantasy football running back rankings.
1. Arian Foster, Houston Texans
Foster scores every week. Eight straight and fourteen of his past fifteen games. Not to mention his yardage. He’s averaging 105.5 total yards per game. Baltimore just lost Ray Lewis and is allowing 136.5 yards per game on the ground.
2. Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens
Houston is a stout run defense, but Rice is such a dynamic player in both the running and passing game. He’s averaging 119.1 total yards per game.
3. Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars
Coming off the bye Mojo should bowl over Oakland’s run defense that is allowing 111.8 yards per game.
4. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
All Day continues to put up solid numbers on the ground and has been more involved in the passing game. Arizona, with 113.3 rushing ypg allowed can be run on. Perhaps Peterson snaps his five-game streak of not getting into the end zone.
5. Trent Richardson, Cleveland Browns
He will be at the mercy of his injury. If he can go he should have his way with a Colts run defense that is yielding 159.0 rushing yards per game.
6. Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders
Run DMC has a strong showing (98 total yards, TD) against Atlanta. He’s been up and down this year, but should be up against the Jaguars, who are allowing 163.0 yards per game.
7. Ahmad Bradshaw, New York Giants
He destroyed the Browns, which isn’t that impressive, but really made his mark by running for 116 yards and a score against the Niners. The Skins have been tough against the run, but it’s hard to bet against the Giants’ offense right now.
8. Matt Forte, Chicago Bears
Forte was in from, collecting 127 total yards against the Jags prior to last week’s bye. The Lions have a decent run defense, but he has never had a bad game against them. In fact, he’s averaging 121.9 total yards and 0.9 TDs against them in eight career games.
9. Alfred Morris, Washington Redskins
The Giants are tough, but Morris keeps getting the job done. He was held to 56 total yards against the Vikings, but managed to get in the end zone.
10. Doug Martin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Martin has to share with Blount, but he should get the bulk of the carries and the work in the passing game. The Saints are giving up 172.8 ypg on the ground.
11. Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers
Gore was limited to 56 total yards, but averaged 4.5 yards per carry. The Giants’ offense took him out of the game. Seattle has a tough defense, but their offense won’t force the Niners to abandon the run.
12. Marshawn Lynch, Seattle Seahawks
Tough draw for Lynch, but he had 131 total yards and a score in their second meeting last year. He dipped last week against the Patriots, but had been steady all year prior.
13. Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans
The Bills are giving up 173.5 ypg. CJ has ran well in two of the past three games. He should have success against the Bills.
14. C.J. Spiller, Buffalo Bills
If only he did not have to share with Fred Jackson. He had 110 yards and a score in 16 touches. Tennessee is giving up 129.5 ypg.
15. Stevan Ridley, RB, New England Patriots
Ridley was held in check by the Seahawks. He should be able to produce against the Jets, who are yielding 150.5 rushing yards per game.
16. Felix Jones, Dallas Cowboys
I’m expecting DeMarco Murray to miss this juicy game against Carolina, who has allowed 127.4 ypg. Jones filled in admirably last week and should be a nice fill-in.
17. Vick Ballard, Indianapolis Colts
He only managed 42 total yards against the Jets, but they were busy getting thumped. He should fare better against Cleveland, who is allowing 131.3 ypg.
18. Alex Green, Green Bay Packers
He only managed 73 total yards, but Houston is tough against the run and Rodgers was on fire. He should be a better play against the Rams.
19. Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams
He’s sharing the load with Richardson so he’s only a low-level RB2 this week against the Packers.
20. BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Cincinnati Bengals
The Firm has a tough draw against Pittsburgh, but their injuries should help. He’s only a RB2 this week because of the byes.
21. Fred Jackson, Buffalo Bills
Jackson has the same nice match-up as Spiller. He is less explosive than Spiller, but is still getting his share of touches.
22. Shonn Greene, New York Jets
He ran extremely well against the Colts, running for 161 yards and three TDs. He’s a low-end RB2 against the Patriots and a guy I’d try to sell high on.
23. William Powell, Arizona Cardinals
He did well with his opportunity, picking up 78 total yards on 14 touches. Minnesota will be a tough draw.
24. Mikel Leshoure, Detroit Lions
The Bears will be tough to run on. They are giving up 65.8 ypg. Thanks to the bye weeks, you may not have a better option though for your RB2.
25. Darren Sproles, New Orleans Saints
Sproles has only had one good yardage game, but has been bailed out by two games with a score. He’s a low-end RB2 against the Bucs.
26. Jonathan Dwyer, Pittsburgh Steelers
With Mendenhall and Redman out, Dwyer returns to relevance. Baron Batch will share the load. Dwyer is only a flex option in my mind.
27. Pierre Thomas, New Orleans Saints
He hasn’t scored a TD all year, but has averaged 73.1 total yards over the past four games.
28. Jonathan Stewart, Carolina Panthers
Hopefully the bye week came at a good time. He’s not getting a lot of action, but he may start seeing more of the load. Dallas presents a tough test.
29. LeGarrette Blount, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Blount has scored the past two games and the Saints have allowed seven rushing scores. If you’re in a bye week bind, Blount could be your guy.
30. DeAngelo Williams, Carolina Panthers
He was dreadful in Week 5, but averaged 63.7 total yards per game Weeks 2-4.
31. Daryl Richardson, St. Louis Rams
He’s working his way into a full timeshare with S-Jax. He’s averaging 5.2 ypc. Jackson is at 3.6. Richardson’s role could continue to grow.

Can’t argue with it…he’s hard to bench in PPR though. But overall been a mild disappointment.

PPR he would be tough to bench, especially with all of the bye teams. I lean more towards non-PPR with my rankings because I feel yardage is far more important than the number of catches you make.

I think you’re right though. He should be in there. Adjusted rankings.

What’s up Les? Here we go again this week….

Leaning towards Big Ben over Stafford this week. Nice to see you are too.
I don’t think Graham will be 100% going into this game. Glad i have Witten ready to go if he is’nt. Tampa has only allowed 1 TD to a TE all year. Am i nuts to start Witten regardless of Graham’s availability? The Saints have been very quiet with this injury. Have you heard anything? Walking boot = no good.

Ridley should put up some points this week at home v. NYJ. Roll him or grab one of the flavors of the week off waivers? (Felix, Green, Powell, Ballard, etc.)? I also have Mendenhall on my bench. PPR league.
    As always, thanks…

somewhere – that’s not a bad plan playing it safe with witten. it’s not like it’s a mediocre option. To me rolling with Ridley is the thing to do. Felix is close. PPR he may actually be a better option.

Hey Ryan waiver wire priorities…shonne Greene out there so is Daryl Richardson and flex jones… Long term value what should the priority be?? Thx

long term greene. short term felix.

Okay another tough one for me in the flex… My plan is to play Ridley and Mojo at RB this week… For flex I have alex green, felix jones, or frank gore. What are your thoughts?

  11. LestersLegends
    October 16th, 2012 at 8:30 am #

i’d stick with gore, but felix has some serious upside. I’d look to trade one of them.

Guy in my league is like 1-5 and is desperate for a QB. He has Vick on a bye and ASmith, who, well…kinda stinks and has Seattle this week, plus he needs to win or he’s done, more or less. I have Staff and Big Ben. Dont know which one he wants. We’re gonna talk on the phone tonight. He’s offering Forte or MJD. I already have Rice, Charles, Ridley, and Mendy. What’s the value of Forte and MJD? And, do i need to even make the deal based on who i have? My WR’s are Julio, Colston, Wallace, and ABrown. Do you think he’ll want a QB and a WR for either one of those RB’s to sweeten the deal?

In other words who would you give up for Forte, and for MJD?

  13. LestersLegends
    October 16th, 2012 at 1:58 pm #

I kinda like having two options at QB to go with your good options at RB and WR. That said if you can move one for either back it’s probably worth it. You can then possibly do another package deal and get a top tier option at any of the positions.

My rb’s are Mccoy, Jamaal Charles, CJ Spiller, and Bradshaw. We play 2 rb and 3 wr. Would it be woah crazy crazy to try and trade McCoy for AJ Green or some other legit #1 wr. I really don’t trust Philly’s line, but you never know what can be fixed after a bye week.

Hey Les, i made the trade. Stafford for MJD straight up. Who would you sit out of Wallace @ Cincy, Ridley v. NYJ, or MJD @ Oak? Play the 2 RB’s this week right?

I will take your advice and try to package up a few players to make a run at a elite QB within the next week or so. My question is, i need to snag someone off FA this week just to have on my bench behind Big Ben. Quite a few choices. Who would you pick out of ASmith, Ponder, Fitzpatrick, Weeden, Palmer, Freeman, Wilson, Cutler?

    Thanks yet again…

  16. LestersLegends

    would make that deal jared.
i’m with you with the rbs. probably cutler.

Who are the best options at RB2 and flex this week between vick ballard, william powell, kyle rudolph or dominik hixon?

  18. LestersLegends

    I’d say ballard and hixon.

Thanks! I have frank gore and was considering sitting him against seattle in favor of william powell. Do you recommend that?

I wouldn’t because MN’s run defense is tough and with skelton at QB i’m nervous they won’t stack the box.

That’s a good point. I’m still torn between kyle rudolph and dominik hixon at flex! Hixon gets the yardage but rudolph gets the td’s.

  23. LestersLegends
    October 17th, 2012 at 11:02 am #

right. that made me think. plus if nicks is more like his old self he could take some of hixon’s targets

  24. jess
    October 17th, 2012 at 11:10 am #

I’m going with rudolph but hixon will be good depth because nicks always seems to find ways to get hurt. thanks for all your help! :)

    ok. here we go…
mendy, lynch are my starters since bush is on bye and my fourth running back is ryan williams. i need to drop williams but who should i pick up? FELIX JONES,ALEX GREEN,PIERRE THOMAS,JOHN STEWART OR DANNY WODDHEAD. I want someone who will be more than just a good fill-in.

  26. LestersLegends
    October 17th, 2012 at 12:02 pm #

    no problem jess
Nico – felix jones should be good for a couple of weeks. green is best long-term answer. felix should be really good this week though.

Hi! Sorry to bother you again but I just read about ahmad bradshaw sitting this week and it changed my RB situation. Would you go with andre brown over vick ballard?

  28. Nico
    October 17th, 2012 at 12:06 pm #

if i pick up Jones then should i start him over mendy or lynch?

  29. LestersLegends

jess – he’s just sitting out of practice. if he does miss, i’d go with ballard
Nico – Mendy. he’s banged up.

Okay… so between Gore and Felix Jones at flex you mentioned you felt Gore would be the better option. Still the case? I’m really nervous about Gore given his lack of production against Minnesota, but apparently the seahawks don’t play as well away. That said, Jones isn’t so reliable (1 TD in 2011). Help me please! :)

  31. LestersLegends
    October 17th, 2012 at 1:56 pm #

gore is the safer play. jones has more upside. it all depends if you roll the dice or not.

Les, I don’t like that Jimmy Graham is’nt practicing, and is most likely not going to be 100% even if he does play. Is Witten a better play this week than Graham? I feel even if Graham plays, Witten is the better play based on his ridiculous production the past 2 weeks, and the fact that Graham is’nt 100% and is’nt targeted lately like Witten. Thoughts?

  33. LestersLegends
    October 17th, 2012 at 6:12 pm #

getting nervous about him too. go with Witten.

    Hey RL….
Have Demarco on the shelf, so picked up Tanner as Felix was taken already…and we all know Felix will get hurt or underperform. Question then….would you pick up Donald Brown and drop Tanner? I suppose I should but I also think Tanner is a good hedge against a worse Demarco injury.

    Thanks as always…

  35. LestersLegends

Let’s assume that Ahmad Bradshaw doesn’t play this week, would Andre Brown be a better option at RB2 than Vick Ballard (or even William Powell)?

  37. LestersLegends
    October 18th, 2012 at 11:27 am #

I’d play Ballard. The G-Men have been wanting to get Wilson in.

Hey Lester, I need a win badly this week. I’m starting a 3wrs set with Welker, Nelson and James Jones. I just pick up Felix Jones. Should I start Felix Jones over James Jones or leave the 3 wrs set. PPR leagu

  39. LestersLegends

What would you trade to get MJD if anything? I have Rice, Mathews, McGahee and Greene-Ellis. Also have Steve Johnson, B. Marshall, Colston and Nicks at receiver. Gates and Gresham at TE

  41. Clueless
    October 19th, 2012 at 6:53 am #

Just want confirmation that I made a good trade – PPR

I gave James Jones and I got McGahee?

My WR/RB Roster is now this:

    Calvin Johnson
    Percy Harvin
    Antonio Brown
    Josh Gordon

  42. LestersLegends
    October 19th, 2012 at 7:50 am #

good trade. you needed a rb and you got a good one and you traded a WR than probably won’t be in your starting lineup come season end assuming jennings gets healthy

  43. Cwell
    October 19th, 2012 at 1:20 pm #

What do you think about the MJD trade question?

  44. LestersLegends
    October 19th, 2012 at 1:54 pm #

Sorry, thought I answered that. I wouldn’t make the deal. You have four good RBs. No need to trade away your depth to get MJD.

  45. Lance
    October 20th, 2012 at 12:51 am #

Ray Rice, Alfred Morris, and Felix Jones. I need to start two of the three in my non-ppr league. One is obviously Rice but I’m torn between Morris and Jones. Suggestions?

  46. LestersLegends
    October 20th, 2012 at 8:05 am #

morris is your safe play given his success this year. jones has big game potential, but is a risk. if you are a gambler then felix.
