2012 Fantasy Football RB Rankings – Week 9

Oct 29, 2012

With an exciting eighth week under our belts, here are the LestersLegends 2012 Week 9 fantasy football running back rankings.
1. Arian Foster, Houston Texans
Averaging 105.1 total yards with ten touchdowns. He’s as good as it gets and he gets to face a Bills defense that is giving up 176.9 yards per game on the ground.
2. LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia Eagles
McCoy scored via the run and the pass last week. He should be dominant again against a bad Saints defense. They are giving up 170.1 rushing yards per game.
3. Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens
The Browns have improved against the pass, but they are still a mess against the run, giving up 131.6 yards per game. Rice should feast.
4. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
Seattle is tough, but the way All Day is running I’ll throw him in there against anybody. He’s averaging 114.3 total yards per game.
5. Matt Forte, Chicago Bears
Forte is averaging 107.0 total yards the past three games. He’s taking on the Titans, who are giving up 139.3 ypg.
6. Trent Richardson, Cleveland Browns
I expect the Ravens to be tougher out of the bye, but they are still yielding 142.9 ypg. Richardson is a monster.
7. Marshawn Lynch, Seattle Seahawks
Lynch has two straight 100+ yard games. Doug Martin just dominated the Vikings. They will struggle to contain Beast Mode.
8. Alfred Morris, Washington Redskins
He had his first unimpressive game, but still managed 59 yards on 4.5 yards per carry. He played a tough Steelers team and would likely have had more yardage if his receivers didn’t have so many drops. Plays Carolina, who is giving up 114.4 ypg.
9. Ryan Mathews, San Diego Chargers
Had 20+ touches again. He didn’t score, but he’s averaging 98.5 total yards the past two games. Faces the Chiefs, who are giving up 126.4 ypg.
10. Doug Martin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Ripped the Vikings and had extra time to get ready for the Raiders. He’s averaging 155.7 total yards the past three games.
11. Willis McGahee, Denver Broncos
Had 155 total yards and a touchdown against the Saints. Should do well against Cincinnati, who has allowed nine rushing touchdowns and 124.0 yards per game.
12. Reggie Bush, Miami Dolphins
.Bush has put up mediocre numbers the past few games, but his speed should be on display against the Colts in Indy. They are giving up 137.4 ypg.
13. Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans
The Bears will be tough, but CJ is averaging 143.0 total yards the past three games.
14. Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders
The Bucs are solid against the run, but DMC is averaging 105.3 total yards the past three weeks.
15. Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs
Charles has been painfully ignored the past few games. The Chargers are only yielding 80.0 yards per game, but Charles is always a threat to break one.
16. Ahmad Bradshaw, New York Giants
Averaging 96.8 total yards per game, but Pittsburgh is a tough test.
17. Rashad Jennings, Jacksonville Jaguars
Had 115 total yards against the Pack. Should be solid against the Lions.
18. Jonathan Stewart, Carolina Panthers
J-Stew had a decent game with 80 total yards against the Bears. Life should be easier against the Skins.
19. C.J. Spiller, Buffalo Bills
Sharing the load is tough enough. Add in facing Houston and he is an RB2 option.
20. Pierre Thomas, New Orleans Saints
With Sproles out his role should expand against the Eagles.
21. Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons
He’ll get his touches, but I’m not expecting a big day against Dallas.
22. BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Cincinnati Bengals
Hasn’t scored the past four weeks while averaging 62.3 total yards. Takes on Denver.
23. Isaac Redman, Pittsburgh Steelers
Musical chairs at running back continues. Redman should be solid against the G-Men.
24. Mikel LeShoure, Detroit Lions
The Lions don’t run often. Bell is stealing carries. LeShoure could be solid against Jacksonville, who is giving up 135.7 ypg, but he’s risky as an RB2. Solid flex choice/low-end RB2.
25. Alex Green, Green Bay Packers
He’s not dazzling, but he’s averaging 70.6 total yards the past four games. James Starks figures to get in the mix, which hurts Green’s appeal against Arizona.
26. Donald Brown, Indianapolis Colts
Will likely share the load with Ballard, but I prefer Brown against the Dolphins. Neither are strong plays this week.
27. Fred Jackson, Buffalo Bills
Like Spiller, he’s sharing the load and facing Houston. Not a pretty outlook.
28.LaRod Stephens-Howling, Arizona Cardinals
They Cardinals are going to have to throw plenty against Green Bay, which should work into LSH’s favor.
29. Felix Jones, Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys ground game is fluid. It all depends on Felix and Murray’s health how they’ll stack up against Atlanta.
30. Daniel Thomas, Miami Dolphins
Has scored in three of the past four games. Should continue to see double-digit carries against the Colts.

Looks like Tate is going to miss some time with a hamstring injury. He’s not even ready to practice. Should Foster owners who have Ben Tate as a handcuff drop him and pick up Forsett?

Ah. I wouldn’t worry about Forsett. Looks like I have to tweak the rankings. THanks for the heads up.

It might be a little early in the week to be asking for assistance, but I like to set my lineup ahead of time. I have running back issues. I was pretty confident in starting leshoure, r. Jennings, & j. Stewart. But I also have r. Mendenhall, LSH, & A. Green. Am I making the proper move this week?

Both my rb’s are on bye this week and its not looking to good. I have daniel thomas but need 1 more. Ronnie hillman, joique bell, andre brown, jaquizz rodgers are all available. Who has the best matchup/most touches?

I’d go with LSH. He should see most touches.

Good call. Hopefully his bad performance on monday night was on account of the 49ers D and is more involved against green bay.

i thinks so. He had 32 receiving yards, which is encouraging. I think he’ll see a good amount of that this week.

Hello Lester, I just pick up Jonathan Dwyer. I’m starting Torrey Smith , J.Nelson and James Jones in a 3 WR set. I’m thinking about starting Dwyer in place of Torrey Smith. What do you think?

I had a friend propose a trade to me. Is get P. Harvin, T. Richardson, & D. Amendola. I would give B. Marshall, J. Stewart, & LSH. normally I would say yes except Marshall & Stewart have already had their byes. Harvin & Richardson still have there’s coming up. What would you do?

Thank you, you’ve helped me a lot this week. One more thing, our league we get one keeper for next season. Is Richardson the Rb to have next year or is mjd the one I should hold on to?

Trich. He could be ##2 or #3 RB next year.

Do you think if Isaac redman is starting he would be better against NYG than leshoure against jags?

  18. LestersLegends

I think Redman would be a slightly better option.

Given sproles injury, is mark ingram still too risky a play this week? I’m pretty desperate with bye weeks and the fact my other RB j.charles already played last night.

  20. LestersLegends
    November 2nd, 2012 at 4:21 pm #

i’d say he’s pretty risky. depends on your alternatives.

I’m trying to fill RB2 and flex with these options: Daniel thomas, LSH, ingram(free agent) and britt. Which 2 would you give the nod to?

Lester bye week this week is killing me… I was planning on going Titus young, jordy, r. Jennings, Alex green and josh Gordon. With jordy most likely out, what are your thoughts: cecil shorts in for jordy, and both redman or Pierre Thomas are available in place of Alex green?

  26. LestersLegends

i like PT for green and shorts for jordy

    Hey Lester,
pick 2 one for wideout, one for flex.
    T.Young, D. Thomas, J. Gordon, LSH, B. Hartline, K. Britt.
Thinking T.Young and D. Thomas? agree/disagree? Thanks man.

Trying to figure out what rb to go with i picked up redman and have felix jones, bell, and donald brown. I was thinking of going with jones and redman but not sure.

  32. LestersLegends

i’d go that route as well.

ok just wondering on alex green cause i have a bye week where L. tynes will be out and even though he is just a kicker he is putting up the most points for kickers this year so i dont just want to drop him for a week. so i was considering either alex green or danny amendola, in order to keep my fantasy week saving kicker.
