2012 Fantasy Football Start/Sit Week 13

Nov 28, 2012

Eli Manning under Center
.
Here’s a look at LestersLegends sit and start advice as you set your lineups for the 13th week of the 2012 NFL season.
.
Quarterbacks
Start:
Eli Manning, New York Giants
The bye week seemed to do Eli good as he tossed three touchdown passes last week. The Washington Redskins have allowed 301.4 passing yards per game and 23 passing scores. Eli threw for 337 yards in the first meeting with the ‘Skins.
.
Sit:
Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears
Cutler was pretty quiet in his return to action last week. This week could be more of the same as he squares off with the Seattle Seahawks. They rank third in the league in passing defense with 200.7 yards allowed per game. They are one of two teams, along with the Baltimore Ravens, to have allowed 10 or fewer touchdown passes.
.
Running Backs
Start:
Ahmad Bradshaw, New York Giants
Bradshaw just got a major bump in value when Andre Brown was lost for the season. The Redskins defend the run well, but Bradshaw is a dual threat, so he should help out in the passing game as well.
.
Sit:
Indianapolis Colts Running Backs
The Colts have a decent matchup against the Detroit Lions, but Vick Ballard and Donald Brown are splitting carries evenly. They had an even better matchup last week against the Buffalo Bills, but failed to impress. Ballard had 41 yards and Brown had 49.
.
Wide Receivers
Start:
Cecil Shorts and Justin Blackmon, Jacksonville Jaguars
Chad Henne has made Jacksonville fans remember the days of Jimmy Smith and Keenan McCardell. They have combined for 484 yards and four touchdowns in the past two games.
.
Sit:
Danny Amendola, St. Louis Rams
Amendola was basically a decoy last week as he nursed a foot injury. He is facing the San Francisco 49ers. The Niners rank second in pass defense with 187.3 yards per game allowed. They have also allowed just 12 passing touchdowns.
.
Tight Ends
Start:
Jermichael Finley, Green Bay Packers
Finley turned in his second strong performance. He has had past success against the Minnesota Vikings, averaging 69.3 yards with two touchdowns in three career games. The Vikings had allowed either 40 yards or a touchdown to opposing tight ends every week prior to last week against the Bears. Chicago isn’t exactly known for their tight end play these days.
.
Sit:
Vernon Davis, San Francisco 49ers
Just when I thought it was safe to trust Vernon, he drops another goose egg on us. He’s too big of a risk for my taste.
.
Defenses
Start:
Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals are playing great football. They have allowed just 9.7 points per game during their three-game winning streak. Cincinnati ranks ninth in total defense (334.5 yards allowed per game) and 15th in scoring defense (22.5 points allowed per game).  The San Diego Chargers rank 25th in total offense (324.4) and 16th in scoring offense (22.3).
.
Sit:
Denver Broncos
I like what Denver has been doing defensively, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been on fire. They are 12th in the league in total offense (365.4 yards per game) and fourth in the league in scoring (28.2 points per game).

Hey Lester, who would you start at the one flex position out of these 3. Pierre Garcon, Jason Witten or Knowshon Moreno? Many Thanks

    PPR – Witten. Standard Moreno.

I’m a little skittish to start Eli this weekend Lester. I guess the main reason is because I also have Romo rostered, and he has a juicy matchup as well. You feel pretty strongly that Eli is the better start over Romo?

I hear that. I feel they are in the same tier. Low-end QB1s. I don’t see Eli as significantly better than Romo.

Oh, and I noticed you didn’t have the Cowboys as a top 10 defense this week. The way they decimated the Eagles a few weeks ago, I was a little surprised to see them unranked. The way the Eagles are imploding, I think the Cowboys are a top 10, maybe a top 5 this week. i’m definitley starting them.

I suppose I gave the Eagles a little too much credit for the way Brown ran on Monday.

Well, Brown may shred them on the ground, but Foles is almost guaranteed a few picks. There were two passes Monday night that a better secondary would’ve intercepted. Maybe I’m a little bullish, but I just have a good feeling about it. Anyway, you’d start Eli over Romo for certain?

I would, but it’s close. Washington’s secondary looked pretty good on Thanksgiving. Toss up.
