2012 Fantasy Football Start/Sit Week 14

Eli Manning under Center
Here’s a look at LestersLegends sit and start advice as you set your lineups for the 14th week of the 2012 NFL season.
Eli Manning, New York Giants
Eli did not light up the Washington Redskins, but he avoided mistakes. In his past two games he’s averaging 264.5 yards and a pair of touchdowns. I am expecting a high-scoring affair with the New Orleans Saints. The Saints have allowed 286.7 yards per game and 23 passing touchdowns.
Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers
Rivers is averaging 258 yards with one touchdown and one interception in his past two games. The Pittsburgh Steelers lead the league in passing defense, allowing just 167.7 yards per game.
Running Backs
BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Cincinnati Bengals
The Law Firm now has three straight 100-yard games giving the Bengals a balanced offense. The Dallas Cowboys have allowed nice games to Bryce Brown, Alfred Morris, and Trent Richardson the past three weeks. On the year, they are yielding 116.5 yards per game and 11 rushing touchdowns.
Ryan Mathews, San Diego Chargers
Sit Mathews if you can. The Steelers have the fifth best rushing defense, allowing 93.1 yards per game. They have allowed eight rushing scores, but Mathews has just one score on the year.
Beanie Wells, Arizona Cardinals
Beanie had a favorable matchup against the New York Jets and managed just 22 yards on 15 carries. Avoid all Cardinals against the Seattle Seahawks.
Wide Receivers
Torrey Smith and Anquan Boldin, Baltimore Ravens
The passing game in Baltimore is very inconsistent. Smith is your home run threat and Boldin is your safe play. Both should be solid against the Washington Redskins. The Skins have allowed 299 yards per game and 24 passing touchdowns.
Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals have turned a possible Hall of Fame wide receiver into a player that probably shouldn’t be on a fantasy roster. He has 65 yards in his past three games…combined.
Tight Ends
Brandon Myers, Oakland Raiders
The Raiders aren’t very good. I expect them to get down early to the Denver Broncos and turn to the passing game. Myers leads the team in yards (721) and is coming off a 130-yard game. The Broncos have allowed nine tight end touchdowns.
Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers
If it feels like I’m picking on the Chargers, I am. Part of it is my bitterness for having both Mathews and Gates on my main roster. Part is just the cold, hard facts. Gates has averaged 26.3 yards the past three weeks. Coincidentally, that is right before I acquired him. Ugh. Plus, he’s facing the aforementioned Steelers’ pass defense.
Cleveland Browns
The Browns have allowed just 17 points per game in their past six games. The Kansas City Chiefs rank 31st in scoring (15.7). I expect Trent Richardson to control the clock and limit Kansas City’s possessions.
Houston Texans
Great defensive unit, but I wouldn’t want to use them against the high-powered New England Patriots.

Lester, do you think Myers is a better play this week than Owen Daniels?

I do, but they are both good options.

What about Danario or Steve Smith? If LaFell misses time, does Steve become the better option this week?

They are in the same tier for me. I like DX a little better, but Smith is just as good a play.

Don’t like either option. I suppose I would.

Sit/Start (flex – ppr league) Vick Ballard or Stevan Ridley? Donald Brown out with ankle injury. My starting RB’s are Moreno and Rice.

    I’d go Ridley.
