2012 Fantasy Football Start/Sit Week 15

Dec 12, 2012

.
Here’s a look at LestersLegends sit and start advice as you set your lineups for the 15th week of the 2012 NFL season.
.
Quarterbacks
Start:
Josh Freeman, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Freeman has cooled in his past three games, averaging 229 yards with four touchdowns and a pick. He’ll welcome a return engagement with the New Orleans Saints, who he torched for 420 yards and three touchdowns in Week 7. The Saints have allowed 284.5 yards per game and 27 passing touchdowns.
.
Sit:
Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
Romo’s value suffers without Dez Bryant. He was emerging as one of the top receivers in the game. The Pittsburgh Steelers got burned last week, but they still lead the league in passing defense, allowing just 169.2 yards per game.
.
Running Backs
Start:
Mikel LeShoure, Detroit Lions
LeShoure has six touchdowns in his past six games. His power running could be problematic for the Arizona Cardinals, who have allowed 140.5 yards per game and nine rushing touchdowns. Marshawn Lynch, another power running back, had three touchdowns on 11 carries against them last week.
.
Sit:
Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons
Turner has scored in four straight games, which has salvaged his value. He has only topped 47 yards in one of the past five games though. The New York Giants are one of eight teams to have allowed seven or fewer rushing scores. It doesn’t look good in this one for the runner formerly known as Burner.
.
Wide Receivers
Start:
Michael Crabtree, San Francisco 49ers
I think Bill Belichick could have some things up his sleeve for Colin Kaepernick, but ultimately the New England Patriots still struggle in pass defense. Crabtree has averaged 97 yards the past two games and has four touchdowns in his past six.
.
Sit:
Brandon Lloyd, New England Patriots
Lloyd had a great game last week as the Houston Texans bit on a play fake, and he pounded on a fumble for his second touchdown. Other than Wes Welker and Aaron Hernandez, you don’t know who the Pats will rely on week-to-week. In the four prior weeks he averaged 31.5 yards without a touchdown.
.
Tight Ends
Start:
Greg Olsen, Carolina Panthers
Olsen has scored a touchdown in four of the past five games. Cam Newton is playing at an unbelievable level. Olsen and Steve Smith are his top two targets. They should both see plenty of looks against the San Diego Chargers.
.
Sit:
Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers
Gates continues to merely exist. He has 110 yards in his past four games combined. That used to be a good Sunday for Gates. He’s an afterthought with Danario Alexander and Malcom Floyd getting first dibs at the dinner table. The scraps just aren’t enough for Gates to be a viable fantasy option.
.
Defenses
Start:
Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals rank sixth in total defense (328.0 yards allowed per game). They are above-average at stopping both the run and the pass. I like their chances in a short week against a young team.
.
Sit:
San Francisco 49ers
Last week I said sit the Houston Texans. This week it’s the Niners. I just don’t use them against the high-powered New England Patriots.

Should I start Reggie Bush in my flex position or should I go with Roddy White? White’s knee scares me, but I don’t know if I should sit him because he’s never missed a game.

I’d probably go Roddy in a good matchup. If you want to play it safe with Bush, that’s not a bad matchup either.
