2012 Fantasy Football TE Rankings – Week 12

Nov 19, 2012

With an exciting 11th week under our belts, here are the LestersLegends 2012 Week 12 fantasy football tight end rankings.
1. Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints
With Gronk out Graham is now the top option without question. He has five touchdowns in his past four games. There is no reason to think he won’t continue to excel against the San Francisco 49ers.
2. Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys
Witten racked up seven more receptions giving him 65 in the past seven games. A trip to the end zone would be nice. The Washington Redskins have allowed seven tight end touchdowns so it could happen.
3. Tony Gonzalez, Atlanta Falcons
Julio Jones is hurting so Gonzo could be active against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs have allowed five tight end touchdowns, including four in the past five games.
4. Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers
Gates had a disappointing showing against the Denver Broncos. He should rebound against the Baltimore Ravens.
5. Vernon Davis, San Francisco 49ers
Davis should be able to produce against the New Orleans Saints.
6. Aaron Hernandez, New England Patriots
Hernandez should be back just in time to replace Gronk. The New York Jets have allowed six tight end touchdowns.
7. Jermaine Gresham, Cincinnati Bengals
Gresham is averaging 64 yards in his past three games. The Oakland Raiders have allowed six tight end touchdowns.
8. Owen Daniels, Houston Texans
Daniels is averaging 59.3 yards with two touchdowns in his past three games. The Detroit Lions have allowed six tight end touchdowns.
9. Brandon Pettigrew, Detroit Lions
I expect the Lions to have a hard time running against Houston. That’s when Pettigrew seems to be active. The Texans have allowed six tight end touchdowns.
10. Brandon Myers, Oakland Raiders
Myers has three touchdowns in the past three games. The Bengals have allowed five tight end touchdowns.
11. Greg Olsen, Carolina Panthers
Olsen remains a top weapon for Cam Newton. The Philadelphia Eagles have allowed two tight end scores in the past three games.
12. Jermichael Finley, Green Bay Packers
Finley came off bye to score. He’s a risky TE1, but with Aaron Rodgers he could be solid against the New York Giants.
13. Dwayne Allen, Indianapolis Colts
Allen is averaging 57.8 yards over the past four games. The Bills have allowed three tight end touchdowns in the past three games.
14. Heath Miller, Pittsburgh Steelers
Miller is not a legit TE1 against the Cleveland Browns without Big Ben in the lineup.
15. Kyle Rudolph, Minnesota Vikings
He looked good prior to the bye. He’s a risk because Christian Ponder often forgets he’s there. Rudolph is a great athlete though. The Bears present a tough challenge.

Would you run with Witten as your TE for the rest of the season or pick up Hernandez? I would have to make a bold move & drop Bush. I don’t think that would hurt me now that I acquired Reece, & have Morris & Mendy is back. Thoughts? Thanks as always!

I wouldn’t drop Witten. I’d maybe pick up Hernandez too, but I wouldn’t drop Witten.

I said that I would have to drop Bush if I was to pick up Hernandez. I love Witten, I was asking if you thought I needed another TE? Have Morris, Mendy & Reece.

Missed the second part of that. Sorry. That’s tough. DMC will be back and then Reece isn’t worth as much. Bush does have a good schedule coming up. Hernandez could be huge but if you can’t play him it would be tough to get rid of Reggie. Trade deadline has probably passed so you can’t do anything there.

Hernandez is too good not to own. What is your worst receiver?

Cruz, Julio, Amendola, Crabtree & should get DX for Hartline in Waiver wire request.

OK so you can’t drop one of them. You have a problem of having too deep of a team. I suppose you can pick him up for Bush and then add Bush back for Reece when DMC comes back.

4 WR’s & 3 RB’s is a deep team in a 12 league? I’m lighter than most, some just float with one QB. I could pick up Fred Jackson & drop a back. I’m just not sure if Bush can cut it until week 15 & 16 when his schedule is light. I could play Reece than make a move for Jackson with him for 13. I would love to trade Bush for Ridley, he’s been riding the bench in my league forever & it drives me crazy that he’s never played. This guy beat me to him by minutes & for what! If you have any better ideas, I’m open. Thanks!

Not deep in the sense that you’re overstocked. Deep in the sense that you have good options all around.

Sorry, I wasn’t following you. I’ve tried to build a strong team, I’m still hanging on to my #1 spot with a win this week. I am hurting a bit at RB. I plan to play Reece & Morris this week. Bush for Hernandez? Is Jackson worth the pick up once he is cleared from his concussion? Bills looking better lately. Could drop a defense, not thrilled to do so, waiting on your rankings to see if they figure in with mine. Thanks again!

Or am I better off with Ronnie Hillman instead of Fred Jackson?

    I would say Hillman.

This week was BRUTAL. I scored the 2nd most points in the league … I don’t need to tell you who I was playing against (see: Andre Johnson, Tom Brady, Lance Moore). For the cherry on top, I lost Gronkowski and McGahee.

I have T-Rich and Spiller, so I’m not too worried about losing McGahee. I need to pick up a backup for B-Myers … should I drop Gronkowski, or hold him on the off-chance that he makes it back by Week 16? I’m pretty sure the Pats will have a playoff spot locked up by then, not sure they would use him again until the postseason.

This is probably all moot … I am 5-6, 7th place with the 3rd most points in the league. Maybe my luck will turn, but I have to win out and get lots of help to get back to 4th place.

I would hold onto Gronk. I think there is a chance he’s back by Week 15 or 16.

I am hurting at TE, as I have Pitta and Paulsen right now… I can also pick up Dallas Clark, Mercedes Lewis and Fleener (I know he’s still banged up). Who do you like this week and down the road as I have a deep roster otherwise and my firsts to drop would be my 2nd Defense, Jets, but they have a good matchup next week. Or Garcon, Moore, Torrey Smith as my bench WR’s and dont want to drop them. My first to drop would prob be one of the TE’s I have now. Thanks!
