2012 Fantasy Football TE Rankings – Week 8

Oct 22, 2012

.
With an exciting seventh week under our belts, here are the LestersLegends 2012 Week 8 fantasy football tight end rankings.
.
1. Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots
Gronk is coming off a two touchdown game giving him five on the year. Takes on St. Louis in London.
.
2. Tony Gonzalez, Atlanta Falcons
Averaging 71.7 yards with four touchdowns in six games. Bye week to charge the batteries before facing Philly.
.
3. Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys
Has 25 catches in the past three games. Takes on the Giants.
.
4. Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints
His availability will be in question, but if he can go he’s a strong option against Denver.
.
5. Heath Miller, Pittsburgh Steelers
Facing the Redskins’ league-worst pass defense. Has five touchdowns in six games.
.
6. Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers
Scored twice before the bye. Takes on Cleveland.
.
7. Vernon Davis, San Francisco 49ers
Wasn’t targeted last week. That should get corrected against Arizona.
.
8. Kyle Rudolph, Minnesota Vikings
Didn’t catch a pass last week, but he’s a big time red zone threat. Has five touchdowns entering this week’s game with Tampa Bay.
.
9. Martellus Bennett, New York Giants
Got back on track with five catches for 79 yards. Had 40 yards and a score in the first meeting with Dallas.
.
10. Brent Celek, Philadelphia Eagles
Fourth among TEs with 357 yards. Takes on Atlanta.
.
11. Brandon Myers, Oakland Raiders
Averaging 55.7 yards. Hasn’t scored, which keeps him from a higher ranking. Takes on the Chiefs.
.
12. Greg Olsen, Carolina Panthers
Faces a tough Bears team, which should lead to plenty of looks.
.
13. Jared Cook, Tennessee Titans
Averaging 46.9 yards. Has the talent to have a big day, but Tennessee doesn’t utilize him enough.
.
14.Brandon Pettigrew, Detroit Lions
Tough match-up against the Seahawks, but he’s a heavily targeted option.
.
15. Dustin Keller, New York Jets
Keller had a huge game against the Patriots last week. He looks healthy again and is a low-end TE1 option against the Dolphins.

Lester, I own Bennett and Rudolph in our PPR league. They both share the same bye week, they both average the same amount of points thus far in the season, and they both have exactly 25 receptions so far. They’re almost identical in production, so I think I’m going to move one of them, or at least see what I can get. Which one do you think holds the most long term value this season?

I guess I’d say Bennett. Rudolph unfortunately can disappear and if he doesn’t get in the end zone he gets you nothing. Literally last week.

This Jimmy Graham ordeal is starting to bug me. What are your thoughts? I’m not sure who will be available if he can’t go. David Thomas is available but I will reach out regarding options if Jimmy is sitting another week. 3 weeks is a long time, he must’ve have really jacked up his ankle. Do you know anything I don’t? Will he suit up?

    Thanks

Hey Lester, which TE do I start? Rudolph or Bennett? I need some point in the TE position.

rudolph has more upside but bennett is safer. if rudolph doesn’t get in end zone you’re kinda screwed.

    Hey Lester,

Saw your above comments about Rudolph and Bennett. I started Rudolph and he got me a cool 2.7 pts. I’m looking to pickup another TE to swap in for Rudolph. Bennett is available, along with Pettigrew, Cook, Chandler, Dressen, and Tamme. I was going to go after Bennett, then Pettigrew. Best possible options?

Agree. I shared your misery last night as well. He’s gone from my team ASAP.

Would you pick up Miller or Dreessen in addition to Witten long term. Dreessen has a lot of TD’s this year. Both good, is one better?

Heath Miller has been great. I’d add him.

For all the Jimmy Graham owners: since Jimmy is playing a night game do you sit him and start your best available TE option or do you try and grab tamme, dreesen, or thomas so you can plug them in late in case Graham doesn’t play?

    Thanks

if you have an expendable player, especially if he’s a TE ranked 10th or lower that’s not a bad call.
