2013 Get ‘em or Don’t Sweat ‘em – NFL Week 10

Nov 4, 2013

Nick Foles
There were some unusual heroes this week. There always are. Let’s take a look at them and see if they are worthy of your fantasy rosters.
Jason Campbell, QB, Cleveland Browns
Jason Campbell threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns against the Baltimore Ravens. He also ran for 20 yards. He’s worth an add in two-quarterback leagues, but there are so many quality optionsbl

out there that he isn’t of much use in standard leagues.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Nick Foles, QB, Philadelphia Eagles
Nick Foles threw for 406 yards and seven touchdowns against the Oakland Raiders. After that historic performance, it’s clear that he should be owned.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Shonn Greene, WR, Tennessee Titans
Shonn Greene ran for 38 yards and a touchdown against the St. Louis Rams. He added 28 receiving yards. He is going to get some touches, but probably not enough for a fantasy role.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Rashad Jennings, RB, Oakland Raiders
Rashad Jennings ran for 102 yards and added 74 receiving yards against the Philadelphia Eagles. If Darren McFadden misses any time with his latest hamstring injury, Jennings would be in line for significant touches.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Darrel Young, RB, Washington Redskins
Darrel Young ran for 12 yards and three touchdowns against the San Diego Chargers. Roy Helu did the same thing a few weeks back. All Mike Shanahan is doing is keeping Alfred Morris from being one of the top fantasy running backs in the game.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Doug Baldwin, WR, Seattle Seahawks
Doug Baldwin caught six of 10 targets for 75 yards and a score against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He should see more looks until Percy Harvin is ready to join the Seattle Seahawks.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Riley Cooper, WR, Philadelphia Eagles
Riley Cooper caught five of six targets for 139 yards and three touchdowns against the Raiders. He really plays well when Foles is under center.
Ruling:  Get ‘em.
Jerricho Cotchery, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
Jerricho Cotchery caught seven of eight targets for 96 yards and three touchdowns against the New England Patriots. He’s worth a speculative add.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Aaron Dobson, WR, New England Patriots
Aaron Dobson caught five of nine targets for 130 yards and two touchdowns. That’s three scores in his past two games.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Marquise Goodwin, WR, Buffalo Bills
Marquise Goodwin caught two of four targets for 64 yards and a touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs. It was his second solid game in a row, but I’d look elsewhere.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Brandon LaFell, WR, Carolina Panthers
Brandon LaFell caught six of nine targets for 74 yards against the Atlanta Falcons. He’s a decent bench option.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Greg Little, WR, Cleveland Browns
Greg Little caught seven of nine targets for 122 yards against the Ravens. He had not done much prior to this outburst so leave him on the waiver wire.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Robert Meachem, WR, New Orleans Saints
Robert Meachem caught four of five targets for 93 yards against the New York Jets.  Outside of Jimmy Graham the Saints don’t have a reliable option in the passing game.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Lance Moore, WR, New Orleans Saints
Lance Moore caught six of 10 targets for 70 yards against the Jets. It was his second decent showing in a row. If anyone is going to complement Graham, it could be Moore.
Ruling: Get ‘em.

What do you think of Mike Brown?

    Not a bad add.

    Hi Lester!
I have Decker, J. Gordon, M Wallace & my 4th Wr has to be dumped Blackmon!
Would pick up Harvin & stash him or pick up Amendola, S Smith, Boykin, R White, D Moore, Douglas???

    Thx Ben

We only play two Wr’s so I can get by until Harvin returns or after Amendola’s bye this week.

The good news is the position is deep in your league. I would say Amendola or Harvin. Harvin has more upside, but Amendola has more immediate impact. I’d probably try to get the other one for Wallace after the bye.

U mean dump Blackmon for Amendola? Right?

  9. Ben

I don’t have to dump Wallace at all, just Blackmon. So you would dump Blackmon for Amendola or Harvin?

    November 4th, 2013 at 8:10 pm #

No, I mean I’d rather have Amendola and Harvin that Wallace. Obviously dump one for Blackmon now and later get the other if possible.

Ok both I understand that but I think I better grab Amendola 1st because of what he did yesterday. Harvin looks like he’s going to be out again this week according to coach Carroll. I think I can grab Amendola tomorrow & then pick up Harvin next week. Do you agree or would you grab Harvin 1st???

    Thx Ben

    Agree. Get Amendola first.

Yep because if I don’t Amendola will be picked up quickly!

    Thx Ben

I don’t know if you have done your Qb rankings but how about this question. Cam Newton at 49ers I don’t like the matchup or Eli Manning at hm vs the terrible Raiders secondary who just gave up 7 tads to Nick Foles???

This would be the one time I would play Eli over Cam. Like u would say call it a hunch.

Not a bad option. I’d stick with Cam because of his running ability, but that’s not a bad hunch.

Lester – Got a couple trade proposals and wanted to run them by you. 2 QB league, 12 teams, standard scoring. Guys I would give up are listed first.

    A. Luck for R. Bush and J. Flacco
    J. Cutler and L. Miller for Big Ben and Ray Rice

    Rest of my team:

QBs: McCown (may give him up in Cutler trade)
    RBs: AP, MJD
    WRs: P. Garcon, J. Gordon, T. Williams, C. Shorts, B. LaFell
    TEs: C. Clay, H. Miller

    You like both, either, none?

  21. LestersLegends
    November 5th, 2013 at 12:18 pm #

I wouldn’t want Flacco as my QB1. I like the Cutler one though.

    November 5th, 2013 at 12:46 pm #

Lester – Thanks for the help! I think I’m gonna pull the trigger on Cutler deal. Would it be too much to give up McCown too? I plan to get Seneca Wallace off waiver, as he is the best available and I got #1 spot.

Other waivers guys available on wire (in order of total pts to date):

    WRs: E. Royal, J. Cotchery, M. Brown, D. Baldwin, K. Wright
    RBs: R. Helu, J. Starks, R. Mendenhall, R. Jennings, B. Tate
    TEs: S. Chandler, D. Walker, G. Graham, B. Celek, T. Wright

Would you take any of them first before Seneca? I have two DEFs so I am planning to drop one and pick someone else up too.

i don’t see the point of holding mccown if cutler is back. Jennings would be a decent option for this week.

Hey there – I have KC Def. Should I drop them and pick one from Indianapolis – Arizona – Carolina or should I keep KC and drop a bench player. Which is the better D between the 3 not just for week 10 but for the rest of the season? KC is playing Denver twice – SanDiago twice – Indy – redskins and Oakland. Yes they did pretty awesome so far but should I keep them for the rest of the season or one from the above 3 I mentioned will do better? If yes then which one should I pick?
Keenan Allen or Torrey Smith for the rest of the season?
    Thanks in advance.

Who is the bench player you’d drop?

    I like Keenan ROS.

Joique Bell. I already have 3 good Rb’s.

  27. LestersLegends
    November 5th, 2013 at 3:49 pm #

I’d try to trade the Chiefs D rather than dump them. You’re right though, there isn’t many games that they are top five starts left. Oakland and maybe Indy.

Thank you. Can you please rate Indianapolis – Arizona – Carolina for the rest of the season. I’ll pick one and try to trade KC if possible.

    Hi Lester,
    Love your site and wisdom>
In a 12-team PPR league. We start 2 RBs and can carry max 4 RBs. We start 1 WR and 2 WR/TE flexes (no TE required).

RBs – I have Ray Rice (disappointment) and Darren Sproles (disappointment + concussion) and Steven Jackson (better than last week) and Andre Ellington.
    – Drop Sproles or anyone for Joique Bell, Ben Tate, Rashad Jennings, Andre Brown (which order)?
Wk 10 – who to start? – leaning to Jackson and Ellington

WRs – I have Antonio Brown, Jarrett Boykin, Michael Floyd, Josh Gordon(bye), and J Cameron (bye), J Thomas, and J Reed.
Would you drop Boykin (no value without Rodgers) and Cameron (bye plus no love from Jason Campbell) to get Dobson, Cooper or Emmanuel Sanders?
Who to start? Leaning to A Brown, M Floyd and JReed.

QB – I have Romo. Should I target Foles, Palmer, Glennon as a backup for Week 11 (order)?

    Thanks so much!

    November 5th, 2013 at 7:21 pm #

should be able to have more than 4 RBs imo. I would not drop any of those guys for the guys you listed. I’d start ellington. brown, floyd and reed Julius is a risk if he goes. I’d drop bykin for dobson or sanders, probably cooper too. foles as backup

    Hi Lester and everyone,

I currently have Cam and Luck. I’m considering dropping one of them for Cutler due to Cutler’s better points projections and ease of rest of season schedule. Should I make this move? If so, who should I drop?

  33. LestersLegends
    November 6th, 2013 at 6:07 am #

I wouldn’t make that move. If you wanted to trade one and then drop a lesser player for Cutler, that would be fine, but I wouldn’t give either up.

  34. Marcus
    November 6th, 2013 at 7:02 am #

OK. I shall wait on this, and see who I can get for either one.

Thanks a lot for the quick response!

Would you start Boldin, Wallace, or Steve Smith this week? I also don’t know whether to start Romo or Newton. I’m thinking Newton because of his run game, but Dal@NO could be a shotout. I’m also a little hesitant about starting Romo as he’s not great under pressure/near the end of the season.

    November 7th, 2013 at 8:10 am #

I have Romo 6 and Cam 7 so it’s pretty close. The WRs are all very close. I like Boldin a little more than the other two.
