2013 Fantasy Football QB Rankings – Week 2

Sep 10, 2013

.
With an exciting opening week of football under our belts, here are the Lester’s Legends 2013 Week 2 fantasy football quarterback rankings.
.
1. Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos
Manning kicked the 2013 NFL season off with seven touchdown passes. He is facing his kid brother as the Broncos travel east to face the New York Giants. With a trio of talented wide receivers and the emergence of Julius Thomas, Peyton is more potent than ever.
.
2. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints
Brees opened the 2013 season with a typical big performance. He threw for 357 yards and two touchdowns with a 74.3 completion percentage and a 113.6 passer rating. He faces the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who allowed 256 yards to Geno Smith despite his lack of weapons.
.
3. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
Rodgers threw for 333 yards and three touchdowns against the San Francisco 49ers. He added 13 yards on the ground. This week he takes on the Washington Redskins, who aren’t at the same level as the Niners.
.
4. Tom Brady, New England Patriots
Brady wasn’t at his best, but he is still adjusting to his new group of receiving options. He threw for 288 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Buffalo Bills. Brady averaged 291 yards and 2.5 touchdowns against the New York Jets last year.
.
5. Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers
The Seattle Seahawks kept Cam Newton in check, but he doesn’t have nearly the team Kaepernick is working with. Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis are physical weapons in the passing game. The Niners offensive line is as good as any in the league. Kaepernick can hurt you with his arm and/or his legs.
.
6. Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions
Reggie Bush was born to play in the Lions’ offense. Stafford threw for 357 yards despite just 37 yards from Calvin Johnson. The Arizona Cardinals gave up 299 yards and two touchdowns to Sam Bradford. Stafford should hang even more on them.
.
7. Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts
Luck threw for just 178 yards, but he had a 127.9 passer rating. He threw two touchdowns and added another one on the ground. His 38 rushing yards and that score made up for his modest passing totals. He faces the Miami Dolphins this week.
.
8. Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons
Ryan opened the year with 304 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Roddy White is not 100%, but Ryan has plenty of weapons at his disposal. He faces the St. Louis Rams, who allowed 327 yards and two scores to Carson Palmer last week.
.
9. Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles
Vick looked impressive in Chip Kelly’s offense. He threw for 203 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He added 54 yards and a score on the ground. I don’t think he’ll last the whole season, but as long as he’s healthy, he should put up big numbers in this system. Vick takes on the San Diego Chargers this week.
.
10. Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers
Newton was held to 125 passing yards and one touchdown. He added 38 yards on the ground to help a little, but he just couldn’t get going against the Seahawks. Things should be easier against the Bills.
.
11. Robert Griffin III, Washington Redskins
The Green Bay Packers struggled against Kaepernick in the opener, yielding 412 passing yards. This week they have to contend with RGIII. He started slow, but finished with 329 yards, two touchdowns and two picks. He added 24 yards on the ground.
.
12. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks
Wilson started off slow, but finished with 320 yards and a touchdown. He had four touchdown passes in his last meeting with the Niners.
.
13. Eli Manning, New York Giants
Manning had a mixed bag, throwing for 450 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. He will be forced to throw early and often to keep up with his big brother.
.
14. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
Romo threw for 263 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the G-Men last week. He took a shot to the ribs, but should be fine against the Kansas City Chiefs.
.
15. Terrelle Pryor, Oakland Raiders
Pryor ran for a ridiculous 112 yards. He threw for 217 yards, a touchdown and two costly picks. He should have his way with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who got destroyed by the Kansas City Chiefs last week.

What’up Ryan? Lost by 5pts in week 1 because Cam, TRich, and Dez had horrible games…I see you have Vick and Cam close this week. I would start Vick but i am nervous about his health and durability, of course. With Cam, i’m worried about the lack of weapons he has, and how it seems they are throttling him from using his legs to make plays, which was the main reason i drafted him. Plus the offense is sooooo conservative.

It’s so frustrating that they can’t get any weapons around him. Seriously, Cam, Rivers, Big Ben would be so much better if they gave them something to work with. I think Vick is riskier the way they play, but I’d plug him in this week personally.

Wow. I guess i was expecting you to gimme the ole ‘play your studs’ speech, which i normally do. Sucks sitting Cam though. I think i will take your advice though.

Also, i was thinking of sitting Chris Johnson this week and starting Sproles. It’s a PPR league. Whaddya think?
    RB-TRich
    RB-Sproles
    WR-Dez
    WR-BMarsh
    Flex- Cobb

    If Dez can’t go or is’nt 100% i would go…
    RB-TRich
    RB-CJohnson
    WR-Cobb
    WR-BMarsh
    Flex- Sproles

    Sound ok?

I take it you like Houston’s D/ST home vs. TENN over Pitt vs. CINCY. Did’nt Houston have like 9 turnover’s last year vs. TENN lol. I believe it was something crazy like that.

Sorry Ry…i posted the above before i knew you posted D/ST’s. I believe you normally postthat last. My bad.

  8. Brandon

I can start Sam Bradford or Andy Dalton. Who would you roll the dice on?

    Thanks

I just scooped up Jordon Cameron, do you think he should get the nod or Jermichael Finley? Also Pats or Texans D, as they’re both projected quite high? Thank you.

Hey Ryan! I need your expert advice. I have 3 teams, and I got some bad luck in auto draft (no choice), I got a little luck in waivers if it holds.
    First:
Brady or Stafford ( I know you have Brady higher, he burned me last week and last year)
    Lynch, Sproles, Run DMc
    Dez, A. Brown
    Graham
    Tucker
    Cowboys
    Bench: S.Greene, C.Ivory, M.Floyd, K.Tompkins, J.Cook
    Second:
    RG3
    M.Forte, Lynch,
    Wayne, A.Johnson, J.Nelson
    Gonzo
    Walsh
    Pats
Bench: Bradford, J.Bell, R., Matthews, J.Edelman, M.Williams. I really would like to fit Edelman into my line up I think he is going to have a big game. It seems like the Pats pass more at home than in the road. In one of my other leagues I’m thinking about starting Vick who I just picked up over RG3 especially since Philly is at home…thoughts on all this? LOL! Many thanks!

Brandon – I’d lean towards Bradford
Jason – I’d use him over Finley. I like Texans a little better
Cardio – either way on brady or staff, first team is solid. i wouldn’t use edelman over any of those guys, but if you wanted to use him over one, i’d sit jordy.
I like vick over rgiii this week

Pursue a trade, but or this week I like Cutler.

    Yeah i really dont have a choice….
the league im in you cant change players.
your players are locked and when we made our draft the positions were broken down into brackets that were divided into three (great, soso and no soso)….i have Brees though as one starter i just need another starter.so bench Rivers? you got it.
    thanks

Oh, in that case, you’re good at QB2.

Thinking about trading manning and ty hilton for cam newton and julio. Current line up in a 12 team ppr:

    QB: P. Manning
    WR1: Dez Bryant
    WR2: Antonio Brown
    RB1: Matt Forte
    RB2: Reggie Bush
    TE: Brandon Myers
    RB/WR: Daryl Richardson
    Def: Bengals
    K: Zuerlien

Bench: Mike Wallace, Joique Bell, Greg Olsen, DeAndre Hopkins, TY Hilton, Andy Dalton, Cowboys D

I think I am just worried that my receivers wont produce when I need them to. I also think when it comes fantasy playoff time that peyton will be not playing as much because they would have already clinched with an easy schedule. Where as Cam will still be fighting at the end of the season and has some very nice fantasy games at the end of his schedule. Should I wait to offer this trade later in the season? Or get something good for Manning while he is hot. What do you think about the situation?

I like that trade offer. I think you have good points about Peyton. That gives you a solid lineup.

I can’t keep taking these hits from Brady…he’s costing me my games! I sure hope Lynch is a beast at home this week.

Yeah, that’s a brutal start for TB. He’ll come around.

    Ryan,
Do you think I am still safe playing the Cowboys D or would I be better off to play Philly or Oakland? I really need to make up points for Brady. I’m concerned Arrowhead is going to be super loud and they’re a little beat up from last week. I don’t want a repeat of week 2 last year.

    September 14th, 2013 at 12:47 pm #

I like Oakland and Philly better than Dallas D this week.

Ry….You still leaning Vick over Cam this week? I’ve been checking a bunch of sites. Most rankings have Newton higher. Although, for whatever reason, i like Vick.

Still am, but both are good options.
