2013 Fantasy Football QB Rankings – Week 2
With an exciting opening week of football under our belts, here are the Lester’s Legends 2013 Week 2 fantasy football quarterback rankings.
1. Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos
Manning kicked the 2013 NFL season off with seven touchdown passes. He is facing his kid brother as the Broncos travel east to face the New York Giants. With a trio of talented wide receivers and the emergence of Julius Thomas, Peyton is more potent than ever.
2. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints
Brees opened the 2013 season with a typical big performance. He threw for 357 yards and two touchdowns with a 74.3 completion percentage and a 113.6 passer rating. He faces the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who allowed 256 yards to Geno Smith despite his lack of weapons.
3. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
Rodgers threw for 333 yards and three touchdowns against the San Francisco 49ers. He added 13 yards on the ground. This week he takes on the Washington Redskins, who aren’t at the same level as the Niners.
4. Tom Brady, New England Patriots
Brady wasn’t at his best, but he is still adjusting to his new group of receiving options. He threw for 288 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Buffalo Bills. Brady averaged 291 yards and 2.5 touchdowns against the New York Jets last year.
5. Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers
The Seattle Seahawks kept Cam Newton in check, but he doesn’t have nearly the team Kaepernick is working with. Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis are physical weapons in the passing game. The Niners offensive line is as good as any in the league. Kaepernick can hurt you with his arm and/or his legs.
6. Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions
Reggie Bush was born to play in the Lions’ offense. Stafford threw for 357 yards despite just 37 yards from Calvin Johnson. The Arizona Cardinals gave up 299 yards and two touchdowns to Sam Bradford. Stafford should hang even more on them.
7. Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts
Luck threw for just 178 yards, but he had a 127.9 passer rating. He threw two touchdowns and added another one on the ground. His 38 rushing yards and that score made up for his modest passing totals. He faces the Miami Dolphins this week.
8. Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons
Ryan opened the year with 304 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Roddy White is not 100%, but Ryan has plenty of weapons at his disposal. He faces the St. Louis Rams, who allowed 327 yards and two scores to Carson Palmer last week.
9. Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles
Vick looked impressive in Chip Kelly’s offense. He threw for 203 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He added 54 yards and a score on the ground. I don’t think he’ll last the whole season, but as long as he’s healthy, he should put up big numbers in this system. Vick takes on the San Diego Chargers this week.
10. Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers
Newton was held to 125 passing yards and one touchdown. He added 38 yards on the ground to help a little, but he just couldn’t get going against the Seahawks. Things should be easier against the Bills.
11. Robert Griffin III, Washington Redskins
The Green Bay Packers struggled against Kaepernick in the opener, yielding 412 passing yards. This week they have to contend with RGIII. He started slow, but finished with 329 yards, two touchdowns and two picks. He added 24 yards on the ground.
12. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks
Wilson started off slow, but finished with 320 yards and a touchdown. He had four touchdown passes in his last meeting with the Niners.
13. Eli Manning, New York Giants
Manning had a mixed bag, throwing for 450 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. He will be forced to throw early and often to keep up with his big brother.
14. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
Romo threw for 263 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the G-Men last week. He took a shot to the ribs, but should be fine against the Kansas City Chiefs.
15. Terrelle Pryor, Oakland Raiders
Pryor ran for a ridiculous 112 yards. He threw for 217 yards, a touchdown and two costly picks. He should have his way with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who got destroyed by the Kansas City Chiefs last week.
