2013 Fantasy Football QB Rankings – Week 4

Sep 24, 2013

With another exciting week of football under our belts, here are the Lester’s Legends 2013 Week 4 fantasy football quarterback rankings.
1. Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos
Peyton Manning is having another banner year. The Philadelphia Eagles have been brutal against the pass, allowing 323 yards per game to a non-descript collection of a rusty Robert Griffin III, Philip Rivers and Alex Smith. Manning should torch them.
2. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints
Drew Brees is averaging 340.3 yards and a pair of touchdowns as he continues his pace for a third straight 5,000-yard season. The Miami Dolphins have allowed 263.3 yards per game.
3. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
Tony Romo is averaging 257 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He is facing the San Diego Chargers, who have allowed 340.7 yards and two touchdowns per game despite facing Matt Schaub, Michael Vick and Jake Locker.
4. Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles
Michael Vick is off to an impressive start with 832 yards and five touchdowns through the air and 187 yards and a pair of touchdowns on the ground. The Denver Broncos present a challenge, but the way Vick is running the football, he is fantasy gold while healthy.
5. Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions
Matthew Stafford has averaged 340 yards and two touchdowns per game. The Chicago Bears as many interceptions (five) as passing touchdowns allowed, but they are yielding 294.3 yards per game.
6. Tom Brady, New England Patriots
Tom Brady has thrown for just 698 yards and five touchdowns through three games. He’s working out the kinks with his new weapons. Plus, going up against the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brady hasn’t really had to dial it up. This week he takes on the Atlanta Falcons, which is a different story. They have the offense to keep New England honest. Defensively, they have allowed 888 yards and seven touchdowns through the air.
7. Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons
As expected the New England Patriots are off to a strong start against the pass, allowing just two touchdown passes and an average of 188.3 yards per game. They have faced the likes of E.J. Manuel, Geno Smith and Josh Freeman. Matt Ryan, who has thrown for 909 yards and six touchdowns, is different company. The Pats’ secondary will be tested.
8. Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts
Andrew Luck has thrown for a modest 221 yards and one touchdown per game. His 100 yards and two touchdowns on the ground have been a nice supplement. Jacksonville Jaguars has allowed 608 yards and seven touchdowns through the air. I’m a little worried that the Indianapolis Colts will do their damage on the ground, but this is a juicy matchup for Luck.
9. Robert Griffin III, Washington Redskins
Robert Griffin III has ran for just 62 yards on the year, but he has thrown for at least 320 yards each game. He should have another strong game against the Oakland Raiders.
10. Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers
Colin Kaepernick got off to an amazing start throwing for 412 yards and three touchdowns in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers. He has totaled just 277 yards and thrown four interceptions in his past two games without a touchdown. He has yet to score on the ground, but he does bring 129 rushing yards to the table. He should get right against the St. Louis Rams, who have allowed 288 yards per game and seven touchdowns through the air.

Sup Ryan? Nothing like winning by nine tenths of a point this past week lol. My team kinda laid an egg. Fortunate for me, my opponent’s team was a tad worse. Got Cam, Cobb, and Olsen all on byes this week. After moving my roster around a bit. This is what i’m thinking…
    QB- MVick
RB- TRich (although i am leery of his workload)
    RB- CJohnson
    WR- BMarsh
    WR- DezBryant
    Flex- Steve Johnson/DSproles/Joique Bell
Who do you like for my Flex this week? PPR league. Leaning towards Stevie, who has put together back to back nice starts. I would Bell but Bush will be back, though he still is a decent play. Sproles’ numbers/touches have gone down every week.

I would go Stevie unless Bush has a setback.

Lester I am in a bind with byes this week also- I will also bring this up in your WR section. Cam Newton is on bye this week. My options on the waiver include- Big Ben, Carson Palmer, Joe Flacco, Sam Bradford, Alex Smith, Freeman, Geno Smith, Pryor, Manuel, Tannenhill, and Locker. Please list two in case I loose in the waiver battle.

Ryan, I was thinking about dropping Rivers to pickup Smith to play over RG3 this week. Giants aren’t going to bounce back in KC…not happening. Thoughts?

    I’d play RGIII

Will I want Rivers or Smith to get me through the buy week, or would you suggest someone else? Thanks!

Haven’t looked ahead to Week 5. I would use RGIII this week and I’d stick with Rivers in Week 5 against Oakland.

People…the QB for Washington is Bobby Three Sticks. Who’s this RGIII guy? lol j/k. I just like the moniker.

Ryan…I’m first on the waiver wire. I swear to God nobody has the Chiefs D/ST. I was thinking about snagging them and dropping Pitt (who play in London vs. MINNY). My other D is Houston. We carry 2 in our league. You think Minny is a good play for another weeek? Houston has SEA and SF the next 2 weeks. Yikes. I love KC’s schedule up until their bye in week 10. NYG this week, TEN, OAK,HOU, CLE, and BUFF. 4 home games with just TEN and BUFF away. Whaddya think?

Funny. I like KC D this week and going forward. That’s a good unit.

Ryan, Here’s my dilemma and the team I’m struggling in.
I never had a backup QB with nothing available on WW’s either. I want to kick butt…crappy line prevents it.
    Forte, Lynch, L. Bell
    Wayne, A. Johnson
Bench: Rivers/Smith, Matthews, Gordon, Jordy, E. Royal, Bennett. Thanks! Appreciate any input

    J. Bell
    Gio Bernard
    Ray Rice
    D. Richardson
    Deangelo Williams

    Love Indy D this week.
jack – not sure about pryor (concussion). if he’s cleared he should be the better play.
card – I like the lineup you have. I would prob use Bennett over gonzo, but it’s close. i’d use Gordon at flex over l bell
jay – d will is one bye. Bernard and mojo (unless r bush misses) Cutler better option than rivers

I have Cam Newton on bye this week, who do you think will have the biggest game out of the quarterbacks that are available?
    Geno Smith
    T. Pryor
    Carson Palmer

I’m leaning towards Pryor and his matchup against the horrible Redskins defense, especially with his running ability

as long as he is cleared, pryor is a good choice.
mel – I have Romo #3 this week.

Philip Rivers or Russell Wilson this week? Been burned by playing or sitting either of them at the wrong time this season…
