2013 Fantasy Football RB Rankings – NFL Week 9

Oct 29, 2013

Jamaal Charles running
With another exciting week of football under our belts, here are the Lester’s Legends 2013 Week 9 fantasy football running back rankings.
1. Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs
Jamaal Charles is averaging 127.3 total yards and a touchdown per game. He should torch the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are averaging 117.8 rushing yards allowed per game.
2. Marshawn Lynch, Seattle Seahawks
Marshawn Lynch is as steady as they come. He should dominate the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs are giving up 94.6 yards per game.
3. LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia Eagles
LeSean McCoy is averaging 127.1 total yards and 0.4 touchdowns per game. He should light up the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders have allowed 89.9 yards and 0.9 touchdowns per game.
4. Matt Forte, Chicago Bears
Matt Forte is averaging 113.6 total yards and 0.9 touchdowns. The Chicago Bears will have to lean on him against the Green Bay Packers with Jay Cutler out. The Packers are giving up 83.6 yards and 0.9 touchdowns per game.
5. Arian Foster, Houston Texans
Arian Foster is averaging 103.6 total yards and 0.3 touchdowns per game. He should be rested coming out of the bye and ready to roll against the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts have allowed 122.3 yards per game.
6. Eddie Lacy, Green Bay Packers
Eddie Lacy is averaging 87.3 total yards and 0.5 touchdowns per game. In his past four he’s averaging 110.5 total yards and 0.5 touchdowns. He’s facing the Chicago Bears. The Bears are giving up 117.3 yards and 1.1 touchdowns per game.
7. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
Adrian Peterson is averaging 99.3 total yards and a touchdown per game. I’m still a little worried that the Dallas Cowboys will stuff the box and the Vikings’ offensive line won’t be able to open holes. Of course All Day is always a threat to break a long run. The Boys have allowed 107.1 yards and 0.8 touchdowns per game.
8. DeMarco Murray, Dallas Cowboys
DeMarco Murray is averaging 98.7 yards and 0.5 touchdowns per game. He has a nice matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikes have allowed 113.7 yards and 1.3 touchdowns per game. Monitor his availability, but he should be good to go this week.
9. Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens
Ray Rice has struggled averaging 59.3 total yards, 0.5 touchdowns and 2.8 yards per carry. He’ll look to get on track against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns have allowed 103.6 yards and 1.1 touchdowns per game.
10. Le’Veon Bell, Pittsburgh Steelers
Le’Veon Bell has averaged 72.5 total yards and 0.8 touchdowns. The New England Patriots are still trying to adjust to life without Vince Wilfork and Jerod Mayo. The Pats have allowed 130.8 yards per game on the ground.
11. Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders
Darren McFadden is averaging 70.3 total yards and 0.7. touchdowns He should be productive against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Iggles have allowed 99.5 yards and 0.6 touchdowns per game.
12. Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans
Chris Johnson is averaging 76.1 total yards and hasn’t scored a rushing touchdown. He has a solid chance to do so against the St. Louis Rams. The Rams have struggled against the run.
13. Alfred Morris, Washington Redskins
Alfred Morris is averaging 83.9 total yards and 0.6 touchdowns per game. He has a decent matchup against the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers have allowed 105.4 yard per game.
14. Trent Richardson, Indianapolis Colts
Trent Richardson continues to flounder with just a 3.1 yards per carry average and 57.6 total yards per game. The Indianapolis Colts face the Houston Texans. The Texans are allowing 122.1 yards and 0.9 touchdowns per game and just lost Brian Cushing.
15. Ryan Mathews, San Diego Chargers
Ryan Mathews is averaging 106 yards in his past two games. He’s still sharing with Danny Woodhead, but he’s getting the job done. That should continue against the Washington Redskins. The Skins are allowing 123.4 yards and 1.4 touchdowns per game.
16. Giovani Bernard, Cincinnati Bengals
Giovani Bernard is averaging 65.5 total yards and 0.5 touchdowns per game. He faces the Miami Dolphins. The Fins have allowed 109.9 yards and a touchdown per game.
17. Fred Jackson, Buffalo Bills
Fred Jackson is averaging 81 total yards and 0.8 touchdowns per game. C.J. Spiller’s possible return and a tough matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs make Jackson a RB2 choice this week.
18. DeAngelo Williams, Carolina Panthers
DeAngelo Williams is averaging 85.4 total yards and scored his first last week. He’s a solid play against the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons have allowed 114.1 yards per game.
19. Zac Stacy, St. Louis Rams
Zac Stacy is a decent play against the Tennessee Titans. The Titans have allowed 117.1 yards and 1.1 touchdowns.
20. Darren Sproles, New Orleans Saints
Darren Sproles is averaging 69.1 total yards per game. He should do some damage through the air against the New York Jets.

Hi – I need a rb and have to pick one from: Donald Brown – James Starks – Brandon Bolden. Who should I pick and if first one is gone, who should be my 2nd option?
Also, is it time to drop or if I get lucky trade Brady for a decent WR. I also have Luck.

Brown, Bolden. I wouldn’t drop Brady. You can try to trade him, but you’re not going to get fair value.

Hey Ry….I was wondering if you saw Josh Cribbs’ comments this week about C-TOWN? He said “We’re not the Browns, we’re not a team that gives up.” ….lmao…Yeah Josh, as Bengals 49 Jets 9 proves. (eyeroll)

Also, how about Panthers saftey Mike Mitchell saying Goodell is ‘targeting’ him for dangerous hits and fouls. He said “Goodell puts fine money right in his pockets”. lol Just wondering how could fine money make it into Roger’s pockets when he lights his cigars with it. ????

    That is all.

    Hey RL, thanks as always…

So, if Zac doesn’t practice tomorrow I pretty much need to play Lamar in the night game, right?

My RBs are SJax, Stacey, Lamar, Ellington (bye), and Joique (bye). So I’m screwed if I set Stacey in the lineup (and he doesn’t play on Sunday) after Lamar plays tomorrow.

So here’s my issue, 8 man league, and my team is filled with mediocre fantasy producers. I need a defense this week, but no one is accepting trades, and I don’t know who I should drop. Ryan Mathews is also still available in my league and i really want to pick him up and play him over of ridley and richardson.

    Robert Griffin III – QB
    Harry Douglas Atl – WR
    Josh Gordon Cle – WR
    Stevan Ridley NE – RB
    Ray Rice Bal – RB
    Rob Gronkowski NE – TE
    Jordan Cameron Cle – WR/RB/TE
    Mason Crosby – K

    Andrew Luck Ind – QB
    Wes Welker Den – WR
    Reggie Bush Det – RB
    Trent Richardson Ind – RB
    Torrey Smith Bal – WR
    Roddy White Atl – WR
    Marvin Jones Cin – WR

Any thoughts on dropping players, (roddy white maybe) I’ve never been at such a loss for what i should do.

    THANKS matt

What kind of league do you play in where you don’t carry at least 1 D/ST? Never heard of that. The only choice you have is to drop White, or maybe Marvin imo. As a TRich owner myself, i have him benched this week as well, and until i see any signs of life, he will stay there. He’s the biggest bust in fantasy this year. I thought the trade was a good thing for his value. Turns out it was not. At least in Cleveland he got looks in the passing game. Luck does’nt even pay him any mind in Indy. Frustrating.

Brandon Bolen or Roy Helu this week? They are the best I have to choose from with Gore on bye

Bolden for me. But both are ranked close.

I would consider dumping T-Rich, as much as I like him, for Mathews. I’d drop Marvin for the defense. White has more upside ROS.
I also like Bolden. Think he gets more touches. Helu could do more if he gets in the end zone, but it’s a risk.

Hey Ry…..I know Spiller has been injured and has’nt done well this year, but someone just dropped him. He’s obviously not a FA i can pick up now, i would have to ww him. I’m like 4th on the ww now. He would clear by gametime Sunday as you know. Would you drop Sproles, TRich, Le’Veon, or Mike James, and pick him up? Not for this week, but for down the line? Not sure i could get him if someone snags him in front of me, but i would say the odds are fairly decent. James seems the logical choice since i have Sproles and Le’Veon in my lineup this week. You think Spiller’s ROS is at least higher than James’, or anyone else i have? Is it worth it?

Doug Martin and Vereen are available too. Any of these guys worth anything?

    Yes on James.

  20. LestersLegends

Maybe on Martin. Yes on Vereen, but I’d rather have Spiller

So James for who then? I take it you like Martin the least of the 3 and Spiller the best?

    Hey Ryan,

I have RB’s Forte, Jamaal, Lamar Miller, Ellington
WR’s D Thomas, Rueben Randle, Roddy, TY Hilton, McCluster, Hartline.

Someone in my league proposed a trade of Moreno for D Thomas.

Would you go for it, bearing in mind that after giving Thomas I wouldn’t have an elite WR?

Of course they are both on a bye, so no rush there.

  28. LestersLegends
    November 1st, 2013 at 6:43 am #

I wouldn’t. you have better RBs options than WR options. Maybe see if you can trade Ellington and someone other than DT for an upgrade at WR.

Hey Ry…some interesting things being said out of Indy these past few days regarding TR.

“I have to do a better job of finding ways to get Trent out in space,” Pep Hamilton said. “I have to do a better job coming up with schemes that not only give our offensive line a chance to be successful, but of course create holes for Trent and create schemes that compliment his wealth of talent. That’s one of the things that we spent time as an offensive staff looking at during the bye week.”

Hmmmm….Now i’m wavering after i said i would never start him again until he proves something. Would you start Sproles or TRich in a PPR this week?

Ry….my sh!t luck continues. I had to drop Blackmon but was able to snag Kennan Allen off FA. I just noticed that both the espn guys and the nfl network guys have him ranked ALOT higher than Boykin. Would you play him over Boykin in my flex in a ppr this week?

  34. Blair Walsh Project
    November 2nd, 2013 at 1:35 am #

Wow. Fantasypros has me playing Allen. And it’s a landslide. 89% to 11%.

Ryan Mathews, Le’veon Bell, Zac Stacy… pick two. Non PPR

  36. LestersLegends
    November 2nd, 2013 at 9:03 am #

nice fallback plan. I can see using Allen.
Seth – Mathews and Bell unless you’re willing to roll dice on Stacy’s ankle.
