2013 Fantasy Football Start/Sit Week 2

Sep 12, 2013

.
Here’s a look at Lester’s Legends sit and start advice as you set your lineups for the second week of the 2013 NFL season.
.
Quarterbacks
Start:
Robert Griffin III, Washington Redskins
RGIII got off to a slow start as he shook off the rust, but he finished with but finished with 329 yards and two touchdowns. He wasn’t the same rushing threat as we came to love last year, but he finished with a decent 24 rushing yards. He faces the Green Bay Packers, who gave up 412 passing yards and three touchdowns to Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers last week.
.
Sit:
Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers
Big Ben lacks the weapons on offense to be productive. Even more detrimental, his offense line, particularly after losing center Maurkice Pouncey (knee), is inadequate. To top things off, the Pittsburgh Steelers lack an effective ground attack. They are facing a tough Cincinnati Bengals team on the road. Don’t go anywhere near any Pittsburgh player.
.
Running Backs
Start:
Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders
Terrelle Pryor stole the show but Darren McFadden ended up with 66 total yards and a touchdown last week against the Indianapolis Colts. This week he’s facing a bad Jacksonville Jaguars team. The Jags gave up 120 rushing yards last week to the Kansas City Chiefs.
.
Sit:
Ahmad Bradshaw, Indianapolis Colts
Ahmad Bradshaw is not ready to be in fantasy lineups. Last week he had just seven carries and one reception en route to 33 total yards. He averaged 3.8 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Vick Ballard had 13 carries for 63 yards (4.8 ypc). Bradshaw should eventually see more touches than Ballard, but his foot will have to be fully healthy first. Bradshaw faces the Miami Dolphins, who held the Cleveland Browns to 47 rushing yards last week.
.
Wide Receivers
Start:
Julian Edelman, New England Patriots
It’s not surprising that Danny Amendola is hurt once again. Rob Gronkowski isn’t ready to return. Shane Vereen (wrist) is also out. Tom Brady’s options are becoming limited. Julian Edelman is his most trusted weapon. He’ll see plenty of looks against the New York Jets. Last week Edelman caught seven passes for 79 yards and two touchdowns.
.
Sit:
Greg Jennings, Minnesota Vikings
Until Christian Ponder can prove that he can get the ball to Greg Jennings, it will be hard to pencil him into fantasy football lineups. It’s Adrian Peterson’s team first and foremost. Jerome Simpson was the big play guy in the opener against the Detroit Lions. Jennings caught just three passes for 33 yards.
.
Tight Ends
Start:
Jared Cook, St. Louis Rams
Cook went full beast mode with seven catches for 141 yards and two touchdowns last week against the Arizona Cardinals. He’s facing the Atlanta Falcons, who gave up a touchdown to Jimmy Graham last week. The Falcons should explode offensively, which means Cook should be active as Sam Bradford tries to stay with them.
.
Sit:
Martellus Bennett, Chicago Bears
Bennett caught three passes for 49 yards and a touchdowns last week against the Cincinnati Bengals. This week he faces the Minnesota Vikings, who held Brandon Pettigrew to a single catch for six yards last week. I am expecting Brandon Marshall and Matt Forte to do the damage.
.
Defenses
Start:
Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals face the Pittsburgh Steelers at home. Pittsburgh struggled to run the ball or protect Ben Roethlisberger. To make matters worse, they’ll be without center Maurkice Pouncey. Pittsburgh managed just 195 yards and nine points last week against the Tennessee Titans.
.
Sit:
Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers were shredded by the San Francisco 49ers last week for 494 total yards and 34 points. This week they face the Washington Redskins, who put up 382 yards and 27 points last week against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Missed that. I would go Roddy over DeAngelo unless the news is bleak on Roddy come Sunday.

Just got offered Lamar Miller for Deangello. Last week would be a no brainer. But Miller looks like hes moving backwards in terms of production/value. Thoughts?

Lance Moore or Mike Wallace? Hate having to even compare them, but both are volatile, and Moore has played well against TB in the past.

Also, concerns on Davis/Anquan Boldin @ Seattle? As of now, I’m starting both.

I’d start them both. I’d go Mike Wallace. I expect the Dolphins will try to feature him more. Plus, he’s not dealing with Joe Haden this week.

I have been offered Chris Johnson for Montee Ball, what would you recommend? My other back is MJD, my back-ups are terrible. Thanks.

I would make that trade. Denver is a murky situation.

You don’t think Davis will get shut down in Seattle? Moore tends to play well against TB, too

Play Moore then. I like vd’s role better. Sea won’t shut down niners

Non-PPR standard scoring league. Sit/Start the following:

    RB: MJD or Lamar Miller
WR: Cecil Shorts or Golden Tate

    Thanks!
