2013 Fantasy Football TE Rankings – NFL Week 15

Dec 10, 2013

With another exciting week of football under our belts, here are the Lester’s Legends 2013 Week 15 fantasy football tight end rankings.
1. Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints
Jimmy Graham is averaging 80.5 yards and 1.1 touchdowns per game. Now that Rob Gronkowski (knee) is done for the year, there’s not debate as to who the top tight end is each week. The St. Louis Rams will try to contend with him.
2. Vernon Davis, San Francisco 49ers
Vernon Davis has 11 touchdowns on the year and has scored in four straight games. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have allowed 24 passing scores this year, making the odds that Davis scores in this one pretty high.
3. Julius Thomas, Denver Broncos
Julius Thomas returned to action with another touchdown. He has 11 scores in 11 games. He had 96 yards and a touchdown in the first meeting with the San Diego Chargers.
4. Jordan Cameron, Cleveland Browns
Jordan Cameron returned to form catching all nine of his targets for 121 yards and a touchdown against the New England Patriots. He should keep rolling against the Chicago Bears.
5. Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers
Antonio Gates is averaging 59.7 yards and 0.2 touchdowns per game. He had 62 yards in the first meeting with the Denver Broncos.
6. Dennis Pitta, Baltimore Ravens
Dennis Pitta saw 11 targets, catching six for 48 yards and a score. Keep in mind that the Baltimore Ravens were playing the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings have really struggled against tight ends. That said, Pitta should see plenty of looks against the Detroit Lions. The Lions have allowed 255.8 yards and 1.7 touchdowns per game.
7. Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys
Jason Witten continues to get a ton of looks from Tony Romo. He should have a strong performance against the Green Bay Packers. The Pack have allowed 246.8 yards and 1.8 touchdowns per game.
8. Tony Gonzalez, Atlanta Falcons
Tony Gonzalez is averaging 52.2 yards and 0.5 touchdowns. Gonzo has scored in his past two games. He’s a good bet to continue that trend against the Washington Redskins. The Skins have allowed 256.7 yards and 1.9 touchdowns per game.
9. Greg Olsen, Carolina Panthers
Greg Olsen is averaging 44.6 yards and 0.6 touchdowns in his past seven games. He’s facing the New York Jets. The Jets have allowed 254.9 yards and 1.8 touchdowns per game.
10. Coby Fleener, Indianapolis Colts
Coby Fleener is averaging 60.8 yards and 0.3 touchdowns in his past four games. He had 64 yards in the first matchup with the Houston Texans.

Is Tamme on the radar with Welker out? Probably a risky play but he might have the biggest upside (of any FA) if he gets the work in the slot again this week…. Thoughts?

I don’t expect him to pick up the slack.

So … on the subject of Pitta … he is on the waiver wire in my league, and our 4-team playoff starts this week. One team has Delanie Walker and Zach Miller … another team has Gronkowski and Jordan Reed … good thing I have more FAAB budget than both of them. :D

I could really use your help this week. I tend to be wordy, so I’ll try to make it brief. :) PPR … assuming I get Pitta, here is my projected lineup for Week 15:

QB – Peyton Manning vs SD
WR – Calvin Johnson vs BAL
WR – Riley Cooper @ MIN
RB – Gio Bernard @ PIT
TE – Dennis Pitta @ DET
W/T – Jason Witten vs GB
W/R – Montee Ball vs SD
    K – Garrett Hartley @ STL
DEF – Kansas City @ OAK

BN – Tony Romo vs GB
BN – Andre Brown vs SEA
BN – Fred Jackson @ JAC
BN – Victor Cruz vs SEA
BN – Percy Harvin @ NYG
BN – Ace Sanders vs BUF

I think Brown and Cruz are (unfortunately) complete duds this week. Seattle will swallow them whole. Cruz has shown he can’t even produce in garbage time thanks to Little Brother’s awfulness.

Montee Ball has exactly 1 less touch than Moreno over the last 2 weeks. He’s getting the red zone looks. And with Welker out, I would not be surprised if he and Moreno start seeing even more targets in the passing game. IMO, almost seems like you have to rank Ball just a notch below Moreno.

So the “big” question IMO would be … do you stick Witten in the flex spot (10 catches over last 4 games), or do you ride the warm hand with Ace Sanders (averaging 10 fan pts per week over last 4 weeks)?

Have I made any poor assumptions? Please, tear it apart. :) Thanks as always Ryan.

frank – Olsen by a hair
Grant – The only change I may do is Brown over Ball, but you have made a nice case for him. I’d stick with what you have.

Thanks Ryan! I feel good about it, despite seeing those studs on my bench … sometimes you just have to make tough decisions!

exactly. It’s good that you’re still in it to make those decisions!

Actually he could see some more looks, but it’s a risk I wouldn’t want to take. Depends on what your options are.

He’s close. Really a toss up between miller and clay. hopefully you get pitta

i got Pitta. So now its between him and Clay. Seems to me NE struggles more against TEs than Detroit does. Right now I’m thinking Clay, but Pitta is a good option to go back and forth with

Agree. I’d still go Pitta personally. Clay had just 37 yards in the first meeting.

Your not big on Tamme but my alternatives after the waiver wire are Jordan Reed (who is already on my team) G Graham or Delanie Walker. Who would u start of those 4?

    I’d go with Graham
