2013 Fantasy Football WR Rankings – NFL Week 7

Oct 15, 2013

Dez Bryant
.
With another exciting week of football under our belts, here are the Lester’s Legends 2013 Week 7 fantasy football wide receiver rankings.
.
1. Dez Bryant, Dallas Cowboys
Dez Bryant is averaging 76.5 yards and a touchdown per game. He has a great matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. They have allowed 314.5 yards per game and 13 passing scores.
.
2. Brandon Marshall, Chicago Bears
Brandon Marshall is averaging 77.5 yards and 0.8 touchdowns. He should keep rolling against the Washington Redskins. They have yielded 271.6 yards and a pair of touchdowns per game.
.
3. DeSean Jackson, Philadelphia Eagles
DeSean Jackson is averaging 98.2 yards and 0.8 touchdowns per game. I’m expecting a shootout against the Dallas Cowboys. The Boys have allowed 308.2 yards per game and 14 passing touchdowns.
.
4. Wes Welker, Denver Broncos
Wes Welker is only averaging 63 yards per game, but he already has eight touchdowns. He’s one shy of his career-high just six games into the season. Peyton Manning will show off his new toy when he returns to Lucas Oil Stadium to face the Indianapolis Colts.
.
5. Victor Cruz, New York Giants
Victor Cruz is averaging 90.2 yards and 0.7 touchdowns per game. He should destroy the Minnesota Vikings’ secondary. They are giving up 308 yards and 2.6 touchdowns per game.
.
6. A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals
A.J. Green is averaging 77.3 yards and 0.7 touchdowns per game. He should feast on the Detroit Lions. They have allowed 268.3 yards per game.
.
7. Demaryius Thomas, Denver Broncos
Demaryius Thomas is averaging 88 yards and 0.7 touchdowns per game. He’s been relatively quiet the past two weeks. Look for him to explode against the Colts.
.
8. Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions
Calvin Johnson is not at full strength, but he is capable of turning in a monster performance nonetheless. He looks to get on track against the Cincinnati Bengals.
.
9. Justin Blackmon, Jacksonville Jaguars
Justin Blackmon is averaging 163 yards in his two games since returning from suspension. He should keep rolling against a weak San Diego Chargers secondary.
.
10. Vincent Jackson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Vincent Jackson is averaging 81.2 yards per game. He scored his first two touchdowns of the season last week against the Eagles. He should continue to gel with Mike Glennon against the Atlanta Falcons. They have allowed 274.8 yards and 2.4 touchdowns per game.
.
11. Josh Gordon, Cleveland Browns
Josh Gordon is averaging 107.3 yards and 0.5 touchdowns in his four games since returning from suspension. The Cleveland Browns will have to air it out to keep up with the Green Bay Packers. They have allowed 293.6 yards and 2.2 touchdowns per game through the air.
.
12. Hakeem Nicks, New York Giants
Hakeem Nicks is averaging 73.7 yards per game. He hasn’t score a touchdown yet, but that could change against the Vikings.
.
13. Reggie Wayne, Indianapolis Colts
Reggie Wayne will be busy as he helps Andrew Luck try to keep pace with Peyton Manning. The Denver Broncos have allowed 337.8 yards per game.
.
14. Torrey Smith, Baltimore Ravens
Torrey Smith turned in his first stinker last week against the Packers, but is still averaging 94.7 yards. He should bounce back against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
.
15. Jordy Nelson, Green Bay Packers
Jordy Nelson is averaging 96.8 yards and 0.8 touchdowns. Randall Cobb and James Jones are banged up so Aaron Rodgers could lean on Nelson against the Cleveland Browns. A date with Joe Haden takes away some of the optimism.
.
16. T.Y. Hilton, Indianapolis Colts
Wayne won’t do it alone. T.Y. Hilton will be heavily involved as well in this shootout.
.
17. Pierre Garcon, Washington Redskins
Pierre Garcon is averaging 81.6 yards and 0.4 touchdowns. He should continue to see a ton of targets against the Chicago Bears. They have allowed 271 yards per game.
.
18. Eric Decker, Denver Broncos
Eric Decker is averaging 79.5 yards with a pair of touchdowns. He is also a strong play against the Colts as Peyton has a tendency to spread the ball around.
.
19. Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers
Antonio Brown is averaging 99.6 yards and 0.4 touchdowns. He’s really come on in his last three games with a 123.3 yard per game average. He faces the Baltimore Ravens this week.
.
20. Andre Johnson, Houston Texans
Andre Johnson is averaging 82.5 yards, but has yet to score a touchdown. He gets a bump in point-per-receptions leagues, but his odds of scoring that touchdown are low against the Kansas City Chiefs. They have allowed just five touchdown passes on the year.
.
21. Alshon Jeffery, Chicago Bears
Alshon Jeffery was quiet last week, but he had two strong performances in the previous two weeks. He’s a strong play against the Redskins.
.
22. Mike Wallace, Miami Dolphins
Mike Wallace has been inconsistent, but I like him coming out of the bye facing the Buffalo Bills. They have allowed 270.8 yards and a pair of touchdowns per game.
.
23. Anquan Boldin, San Francisco 49ers
Anquan Boldin is averaging 24.5 yards in his past two games. He’s a borderline WR2 this week against the Tennessee Titans.
.
24. Rueben Randle, New York Giants
Rueben Randle is averaging 55.5 yards and 0.5 touchdowns. I like his chances against the Vikings.
.
25. Greg Jennings, Minnesota Vikings
Greg Jennings should be solid regardless of who the Vikings use at quarterback. The New York Giants are that bad. They have allowed 268 yards per game and 14 touchdown passes.

Fill-in WR2 this week: Stevie Johnson, Miles Austin or Terrance Williams

Thanks – I put in a waiver claim on Jarrett Boykin. I figure J. Nelson will be busy with Haden and that will leave some looks for Boykin now that Cobb and Jones are injured. Would you roll with T.Will over Boykin?

    Hi Lester!
I have Cobb, Gordon, Decker, Wallace. We start only two Wr’s out of four each week. It costs me 100pts which is what a win in our league is worth to dump & add a player. My question is do you think Cobb will be back this year with that fractured fibula & is he still worth a roster spot? Would you dump any of these guys for Blackmon or Harvin the rest of the year?

    Thx Ben

    Rozay – T. Will
Ben – I’d get Blackmon. probably worth dropping cobb since it would cost points for someone else to get him. I wouldn’t play in a league where you can’t freely make moves. just sayin’

    Hey,
    My team is Romo/Ryan
Forte, Jamaal, Lamari |Miller, D Rich
D Thomas, Edelman, Hilton, Hartline, Roddy,
    Finley, Fleener
    Hauschka
    Denver

So, basically, i have two great RB’s and no WR’s since d thomas i not producing what was expected.
Would you go with getting Rueben Randle off the waiver for ie D Rich, or one WR?

Unfortunately i can only work with the waiver, since i don’t have excess of great fantasy player to propose an interesting trade.

Would you go for ellington as well off the wire, in place of who?

    Cheers

Ryan, I’m thinking of dropping Hartline in a league for Percy Harvin. I’ve been hearing how to snag him for weeks, he’s gone in all but one league of which I have real bye trouble in week 9. I also need a good WW D this week, I did well with the Boy’s last week but they’re too banged up to trust against Philly. Thanks!

All analysts are saying to sit Jordy and Andre this week. I’m not even sure about Reggie now that Denver’s D is back. Reggie is probably the best option out of the 3. I’ll go with K. Allen over Jordy don’t you think based off production and match up?

    October 15th, 2013 at 4:43 pm #

Interesting question Cardio- I have Jordy in both of my PPR leagues and don’t really know how I can sit him. In this particular league I am asking about I generally start Jordy Nelson, Dwayne Bowe, and Pierre Garcon. I also have Mike Williams, Austin Pettis, and Jeremy Kerley. Lester please pick 3 for this week, thanks!

    randle or ellington for drich
cardio – that’s a good look ahead play to get harvin. SD D available?
I’d roll with jordy, but allen isn’t a bad play
    JC – Nelson, Bowe, Garcon

I put a claim in for Chargers already, just wanted to check they played well against Denver. Miami is rumored to be almost all back since week 1 on D, I didn’t know if that would be the better option. I own the Chiefs in my other 2 leagues, so I’m set there. Just worried about Hayden shutting down Jordy, he’s been a WR1 for me where as Reggie has been my flex and Andre has taken the bench. I’m not trusting any Texans at KC after the way the Rams killed them.

Late night at the hospital, ugh! I got all my WW’s. On my WR’s should I go: Jordy, Gordon and Flex: K Allen, Reggie or Le’Veon Bell? What do I do with Vick? Do I drop him or play RG3, or do I wait until the last minute, drop him pickup Foles play him wait and see to get him back? Only other QB available is Big Ben or Schaub. Freeman, Pryor everyone is gone in this league. Thanks!

  15. LestersLegends
    October 16th, 2013 at 4:55 am #

I’d flex Reggie. If you want to avoid Haden, going Allen over Jordy isn’t bad. Unless you’re willing to drop Vick to get Foles, you will have to play RG3

Good to see you are staying busy Ryan. :)

What are you reading about Percy Harvin? I stashed him a while back, and the Seahawks seem to think he may actually be back next weekend. By the way, here is my team, 12-team PPR … I feel decent despite losing Julio. I have been storing up for the winter as you can see.

    QB – Peyton Manning
    WR – Calvin Johnson
    WR – Justin Blackmon
    RB – Knowshon Moreno
    TE – Jason Witten
W/T – Tim Wright (shocker special!)
    W/R – Gio Bernard
    K – Adam Vinatieri
    DEF – Kansas City

    BN – Tony Romo
    BN – Fred Jackson
BN – Percy Harvin (Week 8 return?)
    BN – Terrance Williams
    BN – DeAndre Hopkins
BN – Michael Crabtree (Week 12 return?)
IR – Andre Brown (Week 10 return?)

Ryan I’m in a very competitive 12 team league 6 points per QB td no ppr.

Record 4-2 tied for 5th Place based on points.

    My Roster:
    Luck
    Aj Green
    Deshawn Jackson
    Adrian Peterson
    Matt Forte
    Julius Thomas
    Mason Crosby
    Tennessee Defense
    Bench:
    Julian Edelman
    Zac Stacy
    Pierre Thomas
    Rueben Randle
    Brandon Jacobs
    Nick Foles

Green, Julius Thomas, Peterson all acquired through trades.

Demarco Muray and Joique Bell for AJ Green and Julius Thomas
Alfred Morris and Brady for Peterson

My question is even though Calvin is banged up is it worth bundling a bench player and AJ Green and trying to buy low or do I stay where i’m at? I have had a problem in the past with over trading that has cost me.

Also any sleeper defenses you can recommend I had Minnesota last week and they got negative and cost me a win.

Some people are carrying 3 QB’s, I’m not sure how they’re doing it in a 12 team league. If I drop Vick for Foles do you think he will be back soon, I just heard he’s taking longer than expected with his hamstring injury. I just can’t drop V. Davis or J. Cameron. I have a very strong roster and am undefeated. RG3 is my weakest player, unless home field advantage is in their favor.

  29. Scottie
    October 17th, 2013 at 6:14 am #

(Cont’d) Its tough because I love Williams matchup against Philly but feel that Miles Austin -could- take from his targets while Boykin is appealing as Aaron Rodgers #2 receiver for a 1 week plugin.

Ry, i was able to snag Blackmon off the WW this morning to replace Cobb as my flex. Dropped StevieJ for him. Also, with Sproles on a bye, my RB’s were weaker than they already are, so i dropped Joique, and was somehow able to also snag Randle for at least this week. Out of TRich, Randle, and Le’Veon. Who should i sit? PPR league. Leaning Bell base on matchup. Though i’m not blown away by Randle’s production, or lack thereof, last week.

Good article on the Colts D/ST btw. I happened to notice that schedule myself a few weeks back, and have them stashed on my bench for the stretch run. I also like the Panthers D/ST from now all the way up til like week 10.

  33. LestersLegends

Based on what? You feel Dallas is gonna throw alot?, or the Ravens run D is’nt as great as everyone thinks? or based on Bell getting more looks/touches?

  35. LestersLegends
    October 17th, 2013 at 8:07 am #

I do think Dallas will throw a lot. I wouldn’t be afraid to use randle, but not when you have options like you do. He’s a fifth round pick that averaged 1.5 ypc last week. Bell hasn’t been lights out, but he does have a pair of scores and seven catches in two games. I think I’d sit T-Rich before I sat Bell as he hasn’t been involved in passing game with Colts.

Ryan, I was looking ahead at week 8-9 when half the NFL is on a bye. I was covered until I picked up K. Allen, now I need a Flex player for week 8. My entire bench plus Wayne will be off. Mike Wallace, Harry Douglas and Ruben Randle are the 3 that jump out. James Jones may be available. Jones is supposed to practice Friday so if he doesn’t play this week, he should next. Wallace should start clicking after the bye week I’m hoping. Randle is at Philly so that should be interesting. Douglas? I just don’t see big numbers. What do you think? I’m open to recommendations. Not much available in this NFL league though. It can be a RB Thanks!

  37. LestersLegends
    October 17th, 2013 at 10:19 am #

All of them are good options. There are plenty of options available so I don’t think you’ll have a problem finding a good player. I’d lean towards Wallace.

  39. LestersLegends

Would I be better off to drop Ryan Matthews over K. Allen? I never sit Lynch and Forte anyway. I have Le’Veon Bell, I have yet to play Matthews because I always flex 3 WR. I have Jordy, Gordon, Reggie, and Andre Johnson who is killing me. Thanks!

  41. LestersLegends
    October 17th, 2013 at 12:13 pm #
