I continue the All-time tour with the Toronto Blue Jays.   Since we’re dealing with over a century and thousands of players I will assume the DH role for both leagues.  I will limit the teams to 25 players.  I’ll carry 13 batters and 12 pitchers for each team.  With baseball season around the corner, what better time to take this journey.  The teams are based on the stats the players produced with the team so Alex Rios, for example, isn’t there yet for the Jays.  I may tinker with the lineups slightly to get the best roster possible.

Manager: Cito Gaston

C – Ernie Whitt
1B – Jon Olerud
2B – Roberto Alomar
3B – Kelly Gruber
SS – Tony Fernandez
OF – Vernon Wells
OF – George Bell
OF – Joe Carter
DH – Carlos Delgado
Bench: 2B Damaso Garcia, 3B Rance Mullinkis, OF Devon White, OF Jesse Barfield

SP – Dave Steib

SP – Pat Hentgen
SP – Roger Clemens
P – Jim Clancy
P – Juan Guzman

That’s the team I came up with. Do you have any changes you’d like to suggest? I’m always open to them.

I’d make a spot for Fred McGriff. Also, maybe bump Moseby (or Carter, terrific in the clubhouse, but statistically very overrated) for Devo.

I’d consider Moseby, but not Carter. McGriff just doesn’t cut it as Delgado was the superior player.

    Sorry, can’t justify Devo either

All time teams must be about everything players do not just offence.
Decon White was the straw that stirred the drink both at lead off and defence.
his defence ranks with some of the all time best.
I would take out the most overated 1 season wonder Wells.
Take out that big season and he is not better than 5 or 6 previous Jays.
Gruber was good for a short time but i would take the Mullinks/Iorg platoon every time.

Devo may not have been in T.O. for a long time but it was all quality time.
He has 2 rings to prove it and they may have had none without him.
He had to cover 1.5 outfield spots with Bell out there.

I hear you. I’ll replace Moseby with him.

Toronto Blue Jays should be always competitive enough to keep pace with the others. I really like them; they’ve always been my favourite teams in MLB. Just read about them here:
