Brett Favre Watch Begins

Brett Favre has to be exhausted. Both physically and mentally after the brutal loss to the Saints that would have propelled the Vikings to the Super Bowl. He was hit hard early and often. He showed his toughness by playing through the pain, and came one ill-advised throw from completing the fairytale.

He had plenty of room to run to pick up the yards the Vikings would need for a Ryan Longwell game-winning field goal attempt. Unfortunately “Bad Brett” finally reared its ugly head, and he threw an interception at the worst possible time. Brett gave Vikings fans, and football fans in general, several thrills along the way, but he will ultimately be remembered for that poor decision.

In the next few days and weeks there will be discussion as to whether or not Favre will return. Initially he’ll say likely say he just can’t bring his body to do that one more year. As the pain subsides and the memory of that INT continues to haunt him, I believe he’ll have yet another change of heart.

The Vikings have too many pieces for Favre not to take one more run at it. He has formed a special bond with Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin. I really think they can convince him to come back in 2010. Despite his differences with Brad Childress, Chilly knows Favre is his best option to lead his “kick ass offense”.

If Favre can get the Vikings to agree to his terms, meaning no training camp, he’ll be back leading the Purple in 2010.

Meanwhile, here are some Colts fans having fun at Brett’s expense:
