Happy 1st Birthday Owen!


Michael Cuddyer hit for the Cycle.  Nomar, Carlos Zambrano, Rick Ankiel and Chien-Ming Wang came of the DL.  David Price got his start..and got rocked.  Tampa lost Akinori Iwamura (knee) for the year.  Rich Harden went on the DL. Vladimir Guerrero returned from the DL.  Jose Canseco got worked over by Hong Man Choi in a MMA fight.  Jose Reyes, Ryan Church, Jason Bartlett, and Carlos Quentin went on the DL.  Matt Weiters finally got called up.  KC Manager Trey Hillman was suspended a game for accidently spitting in an ump’s eye.  Nomar quickly went back on the DL.  Daniel Cabrera was cut by Nationals.  Eric Gagne signed with the Quebec Capitales of the independent Can-Am League.  Randy Johnson won his 299th career game.  Carlos Zambrano went crazy while getting ejected.  He was hit with a six game suspension.

Grand Slams: 


LeBron drained a three to even the series with Orlando at 1-1.  The Lakers beat Denver for a 2-1 series lead.  Kobe dropped 41.  Orlando beat Cleveland to take a 2-1 lead despite LeBron’s 41.  Denver took Game 4 against the Lakers to even the series at 2-2.  Orlando beat Cleveland for a 3-1 series lead.  Kevin Garnett (knee), Tyson Chandler (ankle & toe), and James Posey (knee) had surgery.  Phil Jackson got a $25K fine for criticizing the refs.  The Lakers took Game 5 over the Nuggets and a 3-2 series lead.  Cleveland beat Orlando in Game 5 to pull to a 3-2 series deficit.  LeBron messed around and got a playoff Triple-Double to keep the NBA’s dream LeBron-Kobe matchup alive.


Chicago took Game 3 vs. Detroit.  Pittsburgh took Game 3 and a 3-0 series lead on Carolina.  Detroit took Game 4 and a 3-1 series lead on Chicago.  Bobby Holik retired.  Calgary fired Mike Keenan.  Pittsburgh beat Carolina to sweep the series.  Pat Quinn is Edmonton’s new Coach.  Sergei Federov signed a two-year deal to play in Russia.  Jay McClement signed an extension with St. Louis.  Patrick Roy turned down a chance to be Colorado’s next Coach.  Detroit beat Carolina in OT in Game 5 to win the series and set up a rematch of last year’s Stanley Cup Finals.  Simon Gagne had hip surgery.


Miami’s Randy Starks was charged with aggravated battery for hitting a cop.  A judge dismissed most of the Williams Wall’s claims.  Tom Brady returned to practice for the Patriots.  Miami signed Will Allen to a two-year extension.  Rod Hood signed with Cleveland.  Anquan Boldin canned Drew Rosenhaus.  New England signed LB Paris Lenon.  Terrance McGee injured his arm covering T.O.


Florida’s Nick Calathes will leave school to play in Greece.  Manhattan will give Kevin Laue a chance to play Division I ball.  He has just one hand.  A.J. Stewart and Donald Williams are transferring from Kentucky.  Iowa’s Jeffer Peterson is transferring to Arkansas.  Clemson’s Terrence Oglesby is leaving school to play in Europe.  Memphis has some splainin to do regarding NCAA violations.  Kentucky and Billy Gillispie are suing each other.  Speaking of Kentucky, prized signee John Wall pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor stemming from a Breaking and Entering charge he faced.  USC F Marcus Johnson was granted another year of eligibility.


Kentucky’s Jeremy Jarmon is ineligible this year because of a failed drug test.


John Daly got reinstated by the PGA.  Rory Sabbatini won the Byron Nelson Championship.  Paul Casey won the BMW PGA Championship.  Michael Allen won the Senior PGA Championship.  Yani Tseng won the Corning Classic.

David Reutimann won the Coca-Cola 600.  Mike Bliss won the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.  Both races were cut short due to rain.  Tony Eury, Jr. is out as Dale, Jr.’s Crew Chief.

Guillermo Garcia-Lopez beat Julien Benneteau to win the ATP Interwetten Austrian Open.  Aravane Rezai beat Lucie Hradecka to win the WTA Internationaux de Strasbourg.  Serbia’s Viktor Troicki  and Janko Tipsarevic won the World Team Cup in their first year.

Anibal Sanchez went on the DL.  A-Rod hit a HR in his first At Bat.  Ryan Zimmerman ran his hitting streak to 30 before it snapped.  Aramis Ramirez went on the DL.  Zack Greinke took his first loss of the year.  He gave up 1 Run in a Complete Game raising is ERA to 0.51.  Jose Contreras was sent down to work out his control problems.  Cameron Maybin got demoted by the Marlins.  The Manny saga started last year with an elevated testosterone level according to an ESPN report.  Bobby Jenks got fined $750K for throwing behind Ian Kinsler.  Kevin Youkilis and Ryan Ludwick were placed on the DL.  An ump bumped Magglio Ordonez.  Good thing it wasn’t the other way around.  Ervin Santana made his season debut.  Milton Bradley had his suspension reduced to one game.

Orlando beat Boston in Game 3 to take a 2-1 series lead.  The Lakers beat Houston to take a 2-1 series lead. Antawn Jamison had ankle surgery.  Denver beat Dallas to take a 3-0 series lead.  Cleveland beat Atlanta for a 3-0 series lead as well.  Cleveland set a record with their 7th straight double-digit playoff win.  Chuck daly passed away.  Yao Ming (foot) will miss the rest of the playoffs.  Alvin Gentry was named permanent Coach.  Houston beat the Lakers to even the series at 2-2.  Boston beat Orlando to even the series at 2-2 as well.  Big Baby hit the game-winner.  Coach Jay Triano signed a three-year extension with Toronto.  Cleveland swept the Hawks.  Eight straight double-digit wins.  Tony DiLeo won’t be back to coach the 76ers next year.  He’ll return to the front office.  Larry Riley will be the new VP for the Warriors.  Chris Mullin is out.  Dallas beat Denver in Game 4 to avoid being swept.  Dirk Nowitzki and Carmelo Anthony had quite a shootout.  Danny Granger was named Most Improved Player.  Boston staged a massive comeback to take Game 5 and a 3-2 series lead over Orlando.  The Lakers destroyed Orlando in Game 5 for a 3-2 series lead.  LeBron, Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant, Dirk Nowitzki, and Dwight Howard were named to the All-NBA first team.  Denver smoked Dallas in Game 5 to win the series.  Dwight Howard was whining about his Coach not getting him the ball.  Last time I checked Stan Van Gundy didn’t run the point.  You’re supposedly Superman, demand the ball instead of whine about it in the media.  Darius Miles got busted with beed.  Say goodbye to the Association Darius.  Orlando beat Boston to force a Game 7.  Dwight Howard had a 20-20 game.  Houston beat the Lakers to force a Game 7 as well.



Pittsburgh beat Washington to even the series at 2-2.  Carolina beat Boston to take a 3-1 series lead.  Pittsburgh beat Washington for a 3-2 series lead.  Chicago beat Vancouver for a 3-2 series lead.  Detroit beat Anaheim in Game 5.  They trail the series 3-2.  Boston shut out Carolina in Game 5.  Carolina also leads 3-2.  Carolina’s Scott Walker was fined $2500 for smashing in Aaron Ward’s face.  Washington beat Pittsburgh to even the series at 3-3.  Chicago beat Vancouver in Game 6 to win the series.  Patrick Kane netted a Hat Trick.  Boston beat Carolina to even the series at 3-3.  Anaheim beat Detroit in Game 6 to even the series at 3-3.  Pittsburgh smoked Washington to win Game 7 and the series.  Carolina beat Boston and Detroit beat Anaheim in their respective Game 7 matchups. Washington signed Anton Gustafsson.


St. Louis cut LB Pisa Tinoisamoa.  The Raiders signed Lorenzo Neal.  Miami signed J.D Quinn.  Chicago signed Michael Gaines.  Fred Jackson signed a four-year extension with Buffalo.  Jason Taylor is returning to Miami.  Baltimore signed Kelley Washington and put Willie Anderson on the reserve/retired list.

Kentucky’s Patrick Patterson will remain in school.  Maine Coach Mike Burden resigned in the wake of sexual allegations against him.  Arkansas’ Michael Washington is coming back to school rather than entering the NBA Draft.


Georgia suspended Bruce Figgins and Justin Houston.  Pitt WR Jonathan Baldwin was charged with assault.  Greg Paulus will attempt to play QB at Syracuse.  Boston College LB Mark Herzlich is getting treatment for cancer.  My thoughts and prayers are with him.


Henrik Stenson won The Players Championship.  That beats hitting a shot in your underwear.  Daniel Vancsic]k won the Italian Open.  John Daly finished in second.  Cristie Kerr won the Michelob Ultra Open.

Mark Martin won the Sprint Cup and Matt Kenseth won the Nationwide Race at Darlington Raceway.  Jeremy Mayfield did a Mayfield being Manny impression by failing a drug test.

Novak Djokovic beat Lukasz Kubot in the ATP Serbia Open.  Albert Montanes beat James Blake in the ATP Estoril Open.  Dinara Safina beat Svetlana Kuznetsova to win the WTA Internazionali d’Italia.

Zack Greinke improved to 6-0 with a 0.40 ERA.  Oliver Perez got demoted to the bullpen.  Jorge Posada was placed on the 15-day DL.  The Dodgers tied the record with a 12-0 home record to start the year.  They then broke it with their 13th straight win.  The Twins shipped Alexi Casilla to the minors and called up Matt Tolbert.  Oliver Perez got moved to the bullpen and then to the DL.  Manny Ramirez received a 50-game suspension for testing positive for a PED.  Rick Ankiel was placed on the DL.  Former Phillies Manager Danny Ozark passed away.  Ryan Zimmerman extended his hitting streak to 25 games.  Arizona fired Bob Melvin.  The Dodgers had their record home winning streak snapped.  A-Rod, the new President of the Manny Ramirez Fan Club, is set to return today.

Miami killed Atlanta to force a Game 7.  Boston beat Chicago in Game 7 to close out one of the best opening round series in NBA history.  Atlanta beat Miami in Game 7 to win the series.  Denver beat Dallas in the series opener.  Denver’s Mark Warkentien won the NBA Executive of the Year award.  LeBron James was named MVP as expected.  Kenyon Martin got fined $25K for a hard foul on Dirk Nowitzki.  Orlando beat Boston to take Game 1 of the series.  Keyon Dooling had hip surgery.  Houston beat the Lakers to take Game 1 of the series.  Cleveland crushed Atlanta in the series opener.  Denver beat Dallas for a 2-0 series lead.  Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Chris Paul and Kevin Garnett were named to the NBA All-Defensive team.  Boston beat Orlando to even the series at 1-1. Rondo had a triple-double.  Eddie House was huge off the bench as Paul Pierce scored just three points.  Kobe Bryant put the Lakers on his back scoring 40 to even the series with the Rockets at 1-1.  Cleveland clobbered Atlanta to take a 2-0 series lead.  Derek Fisher and Rafer Alston got suspended one game.


Detroit beat Anaheim and Boston beat Carolina to take 1-0 leads in their series.  Washington beat Pittsburgh in their series opener.  Chicago beat Vancouver in Game 2 to even the series at 1-1.  Anaheim beat Detroit in Triple-Overtime to even the series at 1-1.  Todd Marchant scored the game-winner.  Carolina’s Cam Ward shutout Boston to also even the series at 1-1.  Markus Naslund retired.  Alexander Ovechkin netted a Hat Trick to lead Washington to a 2-0 series lead over Pittsburgh.  Sidney Crosby did his part with a Hat Trick of his own.  Vancouver beat Chicago to take a 2-1 series lead.  Anaheim beat Detroit to do the same.  Pittsburgh beat Washington in Game 3.  Washington leads 2-1 in the series.  Carolina beat Boston in to take a 2-1 series lead.  Chicago beat Vancouver in OT to even the series at 2-2.  Detroit beat Anaheim to make their series 2-2 as well.


Julius Peppers didn’t show up for Carolina’s minicamp.  Dallas’ practice facility collapsed.  Rich Behm, a scouting assistant, was paralyzed.  Joe DeCamillis broke his back.  So sad.  Biren ealy and Kolomona Kapanui got pinched for exposing themselves.  New Orleans then cut them.  John Beck signed a one-year deal with Baltimore. The Colts signed Ed Johnson.  Cleveland signed Mike Furrey.  Larry Foote signed with Detroit. The Lions cut Levi Jones.  The Redskins signed Jeremy Bridges.  Cincinnati traded Orien Harris to St. Louis for  Brian Leonard.  It appears, at least for now, that Brett Favre won’t come back.  The Dolphins renamed their stadium Landshark Stadium.  My Dad likes that beer.


John Wall, one of the most prized recruits, got busted for breaking and entering.  Three ex-Toledo basketball players were charged in a point-shaving scheme.


Marshall’s Darius Marshall and DeQuan Bembry got suspended after getting picked up on drug charges.  Alabama WR Julio Jones had surgery on his sports hernia.  Three ex-Toledo football players were charged in a point-shaving scheme.


Mind that Bird won the 135th Kentucky Derby.

Kyle Busch won both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide races at the Richmond International Raceway.

Sean O’Hair won the Quail Hollow Championship.  Thomas Levet won the Spanish Open.

Rafael Nadal beat Novak Djokovic to win the ATP Internationaionali BNL d’Italia.  Anabel Medina Garrigues beat Ekaterina Makarova to win the WTA Grand Prix S.A.R La Princesse Lalla Meryem.  Svetlana Kuznetsova beat Dinara Safina to win the WTA Tour Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.

Zack Greinke threw a Complete Game allowing one unearned Run to improve to 4-0 with a 0.00 ERA.  Brandon Webb will miss another three weeks.  Albert Pujols drove in his 1000th run.  Jacoby Ellsbury capped off a Red Sox sweep of the Yankees by stealing home.  Trevor Hoffman came of the DL.  Stephen Drew (hamstring) landed on the DL.  Brandon Webb will be out another six weeks.  The MLB Draft will be moved to the MLB Network Studios.  Try as you might, it won’t be on even the NBA level because of the obscurity of the majority of the players.  Freddy Garcia couldn’t make it with the Mets’ Triple-A affiliate.  Jose Valverde and Edwin Encarnacion landed on the DL.  The Yankees scored 10 in the 7th to break a scoreless tie with Detroit.  Cristian Guzman came off the DL.  Zack Greinke gave up 2 Runs in 7 Innings to raise his ERA to 0.50 as he improved to 5-0.  Travis Hafner landed on the DL again.  Same shoulder as last year.  Scott Podsednik was called up by the White Sox.  The Dodgers called up Jeff Weaver.

Dwight Howard got suspended for throwing elbows WWF style.  Not only did he bust up Samuel Dalembert, he hurt his teammate Courtney Lee.  Atlanta beat Miami to take a 3-2 series lead.  The Nuggets sent the Hornets packing in Game 5.  Orlando beat Philly in Game 6 to win the series without Dwight Howard.  Rashard Lewis and Marcin Gortat picked up the slack.  Chicago beat the Celtics in triple-overtime to force a Game 7.  John Salmons and Derrick Rose led the way.  Ray Allen scored 51 points and nailed nine three-pointers for Boston.  Houston took Game 6 to send Portland packing.  Couldn’t get out of the first round with McGrady, but they did without him.  Priceless.  Derrick Rose, O.J. Mayo, Russell Westbrook, Brook Lopez and Michael Beasley were named to the All-Rookie team.  I though Kevin Love had a better year than Beasley.


Washington blanked the Rangers to bring the series to a 3-2 Ranger lead.  Pittsburgh beat Philadelphia to win the series 4-2.  Chicago beat Calgary for a 3-2 series lead.  Anaheim holds a 3-2 lead despite a Game 5 win by San Jose.  Washington beat the Rangers to force a Game 7.  Carolina crushed New Jersey to force a Game 7.  Washington’s Donald Brashear got a six-game suspension for a blind-side hit on Blair Betts.  Chicago beat Calgary in Game Six to win the series.  Anaheim beat San Jose in Game Six to win the series.  Dan Bylsma had the interim tag removed from his Coach title.  Marc-Andre Bergeron had back surgery.  Washington beat the Rangers and Carolina beat New Jersey to win their Game 7s and their Series.  Mike Richards will have shoulder surgery today.  Kris Draper will miss Games 1 & 2 for Detroit against Anaheim.  Vancouver beat Chicago to take the opener of their series.


Matt Stafford was the top pick in last week’s NFL Draft.  The Jets traded up to get Mark Sanchez.  Oakland drafted Darrius Heyward-Bey.  Michael Crabree fell to 10 with San Francisco.  Hines Ward signed a four-year extension.  The Seahawks released Leroy Hill from his Franchise Tag making him a free agent, but the worked out a six-year deal.  The Bengals cut Chris Perry.  Seattle signed Ken Lucas and Justin Griffith.  Miami cut John Beck.  Lance Briggs cut his hand with a razor.  The Steelers cut Larry Foote.  The Lions parted ways with Drew Henson.  The Jets released that Brett guy.  Hopefully he doesn’t change his mind and stays retired with his bromance John Madden.  The Cards officially cut Edge.  Darren Sproles signed his one-year tender with SD.  The Saints cut Hollis Thomas.  The Colts re-signed LB Freddie Keiaho.  Shayne Graham signed his franchise tender with Cincy.  NE traded for Tampa Bay’s Alex Smith.  The Lions cut Travis Fisher.  Cleveland signed Bo Ruud, who was cut by New England.

Duke’s Gerald Henderson and Mississippi State’s Jarvis Varnado will test out the NBA Draft.  Wichita State signed Coach Gregg Marshall to an extension.  Buzz Peterson will coach at Appalachian State.


Michigan QB Steven Threet is transferring to Arizona State.  Ohio State DE Nathan Williams reached a deal to reduce charges on a shoplifting incident last December.  Indiana kicked Kellen Lewis to the curb.  Jimmy Graham is switching from basketball to football for Miami.  Kevin Prince was named starting QB for UCLA.  Notre Dame’s Tim Brown, Miami’s Gion Torretta, Ohio State’s Chris Spielman, Penn State’s Curt Warner, New Mexico State’s Pervis Atkins, Arizona’s Chuck Cecil, Auburn’s Ed Dyas, West Virginia’s Major Harris, BYU’s Gordon Hudson,Alabama’s Woodrow Lowe, Stanford’s Ken Margerum, Texas’ Steve McMichael, Iowa’s Larry Station, Georgia Tech’s Pat Swilling,Nebraska’s Grant Wistrom, Harvard’s Williams Lewis, Coach John Robinson of USC, and Coach Dick MacPherson of Syracuse were elected to the College Football Hall of Fame.


Brad Keselowski won the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Talladega Superspeedway. Carl Edwards wrecked, but finished the race on foot.  David Ragan won the Aaron’s 312 at Talladega Superspeedway in the Nationwide circuit. 

Jerry Kelly won the Zurich Classic.  Lorena Ochoa won the LPGA’s Corona Championship.  Tom Lehman and Bernhard Langer beat Craig Stadler and Jeff Sluman to win the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf in a playoff.   Thongchai Jaidee won the Ballantine’s Championship in a three-way playoff against Kang Wook-soon and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano.  Tiger Woods led after the opening round of the Quail Hollow Championship.
 
Rafael Nadal beat David Ferrer to win the ATP Barcelona Open Banco Sabadell.

LeBron James won his fourth Player of the Month award this year.  The Cavs opened their series with a win over Detroit.  Chicago beat the Celtics behind Derrick Rose’s 36 points.  Dallas beat San Antonio.  Houston topped Portland.  The Sixers took game one over Orlando.  The Lakers dropped Utah despite 17 assists from Deron Williams.  Atlanta destroyed Miami in their opener.  Denver whooped New Orleans in their opener.  Mike Brown was named Coach of the Year.  Boston knocked off Chicago on a late Ray Allen three to even the series at 1-1.  Allen went for 30 and Rajon Rondo had a Triple-Double.  Ben Gordon scored 42 for the Bulls.  Tony Parker put the Spurs on his back in Game 2 to even the series with the Dallas Mavericks.  Leon Powe (knee) is done for the year.  Dwight Howard won Defensive POY Award.  Cleveland beat Detroit for a 2-0 series lead.  Portland beat Houston to even the series at 1-1.  Brandon Roy had 42 points.  The Lakers beat the Jazz to take a 2-0 lead.  Derrick Rose won ROY.  Dikembe Mutumbo (knee) has likely played his last game.  Jason Terry won the Sixth Man Award.  Orlando beat Philly to even the series at 1-1.  Miami beat Atlanta to even the series at 1-1.  Denver beat New Orleans for a 2-0 series lead.  Boston beat Chicago to take a 2-1 series lead.  Dallas beat San Antonio to do the same.  Sacramento fired Kenny Natt.  Utah beat the Lakers to bring the series to 2-1 Lakers.  Carlos Boozer had23 Points and 23 Rebounds.


Carolina beat New Jersey to even the series at 1-1.  Pittsburgh beat Philly to take a 2-0 series lead.    Vancouver shutout St. Louis to take a 2-0 lead.  The Rangers signed Matt Gilroy to a two-year deal.  Boston beat Montreal to open a 2-0 lead.  Detroit shutout Columbus for a 2-0 lead.  Chicago beat Calgary for a 2-0 series lead.  Vancouver beat St. Louis to jump out to a 3-0 lead.  Philadelphia beat Pittsburgh to make the series 2-1 in favor of the Penguins.  Milan Lucic was suspended a game for cross-checking Maxim Lapierre.  Matt Hunwick had his spleen removed.  New Jersey beat Carolina to take a 2-1 series lead.  Anaheim beat San Jose to take a 2-0 lead.  Washington took Game 3 against the Rangers to stay in the series, down 2-1.  Simeon Varlamov shut them out.  Boston beat Montreal in Game 3 to take a 3-0 series lead.  Calgary beat Chicago in Game 3 to avoid going down 3-0.  Pittsburgh beat Philly in Game 4 for a 3-1 lead.  Detroit beat Columbus for a 3-0 lead.   Carolina beat New Jersey to even the series at 2-2.  Vancouver swept St. Louis.  San Jose beat Anaheim in Game 3.  Anaheim still holds a 2-1 lead.  Boston swept Montreal.  The Rangers beat Washington to take a 3-1 lead.  Calgary beat Chicago to even the series at 2-2.  The Flyers beat Pittsburgh to pull the series to 3-2 in favor of the Penguins.  Detroit swept Columbus.  New Jersey beat Carolina to take a 3-2 series lead.  Anaheim blanked San Jose to take a 3-1 series lead.


Buffalo traded Jason Peters to Philly for their 28th overall pick.  Detroit has a meaner looking Lion for their logo.  Now they’ll do better.  Torry Holt signed a three-year deal with Jacksonville.  Percy Harvin failed a drug test.  It shouldn’t cause him to slide too far.  SI.com incorrectly reported a failed test by B.J. Raji.  Tom Brady will participate in the Patriots’ offseason program without limitations.  The Chiefs traded Tony Gonzalez to Atlanta for a second round pick.  Jake Delhomme signed a five-year extension with Carolina.  Reggie Wayne restructured his contract.


Florida F Alex Tyus is transferring.  Kansas’ Mario Little had surgery for a stress fracture.  Memphis’ Tyreke Evans, Spain’s Ricky Rubio, Villanova’s Scottie Reynolds, Tennessee’s Tyler Smith, Davidson’s Stephen Curry, UNC’s Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington, UConn’s Ater Majok, Maryland’s Greivis Vazquez, and Georgia Tech’s Gani Lawal have declared for the NBA Draft.  Georgia Coach Mark Fox granted Daniel Miller release from his letter of intent so he could sign with another school.


Aaron Corp has taken the early lead in the QB battle for USC.  Kansas reinstated Dezmon Briscoe. 


Mark Martin won the Sprint Cup race at the Phoenix International Raceway.  Greg Biffle won the Nationwide Series race.

Brian Gay won the Verizon Heritage.  Scott Strange won the China Open.  Nick Price won the Champions tour’s Outback Pro-Am.  Patrick Sheehan won the Nationwide tour ‘s Athens Regional Foundation Classic.

Rafael Nadal beat Novak Djokovic to win the ATP Masters Series Monte Carlo.  Sabine Lisicki beat Caroline Wozniacki to win the WTA Tour Family Circle Cup.  Roberta Vinci beat Maria Kirilenko to win the WTA Barcelona Ladies Open.

The Giants put Joe Martinez on the DL after he got hit by a line drive.  He suffered a concussion and three small fractures in his head.  The Giants called up Justin Miller.  Jose Guillen (hip) landed on the DL.  Hiroki Kuroda landed on the DL.  Bartolo Colon looked good for the White Sox.  C.C. Sabathia got his first Yankee Win.  Brandon Webb was placed on the DL.  Harry Kalas and Mark “the Bird” Fidrych passed away.  Paul Konerko and Jermaine Dye both hit their 300th HRs back-to-back.  Orlando Hudson and Ian Kinsler hit for the Cycle.  Jed Lowrie landed on the DL.  Josh Beckett was suspended six games.  Lastings Milledge got shipped down to the Minors.  Chris Carpenter strained his rib cage.  Evan Longoria missed a couple games for family matters.  The Dodgers sent Delwyn Young to Pittsburgh for a couple Minor Leaguers.  Cleveland called up Aaron Laffey and sent Josh Barfield down.  Diasuke Matsuzaka, Jesse Litsch, Xavier Nady, Brian Moehler, Jorge Campillo, and Chris Carpenter landed on the DL.  A-Rod took batting practice.

Monta Ellis is done for the year.  Dwyane Wade scored 55.  Cleveland clinched the best record.  Flip Saunders is going to be Washington’s next coach.  Ray Allen served a one game suspension for an elbow.  Cleveland rested LeBron, Mo Williams, Z, and Joe Smith in their season finale.  This is exactly why fantasy basketball seasons need to be wrapped up sooner.  The Cavs lost blowing their chance to tie the ’86 Celtics for best home record.  Jason Kidd messed around and wrapped the season up with a Triple-Double.  Detroit put Allen Iverson on their playoff roster.  KG may miss the playoffs.  Danny Ainge suffered a heart attack.


Pittsburgh recalled Miroslav Satan for the playoffs.  Jacques Lemaire called it quits for the Wild.  GM Doug Risebrough won’t be back either.  Detroit re-signed Johan Franzen.  Thomas Vanek racked up his 40th goal.  Colorado fired GM Francois Giguere.  Andrew Brunette had ACL surgery.  Detroit recalled Darren Helm for the playoffs.  The Islanders won the NHL Draft Lottery and the #1 pick.  Edmonton fired Coach Craig Mcactavish.  The Rangers beat Washington.  The Devils beat Carolina.  The Penguins beat the Flyers.  Boston beat Montreal.  Detroit beat Columbus.  Chicago beat Calgary.  Daniel Carcillo got suspended for a cheap shot.  Anaheim shut out San Jose.


The Redskins signed Kedric Golston to a one-year deal.  Tampa Bay signed Donald Penn.  Donte Whitner was arrested for disorderly conduct.  Zach Thomas signed with the Chiefs.  Byron Leftwich signed with Tampa Bay.  Pittsburgh signed Super Bowl MVP James Harrison to a long-term deal.  Kevin Dockery re-signed with the Giants.  Charlie Batch signed with Pittsburgh.  Maurice Jones-Drew signed a four-year extension.  John Madden called it quits.


UCLA’s Jrue Holiday will enter the draft sans agent.  Blake Griffin and May Moore won the R. Wooden Awards.  Isiah Thomas will be FIU’s new coach.  He has destroyed a league and an NBA team.  He’s going for the trifecta.  At least he’s donating his salary back to the athletic department the first year.  Mississippi’s David Huertas is turning pro.  Same with UConn’s Hasheem Thabeet, Kentucky’s Patrick Patterson, Texas’ Damion James, Notre Dame’s Luke Harangody, and DePaul’s Dar Tucker..  Mike Anderson signed a seven-year deal with Missouri.


Texas Tech DE McKinner Dixon was suspended for academic reasons.


Angel Cabrera beat Kenny Perry in a playoff to win the Masters.  Alex Cejka leads the Verizon Heritage after the opening round.

Joey Logano won the Nationwide’s Pepsi 300 at Nashville Superspeedway.

Lleyton Hewitt beat Wayne Odesnik to win the ATP US Men’s Claycourt Championships.  Juan Carlos Ferrero beat Florent Serra to win the ATP Grand Prix Hassan II.  Caroline Wozniacki beat Aleksandra Wozniak to win the WTA MPS Group Championships.  Jelena Jankovic beat Carla Suarez-Navarroto win the WTA Andalucia Tennis Experience
