.
There is no offseason for the hardcore fantasy football player. The NFL Draft was a whirlwind of trades. Wouldn’t you like your league to have that same excitement?
.
Well, you can. A good start would be getting one of FantasyFootballTrophies.com‘s fully customizable Fantasy Football Draft Boards. Add your League Name, your Private Message and your league logo or photo.
.
Once you have your draft order in place, that’s when the real fun can begin. You and your leaguemates can start wheeling and dealing draft picks. Want two first round picks? Perhaps you can jump back into the first round by dealing away a second and third round pick.
.
The DraftBoard will include a large one-piece fantasy football draft board and a complete set of pre-printed player labels (2012 draftees included) color coded by position. When a player is selected, simply peel off his label and stick it on the draft board. . Bye weeks listed on every board at no additional charge!
.
So if you want to take your league to the next level, a customized draft board and pre-draft trades is a great first step. Order one today at http://www.fantasysportstrophies.com/draftboardLL/draftboard.html. Tell them Lester sent you.
.
There were a couple of big name tight ends that found new homes this week. Sure they still have name recognition, but do they have value for the fantasy football owner?
.
Dallas Clark had to learn about life after Peyton Manning last year. Now he put Indianapolis organization in his rearview mirror and joined forces with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Clark will turn 33 next month and has had his share of injuries, playing in just 17 games over the past two seasons.
.
Clark only averaged 3.1 catches last year for 32.0 yards with a pair of touchdowns in 11 games. Given his age, declining skill set (i.e. drops and blocking deficiency), and injury history I wouldn’t count on Clark as a fantasy contributor. If he can show along the way that he still has something left in the tank, you can pick him off the waiver wire, but I wouldn’t target him in fantasy football drafts.
.
Meanwhile Kellen Winslow is out in Tampa and has moved on to Seattle following their trade. Winslow is younger (29 in July) and is coming off a solid season (75 catches for 763 yards and two TDs).
.
While Winslow seems to be forever banged up, he hasn’t missed a game in the past three years. He has never had more than five touchdowns in a season so his status as an elite tight end has never been achieved, but he has had at least 66 catches for 730 yards in each of the past three seasons and five of the past six.
.
Winslow will have to share the load with Zach Miller in Seattle, a fact that diminishes the fantasy value of both player.
.
In summary, while both moves made some noise due to the names of the players involved, neither figure to be draft worthy fantasy options.
.
.
Here’s a first look at the LestersLegends 2012 team defense rankings.
.
1. San Francisco 49ers
They Niners had the number two scoring defense (14.3 ppg) and the number four total defense (308.2 ypg). Harbaugh has them playing tough nose football and they have the benefit of playing in a week division.
.
2. Pittsburgh Steelers
Year in and year out the Steelers are among the NFL’s top defenses. They were number one in scoring (14.2 ppg) and total defense (271.8 ypg) last year. They play in a tougher division so I’ll give the Niners the nod, but it’s close.
.
3. Baltimore Ravens
Yes, they lost Terrell Suggs, but I think he’ll be able to play at some point. They also reloaded by adding Courtney Upshaw in the draft. Ed Reed is on the fence about playing, but I see at least another year from him. The Ravens ranked third in scoring defense (16.6 ppg) and total defense (288.9 ypg).
.
4. New York Jets
The Jets had a drop in scoring defense, ranking 20th at 22.7 ppg. They still ranked fifth in total defense at 312.1 ypg. They have made some decent additions and I expect a return to form.
.
5. Philadelphia Eagles
The Birds were tenth in scoring (20.5 ppg) and eight in total defense (324.9 ypg). Their first three picks were on the defensive side of the ball and DeMeco Ryans will help plug up the middle.
.
6. Houston Texans
They lost Mario Williams, but they did just fine without him last year finishing fourth in scoring (17.4 ppg) and second in total defense (285.7).
.
7. Cincinnati Bengals
The Benglas finished ninth in scoring (20.2 ppg) and seventh in total defense (332.2 ypg). They added two promising rookies in the first three rounds of the NFL Draft (Kirkpatrick, Still).
.
8. New England Patriots
They were 15th in scoring (21.4 ppg) despite ranking 31st in total defense (411.1 ypg). They added two first round defense players (Jones, Hightower) and four in the first three rounds.
.
9. Green Bay Packers
The Pack ranked dead last in total defense (411.6 ypg) but like the Pats were much better in scoring defense (19th @22.4 ppg). They also went defense-heavy in the draft with five defensive players in the first four rounds.
.
10. New York Giants
The Super Bowl came on at the right time, like their previous Super Bowl run. They ranked 25th in scoring (25.0 ppg) and 237th in total defense (376.4 ypg), but they dealt with a lot of injuries. They put a lot of pressure on the QB.
.
.

.
The Jacksonville Jaguars can’t be pleased with star running back Maurice Jones-Drew missing the OTAs, but of course their preference is for the team to be united. For the fantasy owner, whose team is constructed of players from a multitude of teams, is this cause for concern?
.
My gut says no.
.
For starters, they are voluntary. Mojo is entering his seventh year in the league and has been a dynamic performer each and every year. He knows what it takes to get ready for the rigors of the season. It’s not like he’s sitting on his couch playing some advanced copy of Madden 13. He is preparing for another season.
.
For the record, the past two years he has not attended OTAs. The past two years (one by choice, one by lockout) he has worked out on his own. Despite knee concerns he combined for 3621 total yards and 18 total touchdowns.
.
Oh, and he managed to run away with the NFL rushing title last year.
.
There aren’t many players with his consistency. Since taking the lead back role, MJD has ran for at least 1324 yards with at least 317 receiving yards. For those of you in PPR leagues, he has had at least 34 catches in those three years as well.
.
Mojo’s touchdown production has gone down from 13.5 TDs/yr over his first four seasons to 9.0/yr over the past two, but that has been more of a function of Jacksonville’s offense rather than an indictment on Jones-Drew. Besides, who’s complaining about a two-year average of 1800+ total yards and nine scores?
.
Mojo is a gamer and is still at the top of his game. If he starts to miss mandatory workouts then you can start to go in panic mode. For right now, just take a deep breath and trust him.
.
That said, if you are in a keeper league and his owner is the panicking type, it wouldn’t hurt to inquire about him.
.
.
Though it was described as minor surgery, it is still a small setback in Kenny Britt’s recovery from his knee injury that shortened his 2011 season after just three games.
.
Britt had 14 catches for 271 yards and three touchdowns in the first two games before tearing his ACL and MCL in Week 3 against the Broncos.
.
Britt is expected to be ready Week 1, but it is a little troublesome that he is still having issues over seven months after the surgery.
.
Britt has WR1 potential, but his health will play a major factor. He has combined to play 15 games over the past two seasons and has totaled 59 catches for 1064 yards and 12 TDs.
.
There is definitely a risk/reward factor at play for those that draft (keep) Britt.
