.
Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick surprisingly joined Robert Griffin III and Andrew Luck as the new breed of NFL superstar quarterbacks.
.
Not only can they all beat you with their arm, but they all have the athleticism that gives defensive coordinators fits. They all led their respective teams to the NFL Playoffs while putting up the necessary numbers to make fantasy football players happy.
.
While Ryan Tannehill didn’t have nearly the success statistically as the aforementioned quartet, he does have plenty of upside. Tannehill threw for 3,294 yards, which ranked 20th in the league.
.
Tannehill threw for more yards than RGIII, Wilson and Kaepernick. He did finish behind Brandon Weeden’s 3,385 yards though, so let’s not be quick to assume that he’s arrived.
.
There are plenty of things to be concerned with. Tannehill completed just 58.3 percent of his passes and threw more interceptions (13) than touchdowns (12). He also took 35 sacks with Jake Long protecting his blind side for 12 games.
.
Long has since moved on to the St. Louis Rams, but the Dolphins are exploring a trade to replace him with Branden Albert of the Kansas City Chiefs.
.
The Dolphins have given Tannehill some talent to work with. Not only did they bring back Brian Hartline, they added Mike Wallace, Brandon Gibson and Dustin Keller to the mix.
.
While it’s not an elite arsenal, it certainly gives Tannehill an upgrade in receiving options. He should easily be able to add to both his passing and touchdown totals.
.
Tannehill ran for 211 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He won’t confuse anyone for RGIII, but he did average 30.1 yards on the ground over the last six games of the season. It wouldn’t be a stretch for Tannehill to run for 400 yards and four touchdowns next year.
.
While he still has to face Darrelle Revis in Week 10, at least he doesn’t have to take him on twice a year after being dealt from the New York Jets to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
.
The Dolphins face the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills in Weeks 15 and 16, which could make him a decent sleeper option in the fantasy football playoffs.
.
There are plenty of quality quarterbacks to have on your fantasy team, but Tannehill has a lot of upside as your backup fantasy football quarterback.

Sometimes you need a fantasy gem to be successful. Here is a list of LestersLegends’ under the radar players that could possibly pull out a win for you in Week 17.
.
Russell Wilson, QB, Seattle Seahawks
Wilson turned a tough matchup against the San Francisco 49ers into yet another case that he belongs in the discussion for Rookie of the Year. Wilson threw for four touchdowns. This is a week after running for three scores. He has 25 passing touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns, and just 13 turnovers (10 interceptions, three fumbles). He played poorly in the first meeting with the St. Louis Rams, but he is an entirely different quarterback these days.
.
Montell Owens, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Owens also had a tough matchup last week (New England Patriots). He only managed 42 yards on the ground, but he chipped in with 77 receiving yards. He has a more favorable matchup this week against the Tennessee Titans. The Titans rank 23rd against the run, allowing 127.5 yards per game. They are also one of five teams to have allowed 16 or more rushing touchdowns.
.
Justin Blackmon, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
Blackmon is averaging 89.3 yards in his past six games with three touchdown receptions. He had 62 yards and a touchdown in Week 12 against the Titans. Blackmon has been targeted 35 times in the past three games, and should continue to see the majority of the looks with Cecil Shorts on Injured Reserve. The Titans rank 26th in the league in pass defense with 247.4 yards allowed per game. They are also one of four teams to have 29 or more touchdown passes.
.
Lance Kendricks, TE, St. Louis Rams
Kendricks has scored in consecutive weeks and has three touchdowns in his past five games. Kendricks has had at least five targets in the past four games.
.
Graham Gano, K Carolina Panthers
Gano has six field goals and 15 extra points in five games. The Saints have allowed 24 field goals and 48 extra points. The Panthers should put some points on the board, making Gano a solid play.
.
San Diego Chargers Defense
The Chargers rank 11th in total defense allowing 330.5 yards per game They also rank 15th in scoring defense with 21.9 points allowed per game. The Oakland Raiders rank 29th in scoring offense at 17.9 points per game. They are at 12.2 ppg in their past five games and 14 ppg in their past seven games.

Sometimes you need a fantasy gem to be successful. Here is a list of LestersLegends’ under the radar players that could possibly pull out a win for you in Week 16.
.
Sam Bradford, QB, St. Louis Rams
Bradford threw for 377 yards and three touchdowns last week against the Minnesota Vikings. The success should continue against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They have allowed 310.6 yards per game and 27 passing touchdowns.
.
DeAngelo Williams, RB, Carolina Panthers
D-Will is averaging 128 total yards and a touchdown in his past two games. He will likely have to break a long run to score a touchdown against the Oakland Raiders, but that is not out of the question. The Raiders have allowed 122.5 yards per game and 17 rushing scores. Both of D-Will’s touchdown were receiving scores so he will also contribute in the passing game.
.
Danny Amendola, WR, St. Louis
Amendola is easily Bradford’s favorite target. He caught six passes last week for 58 yards and a touchdown. He added a two-point conversion as well. He’s a strong play against the Bucs’ terrible pass defense.
.
Lance Kendricks, TE, St, Louis Rams
A favorable matchup goes a long way when you are taking a long shot. Kendricks has scored in two of his past four games. He’s had at least 30 yards in each of those games so his baseline shouldn’t be too low. The Bucs have allowed 50 yards and/or a touchdown to tight ends in eight games this year.
.
Kai Forbath, K, Washington Redskins
Forbath has 15 field goals and 26 extra points in nine games. The Philadelphia Eagles have allowed 25 field goals and 42 extra points.
.
Indianapolis Colts Defense
The Colts are not a strong defensive unit, but they have a favorable matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs rank 25th in total offense and dead last in scoring offense.

Let’s be honest, if you are still alive in your fantasy playoffs, you more than likely are no longer in need of the waiver wire. With only two weeks remaining in the season, chances are that you have sorted out your starting lineup for the remainder of the year. Because of this, I have changed the format of this week’s waiver wire wonders slightly.
.
Instead of looking at guys on the waiver wire that can help fantasy owners this year, I have glanced into my crystal ball and came up with five players that are under ten percent owned in ESPN standard leagues that are going to be must-own, fantasy studs next year.
.
Tim Tebow, QB, New York Jets
We know that Mark Sanchez is going to be the Jets’ starting quarterback going into 2013 but I wouldn’t be surprised if they deployed Greg McElroy as the back up and jettisoned Tebow out of town. There are plenty of teams that need a quarterback, and surprisingly there are teams that think he can play the position.
.
While it’s certainly debatable whether Tim Tebow is an NFL-level quarterback, there is no denying his fantasy relevance when he plays. 50 rushing yards and a touchdown are his ground game baselines and anything he gives you through the air is a bonus. He is easily a top-10 fantasy quarterback when he starts. I’m not saying that a trade is immanent, but if you start to catch wind of one, I’d suggest you put a claim in for him in dynasty or keeper leagues.
.
Daryl Richardson, RB, St. Louis Rams
Steven Jackson will most certainly not be back in St. Louis next year. Though he has shown spurts this year, he is simply getting too old to maintain his current pace. If this is true, the Rams will want a new, more dynamic option, to match up with their suddenly potent passing attack.
.
Richardson has very impressive lateral agility and is a good, instinctive, open field runner. Though he is a bit on the Muggsy Bogues side, I think he has a chance to win the starting job out of camp next year. He will have to fend off competition from Isaiah Pead and potentially others, but from what I’ve seen of him, I like his chances.
.
Michael Floyd, WR, Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals have to bring in a real quarterback for next season. They simply cannot go another year with Kevin Kolb, Ryan Lindley, and John Skelton. They make Denard Robinson look like Peyton Manning. Whether it’s through the draft or through free agency, if the Cardinals want to compete in 2013, they’re going to have to make a splash.
.
With that being said, I think the primary beneficiaries of a new QB will be the talented wide-outs, Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd. Floyd got off to a poor start, had one or two nice games, and then faded off the radar down the stretch. The problem wasn’t necessarily the talent with Floyd but the quarterback’s level of comfort with him. They, all too often, would settle for Andre Roberts or Rob Housler on simple patterns and not take shots down the field to Floyd or Fitzgerald. With a new sheriff about to arrive in town, I expect things to change drastically. Remember, Floyd was a first round talent; he has big potential. I think we begin to see him cash in on that in 2013.
.
Julian Edelman, WR, New England Patriots
With Wes Welker’s impending free agency in sight Julian Edelman suddenly becomes a very interesting keeper target. Not to take anything away from Wes Welker, but I view the Patriots’ offense as a bit plug and play. I really think that if Welker were to exit, they could put Edelman into his role and they would be able to move along without a hiccup.
.
While there are certainly no signs that the Patriots want to let Welker go, I still have a hunch that he may be wearing different colors next year. The Hoodie is very tight with his cash and if he thinks he has a replacement, we’ve seen that he’s not afraid to let stars go (Richard Seymour, Deion Branch, etc.)
.
At this point in the year, it is impossible to predict anything concrete about next year, but if Welker is gone, Edelman will easily be in my top 20 receivers for next year and even if he stays, I still see a nice, slightly useful year for Edelman.
.
LaMichael James, RB, San Francisco 49ers
Year after year we hear about the demise of Frank Gore. He’s getting older, he’s getting slow, but unlike Michael Turner, he doesn’t seem to be getting fatter. No matter, Frank Gore is headed for a cliff one of these years. After a resurgence this season, I can’t help but think it’s going to be next year. To be opportunistic, I would most certainly grab Lamichael James.
.
I absolutely love James’ talent. I think he is one of the most gifted runners in the NFL and is one shot away from being not only a fantasy stud but a NFL superstar also. He was undeniably successful at Oregon and has looked good in limited work this season for the 49ers. Once you get to the end of your draft and you’re just looking for upside, I would definitely give him a look, he has top-15 upside.
.
Vincent Brown, WR, San Diego Chargers
Brown is a guy that I have always liked. I’m not sure what it is about him, but I think he is a very good NFL-level wide receiver. I liked him coming into this season but an ankle injury derailed any hope of a breakout this year. Because of this, I will go back to the well and call for it in 2013.
.
I’m not sure if anyone has noticed but Philip Rivers has been really, really bad this year. I would be very surprised if the Chargers didn’t address the position in the off-season, either by bringing in someone new or a coach to fix Rivers. Either way, a better effort out of the quarterback position could lead to a massive year for both Denario Alexander and Vincent Brown. Quietly, the Chargers have put together a nice little receiving core with the two of them and I think that their offense may be good enough next year to sustain both of them from a fantasy perspective.

Sometimes you need a fantasy gem to be successful. Here is a list of LestersLegends’ under the radar players that could possibly pull out a win for you in Week 15.
.
Carson Palmer, QB, Oakland Raiders
Palmer throws for a lot of yards (292.7 per game) and throws nearly as many touchdowns as interceptions (22 to 14). He has five games with 350-plus yards this year. Palmer is a much better home start, as he has 307.7 yards per game with 15 touchdowns in seven games, compared to 275.2 and seven in six road games. The Kansas City Chiefs have allowed 25 passing touchdowns.
.
Bilal Powell, RB, New York Jets
Powell is averaging 62.3 total yards and a touchdown in his past four games. He is sharing with Shonn Greene, but has been getting double-digit touches. The Tennessee Titans have allowed 127 yards per game and a dozen rushing touchdowns. There should be enough for Powell to at least be a flex consideration.
.
Josh Gordon, WR, Cleveland Browns
Gordon is averaging 71 yards with five touchdowns in his last nine games. The Washington Redskins have allowed 289.3 yards per game and 27 passing touchdowns.
.
Martellus Bennett, TE, New York Giants
Bennett has scored in back-to-back games. I am expecting a shootout against the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons have allowed 50 yards or a touchdown to a tight end in nine of 13 games.
.
Rob Bironas, K, Tennessee Titans
Bironas has 24 field goals and 27 extra points. The New York Jets have allowed 20 field goals and 34 extra points.
.
Detroit Lions Defense
The Lions are an average defensive team, but because the Arizona Cardinals are so bad, I have them as my top defense this week. The Cardinals rank last in total offense (269.5 yards per game) and scoring offense (14.3 points per game). They might as well let Larry Fitzgerald play quarterback. At least he’d get the ball.

Sometimes you need a fantasy gem to be successful. Here is a list of LestersLegends’ under the radar players that could possibly pull out a win for you in Week 14.
.
Joe Flacco, QB, Baltimore Ravens
Flacco has seven games with 234 or fewer passing yards. He has just three games with multiple touchdown passes. He also has four games with 341 or more yards. The Washington Redskins rank 31st against the pass, allowing 299 yards per game and 24 passing scores. This feels like one of those big games for Flacco.
.
Shonn Greene, RB, New York Jets
The Jets are a soap opera gone wrong. Their quarterback situation is a joke. Greene has been one of the lone bright spots on offense. He ran for 104 yards last week. He has the chance to put up another big game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. They have allowed 144.0 yards per game and 16 rushing touchdowns.
.
Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles
It’s sad that Maclin is even considered a debatable option. That’s how bad it in Philly. He’s a roll-of-the-dice option this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs have allowed 309.4 yards per game and 21 passing touchdowns. Nick Foles did look improved against Dallas.
.
Kyle Rudolph, Minnesota Vikings
Rudolph could easily be a no-brainer weekly option if he got even average quarterback play. He is a great red zone threat with eight touchdowns. He just doesn’t provide steady yardage, thanks to Christian Ponder. Rudolph has a touchdown in three straight games, including Week 12 against the Chicago Bears.
.
Adam Vinatieri, K, Indianapolis Colts
Vinatieri has 21 field goals and 26 extra points. The Tennessee Titans have allowed 24 field goals and 39 extra points.
.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jags aren’t a good defensive team by any means, but the New York Jets have serious issues at quarterback. The Jets are averaging 13.8 points in their past five games.

.
Chad Henne, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Suddenly the Jaguars look like a threat now that Blaine Gabbert has been put out to pasture. Henne has averaged 307.5 yards and six touchdowns the past two games. He has a chance for continued success against the Buffalo Bills. They have allowed 233.3 passing yards per game and 20 passing scores.
.
Beanie Wells, RB, Arizona Cardinals
Beanie scored a pair of touchdowns last week. That was the obvious silver-lining to an otherwise marginal day. Beanie averaged 2.8 yards per carry. This week he faces the New York Jets. They have allowed 142.8 rushing yards per game and a dozen rushing touchdowns.
.
Ryan Broyles, WR, Detroit Lions
Broyles shines playing Robin to Calvin Johnson’s Batman, catching six passes for 126 yards on Thanksgiving Day. The Indianapolis Colts have allowed 233.8 passing yard per game and 19 passing scores.
.
Martellus Bennett, TE, New York Giants
Eli Manning appeared to have more zip on his ball, which is a welcome sign to all of his pass catchers. The Washington Redskins have allowed seven tight end touchdowns. Bennett went for 79 yards against them in Week 7.
.
Phil Dawson, K, Cleveland Browns
Dawson has 21 field goals and 20 extra points. The Raiders have allowed 23 field goals and 41 extra points.
.
New York Jets Defense
The Jets have a middling defense. This is more an indictment as to how bad the Cardinals are. They rank 31st in both total offense (292 yards per game) and scoring offense (16.4 points per game).
