Chaz Schilens Breaks Foot

Aug 18, 2009

Oakland Raiders WR Chaz Schilens, who has been gaining steam as a sleeper pick, broke the fifth metatarsal in his foot today.  Chaz made little noise last year with 15 catches for 226 yards and 2 TDs, but finished relatively strong with 6 catches for 98 yards and 2 TDs in the Raiders final two games of 2008.  He had been putting together a solid preseason before the injury, which will cost him 4-6 weeks.  He had five catches for 52 yards in the Raiders’ opening preseason game against Dallas.

Chaz will likely miss a game or two and then need some time to get into game shape.  At this point I wouldn’t draft him, but I would keep an eye on him when he returns.  If he can pick up where he left off, he could be a solid WR4 or WR5 depending on the size of you league.

    that hurts

the guy is raw, but really athletic

this slows his schedule to realizing his potential
