It seems like everyone else on the Big Red Machine that didn’t gamble has made it into the Hall of Fame. OK, I’m being a little facetious, as George Foster and Ken Griffey have and will not get the call from Cooperstown. Besides Pete Ro$e, there is one more Big Red Machine member that I feel should get that call…Dave Concepcion.

Judging by numbers alone, he probably doesn’t merit consideration, but there are more to it than just numbers. Dave Concepcion was a good hitter and a slick fielder. He was arguable the best SS of the ’70s. Only a handful of shortstops manned the position as many games as Concepcion. He was a winner, and one that stepped up his play on the bigger stage of the playoffs. I think there’s room in the Hall for him.
