Favre_is_overrated_2007, a friend of mine from Sporting News, suggested David Cone.  Here are my findings.

Awards

1998 Hutch Award
5 All-Star Appearances

Top Ten Finishes
Wins – Five Times (Led league in 1998)
ERA – Seven Times
Winning % - Six Times (Led league in 1988)
Innings - Four Times (Led league in 1995)
Strikeouts – Eleven Times (Led league in 1990 & 1991)
Starts – Three Times
Complete Games – Seven Times
Shutouts – Eight Times (Led league in 1992)

I always thought that he looked like the bad guy in Terminator 2.  Facing him was almost as scary.  He was lights out.  I would have like to see him win 6 more games for 200 in his career, but given the fact that he pitched on five World Series teams and had a winning percentage over .600 I’m going to let him slide in.

My first thought was, (He was real good, But He didn’t really do quite enough to get in) but your research shows he was real good for quite a few seasons, If he got those 6 wins I think he would get in, and If he didn’t have the injuries that cut his career short and hurt a few of his seasons he would have won 250 games games, had well over 3000 Ks and that would have been a Lock for first ballot induction. He just might get in eventully.

I can’t believe he won’t be on future ballots. I thought he was one of the best pitchers of the 1990s.
