George Davis played for the Cleveland Spiders, New York Giants, and the Chicago White Sox in his career that lasted 20 years.  He played SS, 3B, OF, 2B, 1B, and even pitched 3 Games.  He hit .300 or better nine straight seasons.  He reached some impressive totals in Runs, Hits, Triples, RBI, and Stolen Bases.  Considering the fact that he played SS for the bulk of his career, the numbers are even more impressive.  In 1893 he had 112 Runs, 27 Triples, 119 RBI and a .355 Batting Average.  A labor dispute between the Giants of the National League and the White Sox of the American League cost him most of the 2003 season.  Perhaps the best thing he ever did was save people from a fire on his way to practice.  He still played in that night’s game.
