Hall of Fame Yardsticks:

Black Ink: Batting – 31 (54) (Average HOFer ≈ 27)
Gray Ink: Batting – 269 (19) (Average HOFer ≈ 144)
HOF Standards: Batting – 55.8 (45) (Average HOFer ≈ 50)
HOF Monitor: Batting – 104.0 (139) (Likely HOFer > 100)

I don’t get why Roger waited so long to be enshrined.  He has outstanding career numbers, and was easily one of the game’s best players judging by his top ten finished.  He blows the HOF yardsticks out of the water.  Nine of the ten players he compares most too are in the HOF.  The other being Jimmy Ryan, who many feel should be in.  He was the Home Run leader before Babe Ruth.  It would seem to be a no-brainer that Roger be included among baseball greats of years past.  It’s just a wonder that it took so long.

I agree. I’m not sure why it took so long to get him in. The point is (I guess) he is in now.

    Great stuff as usual.
