ron guidry had the greatest season I’ve ever seen a major league pitcher have in 1978. june 17th was the day he struck out 18 california angel batters. that was also the game when fans started the clapping when the gator had 2 strikes on a batter. in his career he proved he could compete with the best so why did the yankee front office not give him the manager’s job after joe torre’s stellar career as the yankee skipper. they make joe girardi the manager and then they go out and buy him a world series.
