Failed Sports Reality Show TV Pilots
Reality shows have taken over the networks. Some of them (American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, etc.) are highly successful. Some, however got grounded before getting picked up by a network. My Hollywood Insider, Eric Greenberg, from the critically acclaimed Just My Show helped uncover these gems. Now, it’s my job to alert the masses about these pilots in hopes that a network will pick them up. Perhaps with a grass roots marketing effort we can make these shows a “reality”.
Square Dancing with the Stars
This spin-off was receiving competing bids from TNN and CMT before all hell broke loose. Looking back, perhaps it wasn’t the best idea to have both Tony Stewart and Tonya Harding on the set at the same time. Once the moonshine was flowing you just knew there was going to be a fight.
Just the Ten of Us
All plans for a remake of this show starring Travis Henry and his illegitimate children were brought to a screeching halt when he was cut from the Broncos. Shawn Kemp is in negotiations to take over for Henry.
The Brady Bunch
After losing in the Super Bowl and the fallout from the Spygate scandal has put this production on the shelf. People just got tired of the Patriots. Although the critics loved the pilot, the feeback from the test audience told a different story.
Joba and the Fatman
Let’s face it. This idea was bound to fail from the moment of conception. Hank Steinbrenner has the gruff personality to pull off his role, but when he speaks everyone tunes him out. It was a new role for Joba, and he still needs to work out the kinks. One bright spot was Brian Cashman’s performance in the role of Max.
