Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts – 4/6/10

Apr 7, 2010

Here’s a look at the unheralded players who played well yesterday.

Barry Zito, San Francisco Giants
Zito continued the Giants’ dominance with six scoreless innings. He gave up just three hits, struck out five, and walked one.

Nick Swisher, New York Yankees
Swisher continued his hot start going 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. He’s up to .429 on the year.

Adrian Beltre, Boston Red Sox
Beltre also went 2 for 4 to raise his average to .429 as well.

Casey McGehee, Milwaukee Brewers
After a strong rookie season, McGehee was somewhat overlooked in fantasy drafts. He went 2 for 3 with a HR and 3 RBIs. He’s up to .571 on the year.

Jon Rauch, Minnesota Twins
Rauch made it look easy in his first save of the year. He struck out two in a 1-2-3 ninth. 11 of his 16 pitches went for strikes.

Mark Ellis, Oakland A’s
Ellis went 3 for 5 with an RBI to raise his average to .429.

Dallas Braden, Oakland A’s
Braden tossed a gem giving up 1 run on 4 hits with 10 Ks for a no-decision. He was 8-9 last year with a solid 3.89 ERA.  He’s never been a big strikeout pitcher so don’t get overly excited.

Ian Snell, Seattle Mariners
Snell also got a no-decision despite giving up just 1 run on 3 hits in 6 innings. He posted a decent 4.20 ERA in 12 starts with the M’s last year.

Chase Headley, San Diego Padres
Headley went 2 for 5 wiht 2 runs and a SB. He’s hitting .444 on the year.

Everth Cabrera, San Diego Padres
The speedy SS went 3 for 4 with a double, a triple, 4 RBIs, and a SB. He’s also hitting .429 on the year.

Chris Young, San Diego Padres
Young went six scoreless innings for the victory. He gave up just one hit and struck out 5. He did walk three, but his WHIP remained solid (0.67)
