Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts – 5/10/11

Here’s a look at the unheralded fantasy baseball players who played well yesterday.

Washington at Atlanta
Roger Bernandina went hitless in three at bats, but he scored two runs and stole a base, his second in three games. If you need speed, he’s a decent option. Laynce Nix went one for four with a home run and three RBI. Martin Prado went two for five with two runs and a homer. Jason Marquis bounced back from a rough outing to give up three runs in 7-1/3 innings to improve to 4-1 with a 3.66 ERA.

Philadelphia at Florida
Chris Coghlan went two for four with his 19th RBI. Raul Ibanez went two for four for the third straight day. Josh Johnson and Roy Halladay didn’t disappoint in their pitchers’ duel.

Kansas City at New York Yankees
Obviously he’s not unheralded, but Derek Jeter is hitting .286 after going two for four. I guess the rumors of his demise were greatly exaggerated. Brett Gardner went one for two with two runs. Jeff Francoeur went two for four to raise his average to .308. Matt Treanor went two for two. Freddy Garcia gave up one run in six innings to improve to 2-2 with a 2.61 ERA.

Los Angeles Dodgers at Pittsburgh
Jamey Carroll went three for four with a run giving him ten hits in his past four games. Aaron Miles went three for five with a run and two RBI for his third straight multi-hit game. Rod Barajas went two for five with a run. Ted Lilly gave up two runs on four hits in six innings for the win.

Boston at Toronto
Corey Patterson went two for five with a run. J.D. Drew went two for five.

St. Louis at Chicago Cubs
Nick Punto went two for four with a run and an RBI. Daniel Descalso went two for four with two RBI.  Darwin Barney went three for four with two runs to raise his average to .331. Marlon Byrd went two for five with a run.

San Diego at Milwaukee
Jonathan Lucroy went three for four with a run and three RBI to raise his average to .324. Will Venable and Jason Bartlett each went two for five with an RBI. Chase Headley went two for four with a run. Kyle Phillips went two for four with two runs and two RBI. Alberto Gonzalez went two for four with a run and an RBI.

Cincinnati at Houston
Jonny Gomes went two for five. Miguel Cairo went three for three. Brett Wallace went two for four to raise his average to .336. Homer Bailey, yesterday’s streaming pitcher option, gave up five hits with five strikeouts in seven scoreless innings. He’s now 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA. Both of his wins have come against Houston.

Seattle at Baltimore
Luke Scott went two for four with a run and an RBI. Felix Pie went two for three with a run and an RBI. J.J. Hardy went four for five with a home run. Jack Cust went two for five. Adam Kennedy went one for four with a home run and two RBI. Michael Saunders went two for six with two runs. Jake Arrieta gave up two runs with six strikeouts in six innings, but got a no-decision.

Tampa Bay at Cleveland
Asdrubal Cabrera went three for five with his 23rd RBI. Michael Brantley went two for four with a home run and two RBI. Matt Joyce went two for four with a home run and two RBI to raise his average to .356.

Oakland at Texas
Mitch Moreland went two for five with a run to raise his average to .302. Ryan Sweeney went two for four with a run. Cliff Pennington went two for three with a home run. Colby Lewis gave up one run on five hits in 7-1/3 innings for the win. He’s given up six runs in 23-1/3 innings (2.31 ERA) in his past three starts.

New York Mets at Colorado
Daniel Murphy went two for four with a run. Todd  Helton went two for four to raise his average to .311.

Detroit at Minnesota
Austin Jackson went two for five with a run and a stolen base. He had nine hits in  his past four games. Scott Sizemore went one for three with two runs and an RBI. Jhonny Peralta went one for three with a home run and two RBI. Brennan Boesch went two for five with a run and two RBI (18) to raise his average to .298. Rick Porcello gave up one run one three hits in five innings to improve to 3-2 with a 3.67 ERA.

Chicago White Sox at Los Angeles Angels
Maicer Izturis went two for five with two runs and a homer. Alberto Callaspo went two for four with three RBI. A.J. Pierzynski went two for four. Joel Pineiro gave up two runs with five strikeouts in 7-2-3 innings to improve to 2-0 with a 1.33 ERA.

Arizona at San Francisco
Total pitcher’s duel. Ian Kennedy gave up four hits with eight strikeouts in eight innings to match Tim Lincecum.
