Here’s a look at the unheralded players who played well yesterday.

 

Scott Podsednik & Mike Aviles, Kansas City Royals
Pods went 4 for 4 to raise his average to .293. Aviles went 3 for 4 to raise his average to .323.

 

Livan Hernandez, Washington Nationals
Livan gave up 1 run in 7 innings with 5 Ks to improve to 6-4 with a 2.84 ERA. It was just his second win since May 5th, but Livan has been pretty steady for the bulk of the season.

 

Gio Gonzalez, Oakland A’s (pictured)
Gonzalez got a no-decision despite giving up just 1 unearned run on 4 hits in 7 innings. He struck ou 9 as he lowered his ERA to 3.89.

 

Mike Leake, Cincinatti Reds
Leake also got a no-decision after allowing just 1 run in 6 innings. His ERA stands at 2.92, but he has just one win since May 16th.

 

Gerardo Parra, Arizona Diamondbacks
Parra went 3 for 4 with a run (10) to raise his average to .269. He is 8 for his last 20 (.400). The Conor Jackson trade has given him more ABs.

 

Rodrigo Lopez, Arizona Diamondbacks
Lopez gave up 3 runs in 8 innings to beat the Yankees and improve to 3-6 with a 4.59 ERA. It was his first win after four consecutive losses.

Robinson Tejada, KC: 2 IP, 0 Runs, 3 Ks (32 Ks, 34-1/3 IP)
